Teapot, Easter Egg, Motifs and Bookmarks

Tattabugg tatted the Antique Rose Tea Set from the book Tea Is For Tatting by Martha Ess. using Lizbeth Lemon and Leaf Green for the centre rose.

Linda has finished her CQ block which will be put into wall hangings and when completed it will be mailed to Hideko Ishida, the Japanese CQ sister group in Sendai. All proceeds from the viewing and auction of the wall hangings will go to a charity designated by Hideko.

Barbara has completed another egg from TATTED Easter Eggs by Kirsten Wind Hansen. This one used Lizbeth thread size 20, #142 called Turquoise Twist.

Fox has another motif from the Finnish book done in yellow and maroon with green and blue beads for accents. The colours perfectly match the pansies on her shuttle.

Marty has been tatting up bookmarks. The first pair of bookmarks are Flower by xstchntat. The first one was made with size 30 Cebelia thread hand dyed by her sister, and size 40 white Lizbeth. She had meant to use size 20 but picked up the smaller size by accident and had to add a few stitches in the chains to adjust. When she did the second one using size 20 thread she continued used the extra stitches on the chains. The next one is made in size 20 Lizbeth and is her own pattern which is supposed to represent a string of butterflies. The last one is also size 20 and is made from her pattern for a button shirt decoration. As long as the button part is stuck out of the book, it won't make a lump in the book.

Doily, Coaster, Motif and Edging

Patrycja has finally managed to complete this doily which is about 18 cm in diameter, or about 7 inches for the metrically challenged. The doily is her own design done in her own hand dyed size 20 Aida.

Linda was in need of a masculine gift for a secret tatted angel, so she decided a tatting embellished mug rug was just the perfect thing. I'd be afraid of getting tea and coffee stains on it

Fox is fascinated with the designs in the Finnish book, like this motif which is part of a larger design. The edging continues to grow, albeit slowly. This broken bit is where the thread broke and has further fuelled Fox's dislike of Lizbeth thread.

Bracelet, Motifs, Seahorse, Easter Egg, Leaf, Flower, Hearts, and a Doily

Tattabugg has decided to join the challenge and for her first entry she shows us a bracelet she created using pearls and amethyst beads, which just happen to be the birthstones for both of her children, so this is one piece of tatting that she is keeping.

Justyna was enchanted with the intertwined flower created by Orsi and had to do her own version in pink and violet.

Journey is working on Jane Eborall's Seahorse, but since she wants to do it in 2 sections instead of 5 she has been jumping through hoops in order to accomplish that. It'll be pretty when it's done.

Jessica shows the second sample of the coin purse she will be teaching at Shuttlebirds.

Wanda tried Jane Eborall's Flowery SCMR Bookmark in Lizbeth Butterfly Breeze #127 and DMC Cébélia light green #955, both size 20. The green wasn't as much contrast as she was looking for, but I like the effect.

Barbara is still working on Easter Eggs. This is number 5 in the book done in Lizbeth size 20, colour 106.

Fox has the Finnish motif completed, but has discovered that she was doing the Catherine wheel join all wrong. (Who says it's wrong? It might be another way of right. As long as it works and it looks like it did.)

Gina downloaded the Finnish book and is working on one of the motifs. She had planned on using a split ting to climb out but started in the wrong place. The tatted leaf was a gift from Millie Moody who she had previously met at Starbucks.

Isa is inspired by spring to tat flowers like these.

Kelly tatted both these hearts in Lizbeth size 20 thread called Summer Fun. The first is Small Tatted Heart by Betsy Evans and the other is Susan Fullers Hearts Desire.

Martha has finished Iris Neibach's Anemone Nemorosa from her book Tatting Fantasia 2. All it needs now is blocking, but she has wisely decided to wait until after the move. Might as well wait, it's only going to get rumpled in the move.

Bracelet, Flowers, Cross, Easter Egg and a Snowflake

The Guidelines

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.

Prabhjyotsaini has posted pictures of previously tatted projects including a bracelet s bookmarks and hearts and a bracelet of her own design, some experimenting with beads and a daisy picot flower she designed.

StephanieGrace tatted another cross, this time in size 20 LizBeth Lemon Lt and Leafy Greens.

Barbara has started working from TATTED Easter Eggs by Kirsten Wind Hansen and this is Egg #1 made in Flora thread size 20, #17. Easter Egg #2 in book was done in Lizbeth size 20 colour #114 called Sea Shell and this was the first time she has done Josephine Knots. The last one is Egg #5 and she used variegated Lizbeth size 20 #131 and DMC Cebelia, size 30 for the white but the different size threads is really noticeable so she won't mix them again.

Brigitte tatted a Celtic snowflake designed by Sparrow Kelly, called Celeste, in DMC Cebelia size 20 white and light blue.

Gina has posted pictures of all the lovely tatting at the lace meeting, which I won't duplicate here, but you can follow the link to her blog and see them all there. Here is the name tag she was working on and she used glue to attach everything which worked out well. Sometimes you just can't sew things down when you are working with a surface that you can't, or don't want to poke needle holes through.

Necklace, Coin Purse, Motifs and Edgings

Prabhjyotsaini has joined the challenge and begins with this necklace pattern by Totusmel using red color thread and shiny glass beads. This small bag pattern by Sheron Goldin encouraged her to learn how to make split chains.

Justyna was inspired by Fox and made these beaded pieces with silver spacers and her HDT.

Shannon chose to tat the recent Be-Stitched design by Nancy Tracy but made an adjustment by only putting four rings in the chains around the outer edge. It was tatted in yellow DMC thread #745 size 10.

When Ninetta made the swallow, she wasn't satisfied with the way the bead sat in the eye until she tried the Catherine Wheel Join. So she has added instructions on how to do it.

BSOTF decided plain blue jeans would look better doctored up with tatting. So here they are with a yellow motif and an undulating edging in matching yellow. What a neat idea!

Fox is being subversive, using a cut off piece of tatting and a link to her blog pencilled in the corner of a library book. Cheeky! She used 2 strands of Valdani thread in yellow, orange and green to tat a motif from a Finnish book and wasn't paying attention so she had to do as much un-tatting as tatting. The edging is coming along even though it has a couple of unexpected matte beads in it.

Earrings, Bookmark, Edging, Flower, Doily, Necklace and Snowflakes

Justyna joins the challenge and has posted a pair of beaded earrings tatted in the colours of a romantic sunset.

Bev aka BJ has tatted another of Jeanne Lugert's Rosary pattern. This one is in Choco-lime HDT by TatSkool with Czech fired-glass, brown with flashes of red, sterling medal and cross and some tiger eyes.

Diane is getting ready for a bookmark exchange and has 3 bookmarks ready. This one is also from Emsyjane and the thread is Altin Basak size 50 color #3001.

Fox is making great progress on her tatted edging. Edgings take quite a while to tat, but the nice thing about them is that after a couple of repeats you memorize the pattern and they become mindless tatting that you do and still carry on a conversation, or watch the kids play hockey.

Gina has tatted some hyperbolic blossoms following Patty Dowden's instructions and will use them for decorations.

Ingrid has started a clover doily designed by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson using Virtuoso white cotton from her aunt's stash. White is nice and crisp and goes with everything.

Isa has finished her necklace using the Turkish technique called Mekik Oyasi, complete with enamel beads to match.

Sue's monogrammed anniversary gift didn't fit, so she cleverly covered the monogram with tatted Beaded Snowflakes (without beads) from Tatted Snowflakes by Vida Sunderman made in Tatskool's Coral Reef size 40. Now it can be worn and appreciated by her niece.
