Bettas, Butterflies and Bookmarks

Eva has some tatting involving 3 shuttles. The chain of blue and yellow split rings is for her glasses, the colours are for the Swedish team.
Elizabeth is finding that the patterns she creates are either things she loves or once is enough. Fortunately this is one she loves to tat. A beautiful flower with butterfly accents and now that she's addicted to Marilee's HDT threads there could be a lot more colour variations.
Bhavani is giving classes in a variety of needle arts.

Sylvia worked these 2 Mary Knoior designs in Aquarelle thread emptying shuttles. Pretty colours but she has to be careful not to split the thread. The next piece was something where she made the tassel and then just kept tatting until she ran out of thread. The last piece used to empty a shuttle is another Mary Konior design "Babylace". She used the ring and chain colours on one side then switched them for the second side. Clever!

Anne needs a large doily but she's having trouble finding one that's suitable without tatting a lot of motifs. She's wondering if she's going to end up tatting a lot of medium size doilies before admitting that she's going to have to tat a lot of motifs.
Margaret received her thread shipment and managed to complete her Eastern Star in time to give it to her friend Ginger. She has received her Pay it Forward package from Joy a lovely tatted cross in variegated pastels. Now it's her turn to Pay it Forward to the first 3 people who comment on her blog.
Jeff has finally finished "IT" which is a tatted Betta and he's not sure whether he can reproduce it or not since it was done free form. He has done Jane's TIAS but he hasn't been taking pictures of each day. Jeff has also been test tatting for Linda Davis and gives us a peak at the gladiolus that will be in her next book. Isn't it gorgeous? He posted a picture of the Filigree Scroll pattern he did some time ago. It's one that Gina was working on too and the instructions for it are a little dicey.

Aileen is a little late with some exchange items. There is a bookmark in in purple and yellow Floretta and Marilee Rockley's 'Quickie Snowflake Earrings' pattern which she attached to a metal bookmark stem. Helma Siepmann's flowers and Pam Palmer's Tortoiseshell Butterfly were added to a towel for the SnN Towel Exchange. It's a more practical idea than a tatted edging since it won't need special care while washing, yet it perfectly showcases beautiful lace, which is great considering it's on a towel. I have tatted edgings on some guest towels and I like using them but hate having to block them every time they're used. After seeing Wally's beautiful pinwheel doily Aileen had to try a pinwheel pattern for herself and she used some of her own hand dyed thread to tat this motif and now has to decide if she wants to do more of the same motif or used her HDT on something else.
Bonnie has posted Just a Bit of what she's tatting. This is her largest project so far and she test tatted it in white before using her beautiful HDT thread…and made a mistake requiring a major retro tat.
Joy tatted this small doily from A New Twist on Tatting in size 30 Cebelia thread. She's looking up the different categories that she can enter things in for the local farm show. Lots of tatting possibilities.
Ellen is working on the TIAS. Maybe it's an animal? Working with some size 10 thread she tatted this very clever heart on a paper clip. I love the way Ellen's designs always have simple clean joyful lines. The TIAS for another day is done and still no one is the wiser as to what they are making.
Ais tatted the ice cream cone but cut off because the cone didn't work out right. The square motif is pretty just on it's own and it's done in a variegated Viscose thread she got from her sister. The bookmark is Julie Patterson's pattern for the Spring Flower Bookmark done in more of the Viscose thread that doesn't have a label.
Nita is working on the TIAS project, maybe it's a poodle? She did this celtic doily with Marilee's "Tourmaline" size 20 DMC Cordonnet. The close up shows the celtic weaving better.
Tatting Chic received the CQ square that Melissa did for her in exchange for tatting an ice cream cone for her.
Diane has finished all of her bookmarks and restarted Stella Alpina
Joyce's anniversary heart with 50 gold beads is a wonderful idea.
Pamela is having a return of gecko madness.
Arlene has a tatted edging and a new carrying case.
Clyde has finished a many motif round on his doily which is now about 14 inches across.
Mark has some interesting lock stitch chain work going on.
Snowy has a new tatting book and she made one motif using SLT and a second using mock rings.
Marilee has a new batch of "Fern".
Laura has changed Inga Madsen's starling into Dumbledore's Phoenix, well maybe it needs a wee colour adjustment.
Marty's working on the TIAS.
Melissa has received that ice cream cone from TattingChic and added it to her CQ block with a strawberry and some sprinkles. The bookmark now resides in her Bible.
Wally has just received her Puerto Rican Artisan License. Congratulations Wally.
Martha has been studying techniques. Now there's a bird of a different feather.
Gina has been tatting from Traditional Tatting Patterns edited by Rita Weiss and she doesn't like the way this one lies.

