Motifs, Flowers, Earrings, Bookmarks and Heart

Stephanie Grace tatted the Anniversary Motif from Mary Konoir's Tatting with Visual Patterns in LizBeth size 20 #127 Butterfly Breeze and #614 Lemon Lt.

Magda in preparation for the upcoming show is tatting lots of small carnations with pearl centres mounted on hair pins.

Isabel tatted these Gypsy earrings that measure 14 cm long and found the tatting the split chains with balls a bit challenging.

Bev aka BJ has been busy. She tatted several of the Cross With a Story bookmark, 2 of which are pictured here. these were done in blue metallic and gold metallic with beads. She also completed the earrings that match the triangular necklace she is working on so that she could give them to Kirsten at the baby shower. She did the Blossom Bookmark from Kaye Judt’s book, A Little O’ This A Little O’ Tat because it was quick.

Fox tatted a motif from the Vintage Tatting & Crochet book using the last of Margaret's sample threads and a bright Lizbeth yellow. The directional thing gave her a few problems, but she persevered.

Gina was looking for something else when she found this heart pattern on Jon Yusoff's Pattern Pages which was designed in memory of Jon's mother. She meant to do the daisy picots, but the first one wouldn't come to the front like the others so she cut and frayed them.

Laura has another group of tatted designs to show. The first one with a bit of a celtic twist, another design that looks good in two colours, but she only shows the one. Another design uses Josephine knots, just because there aren't a lot of designs that use them. Another design that looks like it has flowers around the outside and the last one that is done in a single round.

Motifs

Fox is practicing roll tatting, clunies, and blipless joins, but it seems like the blipless join is twisting the ring. She has an assortment of tatted pieces to give her sister who is looking for a bunch of tatted remnants.

Motifs, Earrings, Snowflakes, TIAS and a Collar

Shannon made another tatting press for her daughter and here it is already in use.

Magda has created some new earrings, one pair in gold Madeira thread size 50 which is slightly smaller than size 20 Aida and another in silver.

Sharon tatted these lovely little flakes from the Mini Tats book and the one on the right is perfect for emptying a shuttle filled with size 20 thread.

Nancy has just finished tatting Gina Butler's collar in size 20 thread using Lizbeth Antique Violet Lt. # 639.

Linda has completed a Sun, Moon and Stars quilt block which includes a TIAS airplane among it's embellishments.

Fox has driven herself to distraction with blipless joins and Catherine Wheel joins. She's beginning to wonder if she'll be prematurely bald.

Gina is back to working on vintage designs from D.M.C. Tatting. The little motif was tatted in DMC 20 Special Cordonnet. She was able to climb out of the first round, but doing more that the 4 needed for her sample would make this a tedious project. She didn't like the look of the crochet part and thought she might try to do a tatted header, but only got this far.

The Guidelines
1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
---------------

Julie began with the cross in Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns by Monica Hahn and tweaked it with some additional picots and shortening the chains in the middle so they didn't overlap. It's tatted in size 20 Lizbeth in Tropical Punch and Azalea Medium.
Stephanie Grace tatted the seahorse pattern by Debbie Arnold in Lizbeth silver and gold size 20 even though it was scary to start with, she did manage to get it finished.
Diane tatted the Rick-Rack Star from Oh My Stars! by Kaye B. Judt and if she does it again she'll use smaller joining picots.
Fox tatted the pattern from Kaye B. Judt's Oh My Stars! again, this time with beads. She also shares a picture of one of the wee ladies she tats for. Check out those socks!

Gina used Tatskool's Berry Burst, size 40, and Venus Black, size 40 to tat Nora from Tatted Butterflies by Adelheid Dangela. The butterfly looks marvellous on my screen by Gina thinks the colours in the picture are washed out.

Bookmarks, Heart, Motif, Edging

Julie has a cross that her Grandmother tatted, but she doesn't know where the pattern comes from or if it was something her Grandmother invented and she has reproduced it by referring to the scan she received of the ones her sister was given and copying the one she has. They are all similar although they have different stitch counts. She used size 20 Lizbeth in Mountain Breeze for the one she tatted.

Journey tatted the first part of this cross in some more of the vintage blue, yellow and white size 80 thread. It wasn't as quick a job as she thought it would be, due to some necessary retro tatting.
Stephanie Grace tatted Candle by Dee Powell from Tatted Bookmarks Needle & Shuttle edited by Barbara Foster. For thread, she picked Country Side 117 and the corresponding Blue Med 651, both LizBeth size 20.
Fox has tatted Elisa's pattern again and again and then she tatted one of the pretties from Kaye B. Judt's Oh My Stars!, but not without a few trials.

Isa is working on a project that's her own idea.
Kelly found a cloth at the thrift store and she has been adding this tatted edge to it in DMC Cebelia the matches the stitching on the cloth.
Wanda designed the first cross on the right in Lizbeth size 20 thread #633 dark purple in the centre and the outside in #127 Butterfly Breeze. After she had it done she thought of some things she could do differently and tried it again in the same colours.

Motif, Star, Snowflake and Bookmarks

Tattabugg tatted this motif from The DMC Book Of Charted Tatting Designs in Lizbeth Summer Fun and size 80.
Julie saw this motif from Tatting Patterns and Designs by Gun Blomqvist, Elwy Persson on another blog and had to get the book and try it for herself. It's a good book with an interesting variety of projects in it including a lot of individual motifs. She did it in Lizbeth size 20, Springtime and she thinks she may do it again with 6 sides.

Sharon shows us the Onion ring snowflake that was taught by Kaye Judt at ZigZag Corner last fall. She has been tatting, but it's those silly little finishing bits like hiding ends that seems to take so much more time than TATTING. We all feel your pain.

Tatteristic was looking for a quick bookmark pattern and settled on this one that was originally a braid pattern in the Anna Burda magazine. Jane in South Africa updated it by using split rings and the revised pattern was posted by Jane Eborall. All of these were done in size 20 thread.

Brigitte tatted this cross from Tatted Bookmarks Needle & Shuttle edited by Barbara Foster in Lizbeth Size 20 Springtime to give to her firend as a hostess gift.

Letter, Butterflies, Doily, Heart and Motif

Gwen picked up some supplies at the Atlanta IOLI Lace Day including Tatting A B C's &1 2 3's by Houstine Cooper. Her first project was a tatted S framed with a butterfly as a gift for her friend Stephanie. She thought she might jump on the bandwagon and tat a 9 row doily because it wouldn't really take very long to do. Of course that was before she made a mistake on row 3 and had to start again.

Fox tatted another of Elisadusud's cluny patterns using Tatskool's Sweet Shop Forget-Me Not size 60 that felt like size 100 and a variegated Valdani thread. She has done the fourth Finnish motif in a variegated thread Altin Basik #50 that she matched up with a purple Altin Basak she had in her stash and again the beads have scrunched the picots.

Gina has assembled the pieces she showed us earlier and the result is Olivia, from Tatted Butterflies by Adelheid Dangela. The body is made up of some thread she dyed last year, the yellow is Flora size 50 and the purple is a combination of a variegated glace thread and a solid purple. SO there are 3 different thread sizes used, but the final effect is gorgeous.
