Doily, Bookmark, Leaf, Birds, Snowflakes, Heart, Dragonfly, Edging and Earrings

Kristen has been working away at her Celtic Sugar and Spice Doily that was just starting to come together the last time we saw it. Since then she has added another double colour layer, a simple row of green, a row of split rings and finally a finishing row of ecru with bright blue beads that matched the blue thread. It was entered in the fair and won a best in show ribbon. She also entered a bookmark she made just for fun and it also won a best in show.

Linda tatted the Maple Leaf pattern by Tammy Rogers in size 20 Lizbeth #100 Falling Leaves. The Hummingbird pattern by Heather Johnson was tatted with Lizbeth #137 Berry Burst also size 20. The Snowflake 2 pattern by Roger aka Freedman is a very easy pattern worked up in two rounds done in Lizbeth snow white size 20. The pink heart is by Patti Duff, tatted with Lizbeth #145 Pink Parade size 40. The hummingbird is a pattern by Karey Solomon worked up in a SCMR done in Lizbeth size 20 colour #156, Watermelon. Jon's dragonfly also works up very quickly and nice to add in lots of projects.

Diane shares her Christmas in July package from Val.

Fox received an amazing gift of a custom shuttle from an anonymous giver. It's a lovely shuttle with an MOP silhouette of a cat in honour of Fox's beloved Misha, and Fox's name on the reverse. The Bunnys and Flowers edging from Aunt Ellen's Treasury Tatting Patterns graces a pair of socks for Mini-Boss. Fox was dissatisfied when she compared her recent motif to Jon's. Thinking the difference might be the beads, she did it again taking many careful hours without beads and while the quality is improved, she doesn't like the motif as much!

Gina is continuing to work through the D.M.C. Tatting publication and this is figure 12 of Plate 2. Her first sample is in size 20 DMC Special Cordonnet and a size 50 DMC thread for the crocheted header. She includes a picture with the stitch count for anyone who wants to give it a try. She's doing it again in a Lizbeth thread size 20 substituting Josephine knots for the small thrown off rings.

Lily showed the pattern that these earrings came from, but here are the earrings themselves. Tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Peacock Blues (size 20) with tiny glass gold seed beads and gold-filled hooks.

Wendy bought Jon Yusoff's book Elegant Tatting Gems and tatted Baiduri using Flora size 20 in two colours.

I'll post my first photo later today, of a flower hair barrette I finished last night.

May it get my creative juices flowing...