Bookmarks, Ice Cream and Venus Fly Tat

Sapna saw the scrunchie on Tattingchic's post and had to make one of her own. It was so much fun she decided to do 2 of them one in Sherry's Spring Poppies size 20 and one in variegated pink size 10. They're both pretty and will make wonderful gifts.
Iris designed this gorgeous pendant while doing the boring chores of babysitting and house cleaning and as soon as the kids were gone she had to sit down and tat it right away. Now to work out a chain for it.
Jeff reveals his Venus Fly Tat, pattern to be created later. Here is the bookmark he received from an exchange . The pattern is from Diana Steven's book "A Tatted Zoo", done in Flora size 20. The bookmarks he did are made with Sherry's "Tutti Fruitti" thread in size 20 combined with orange Flora 20 colour number 224 and red Flora 20 colour number 221. The pattern is Martha Ess's "Maltese Ring Bookmark" from Tat Days 2007.
Aileen took a trip to Puerto Rico and met Wally of NeedleDreams fame. They hung out and chatted about tatting, and shopped for lots of tatting threads and supplies that she can't get at home and to top it all off, Wally gave her this lovely tatted doily. Aileen has numerous tatting exchanges to catch up on and one of them is this card with the tatted flowers in the Helma Siepmann style. Zarina sent her this marvelous towel in the SnN Towel exchange.
Joy tatted the Blue Doily from Leen's page but she did it in variegated pink Omega size 30. Imaginative names for tatting projects are sometimes difficult to come up with, but I'd rather have a name than something like Edging 2781 like they use in some of the older publications.
Ellen is working on the TIAS day 3. She didn't have the beads she needed on the shuttle so she had to unwind add beads and rewind. Good thing she was working with a bobbin shuttle.
Ais was out of town visiting family and having a much needed rest, but she had time to tat some of Mary Konior's motifs and finish Lyn Morton's Tudor Rose in size 8 perle cotton. Now that the Tudor Rose is done in thicker thread she really likes it.

Pictures of Zarina's tatting have to wait until her exchange partners receive them.

Nita is working on the TIAS challenge she was leaning toward centipede, but this design could still go in a lot of directions. The Rose Heart snowflake is a design by Diane Munoz done in size 80 thread.

Since Amie is working on tatting motifs she figured she might as well do some tatting for Christmas. The Bitty Angel and the Simple Angel by Birgit Phelps are indeed simple and sweet designs. After a break to work on some more edging Amie decided to tat a heart. This is Susan Fuller's "Heart's Desire" and personally I think it's just about the most perfect heart design I've ever seen. I can fully understand flubbing it half way through. I have a couple of my own diseased looking figures. TattingChic tatted a Rainbow Sherbet cone in Sherry's Yummy Grapefruit HDT size 20 thread. Then she promised Melissa one in pink, in exchange for a CQ block, but that didn't seem quite right, so she also did a tatted bookmark in Coats & Clarks size 70 using Mary Konior's black magic pattern to go with the CQ Bible hand bag Melissa is making. That also prompted her to join in with the doily tat along. Tatting is sooooo addictive. Diane is tatting Iris Neibach's Stella Alpina in Altin Basak #3052 and tatting bookmarks for colleagues who are leaving.
Jon has posted a pattern that uses mock rings.
Marilee has mastered dimpled Yorkies.
Laura's blog has a tatted cat for Isaac and a patriotic starfish.
Melissa's CQ for TattingChic is finished and she's joined in the doily tat along.
Sherry is tatting from Mini Tats.
Gina tries out some novelty threads.

