Doilies, Ice Drops, Runner, Motifs, Pin, Pendants, Yoke, Leaves, Designs, Earrings, Angel and Techniques

Usha shares her experiments in single shuttle laces in all their glory. It may be single shuttle work, but none of it is boring.

Vera is still working on her doily which, at this point is a huge pile of lace.

Marthanne was able to keep tatting on the Doilies by Renulek, even though being busy and visiting family. Both have row 11 completed, with the size 20 one at 16.5 inches across and the size 40 one at 13.5 inches across.

Diane finds that relaxation time results in more Ice Drops being done. She thinks this is her 40th Ice Drop from the ball of Rainbow Splash, and she thinks she has enough for at least two more. Here are 40 Ice drops done in Rainbow Splash and 3 more given to a friend in the hospital. She thought she had enough thread for 2 more, but it ended up that she made 4 more, so that looks like 47 from one ball of thread. When displayed on her tree there were 2 on almost every branch. These little window tins are perfect for storage. Since she has collected up so many gems, she figures that she's going to be tatting an Ice Drop almost every day and this one is in size 20 Lizbeth #115, Springtime. She is back to working on her sister-in-law's runner in Eightsome Reel from A Pattern Book of Tatting by Mary Konior. Today's Ice Drop is her Spring Garden pattern in size 20 Lizbeth.

Fox re-tatted the Posy pattern since the flawed thread caused such turmoil it spilled over into the tatting, but this one is perfect. Here they are side by side. She's making some progress on the other Konior piece. She doesn't care for these long chains, but thankfully this is the last row of them. Working in size 40 thread this motif isn't very large.

Marie found that this stick pin reminded her of her sunflowers. This one has a fiery aspect. She was was making another "Mother's Day Brooch," but ran out of thread before she could finish the last two rings, so she turned it into a pendant.

Martha found Yoke Circle 13 gave her some trouble until she discovered that the bare thread spaces had to be very short.

Muskaan used some dot picot veins to give the leaves character and texture in her bouquet and she has graciously shared her process for making them. Playing around with diagram templates led to almost instantaneous designs. Check her blog for full details.

Sue combined Yarnplayer's Celery size 40 with some glass beads to make these earrings for a friend, shown front and back. She test tatted an angel for Elaine P. Gan in size 3 white with an iridescent thread, which turned out almost 3 inches tall and the pattern was fine, but she forgot to tat the halo. She re-tatted it, and this time got the halo too.

Doilies, Ice Drops, Motifs and Earrings

Vera has been working steadily although somewhat distractedly and she's half way through the last round. The doily is looking large and lovely.

Diane finished a pink Ice Drop that's sure to please Sophie. She likes the contrast between the pastel glass gem and ribbon and the bold colours of Rainbow Splash on this one. Another Ice Drop with a pale pink ribbon. She's still on the same ball of Rainbow Splash for this Ice Drop.

Fox found the curves weren't curving right so once again she took the scissors to her tatting but it looks like it's behaving now. Mary Konior's Posy is one of her favourites. Size 40 Lizbeth splits on her again and of course it was on the last join of a row. Fox seems to be a magnet for this kind of trouble, but maybe it's only on size 40.

Sue tatted a Christmas Ice Drop from Diane's Spring Garden Ice Drop pattern worked in Lizbeth size 20 Christmas Delight. Diane's Root Beer Fudge Ice Drop pattern, tatted in Lizbeth size 20 Christmas Delight. Another Christmas Ice Drop tatted from Diane's Blue Fudge Ice Drop pattern. Ice Drop earrings are tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Elderberry Jam with clear purple plastic beads in the centre. Shown front and back. These plastic beads are see through, which the glass ones aren't. This pair of earrings are tatted in size 80 Lizbeth Falling Leaves. She wanted to use the Christmas Delight thread but the beads shaded too much toward orange instead of red which suited the Falling Leaves thread better.