Scrunchie, Heart, Christmas and Tatting Together

Eva's tatting group is concentrating on their lace. Tatting get togethers meant food, fun and frivolite in any language.Anne has posted "En liten nuperellebrikke". Kate has found life too busy for tatting much but she did get these done for Christmas gifting and exchanges and finally had time to show us pictures of them. The first is Ben Fikkert's leaves flake made with 2 strands of quilting thread. Then there is Teri Deusenbury's Snowburst and finally Lenore English's angel pattern.
Margaret tatted Mark's Tatty Turtle for the round robin. She did want to tat some mice, but couldn't find a pattern for one. Joy has had another one of those delightful accidents that turned an uh-oh mistake into an Wow ornament. It was planned all along we knew it.
Ellen is working on the TIAS Day 2.
Tattingchic has joined the challenge. She began by tatting the Wheel of Fortune Heart designed by Teri Dusenbury and tatted in Yummy Grapefruit and Seaweed HDT. Her second entry is a scrunchie in size 20 thread although the original pattern called for size 10.
Clyde has been working on a very large doily ran out of Yarnplayer's Fern size 80 HDT. If anyone has some in their stash please get in touch with him.
Jon has step by step tutorials up on making a split ring and making a mock ring.
Marty is working on the latest TIAS.
Sherry has the "Heart Attack" edging posited with pattern. Then she went a little dimpled ring crazy with the next motif.

Flowers, Egg, Heart, Bunny, Bookmark

Iris inserted a glass ball used for floral decoration inside an earring bon bon from her book. Earring candy!
Jeff has been doing some interesting tatting recently. This item with the clipped picots looks kind of like a woolly caterpillar and there is more to come. Is he tatting his own indoor golf green? A more recognizable item is this celtic daffodil from Ruth Perry's book, "Celtic Tatting: A Design Journey on an Ancient Theme". Jeff has also revised his earlier project that needs some features added...I really can't tell what this one is going to be either.
Barbara has tatted this Celtic Egg Pattern adapted by Helen Bailey from a circular motif by Sue Hanson in Opera size 20. Now she wants to make more of them in different colors.
Bonnie has tatted the May Mystery motif from Gina's blog. Some slight inattention caused her to miscount at one point so this is her second try at it. She also asks the question that starts the never ending debate -To count or not to count? Added to Bonnie's challenge motives is "Heart's Desire" by Susan K. Fuller tatted in Marilee's size 30 "Roses" HDT.
Joy has been working from her father the late Rev. Lloyd Dice Tennies' collection of tatted patterns. One of these is a design in a notebook that was tatted by her aunt. Working from the sample and instructions in the notebook, Joy tatted this little grouping of motives that could be made into any size she wanted. Very pretty and Joy has also posted the page from the notebook so that we can see what she was working from. Ellen has posted her bookmark design called Dancing Kristine along with the pattern. She has used a beautiful variegated thread and interlaced the design with a floral ribbon in matching colours. Ellen missed out on the earlier TIAS projects so she couldn't miss this one. It looks like the new shuttles are getting a work out as well.
Ais is having a frustrating time with her email. It seems that she is not able to reply to any email, so if you are waiting for a reply, be patient.

Zarina is already on her 23rd motif. This fluffy pink bunny is a design by Heather, but Zarina thinks it doesn't look quite right. I don't know, it looks like a bunny to me.

Nita tatted this flower designed by W.M.Odum and published in 1929. Nita has added a block tatted leaf modified from a pattern for a butterfly.
Amie has decided to join the challenge and posts 18 motives to start along with a tatting edged blanket.Diane has completed "Beatrice" from Tatted Doilies by Iris Niebach and a bookmark in Marilee's "Golden Glow" thread for her mother.
Clyde has received a lovely gift of a tatted square doily and a mauve and lime green cross.
Mark has some dimpled ring experiments.
Jon shows how to tat a split ring.
I did a step by step tatted rose.
Snowy's pictures of her black bootie are on her other blog.
Marilee has tatted in the style of different composers. That's different! She finished her scrunchie in Lola HDT.
Sherry has a demo of the "dimpled yorkie".
Gina has videos of hiding ends.
