Motifs, Edgings and a Beaded Bag

Anika found a tatted motif that she thought would work nicely to dress up her shoes along with a custom paint job when they were mauled in transit.

Fox made Mary Konior's fragment, from Tatting Patterns in a Flora #20 thread sample that Randa sent her. She pulled out Ruth Perry's book and refreshed her memory on how to tat a Celtic knot. The border she has been working on continues to progress. Fox loves Judi Banashek's pattern because it reminds her of the onion dome shapes she likes. Fox likes the pattern from The Tatter's Treasure Chest but it's a lot of work for a border.

Gina thought the flowers from Plate 1 would look good as an edging on this blouse.

Isa finished the tatted bag in linen thread she was working on. It's her own design with over 600 beads and she plans to take it to her next tatting meeting.

Black Cat, Edging, Shawl and Doily

Axa joins the challenge and in honour of Friday the 13th, here is Mark Myers black cat tatted in Anchor Artiste 20.

Julie added a row of single crochet to a hanky followed by a basic ring edging and topped this with Mary Konior's Asters in white and lavender which picks up the colour in the hanky. So far it's looking good.

Jessica has been working on a triangular shawl for a couple of years. She is making it in three sections and plans to join the different colours together with a band of white between them. That's a lot of tatting done, and a lot more to go.

Bree created this doily for her friend Roxy using a simple ring and chain motif to make a light, airy lace confection.

Edgings, Bracelet and Bookmarks

Yesterday's post was delayed due to Blogger's maintenance, so here it is today.

Jessica has found a pattern in Priscilla Book #2 that she can't decide if she likes it or not. It looks like a good candidate for a belt, but she thinks it looks a bit chaotic.

Stephanie Grace started this bracelet a while ago and she decided it was time to finish it. The thread is Lizbeth Victorian Red and Black, both size 20 with some pearly white accent beads.

Cindy's Mom found this charming set in an antique store and it`s been embroidered and finished with a tatted edging done in very fine thread.

Fox remembered she had a book called Tatted Handkerchiefs and she likes border #9 with many Josephine Knots although she found she couldn`t use an Aero to tat them because the hook kept getting caught. She loves how it looks with the delica beads. Fox decided the edging on the sun dress needed to be attached on the top and bottom because she was worried about the Swarovski crystal. Now it`s secure.

Ingrid is three quarters of the way through her edging and has a hanky all picked out for it.

Marty tatted all these bookmarks from a modification of Jane Eborall's Butterfly Bookmark except the odd-one-out which is a modification of xstchntat's Flower Bookmark. The tails are mostly purl tatted with and the rainbow thread is size 30 CebeliĆ  that her sister dyed for her. Everything else is Lizbeth 20.

Sherry has just finished creating her newest pure silver shuttle that tats like a dream.

Necklaces and Earrings, a shawl and a garter in progress

Anika has joined the challenge and she is presently showing the pieces she did for Art in the Park like these pendants and earrings.

Jessica demoed tatting at the Piecemaker’s Peddler’s Market and pulled out some of her pieces for the display table including the wedding garter she's working on, The shawl at the left in the picture and the necklaces on the right. She even managed to get several people signed up for classes.

Bracelet, Edging, Motifs, Heart and Bookmarks

Prabhjyotsaini started to make a split ring bag but the design she chose was too much work so she altered the pattern and created a bracelet.

Orsi has designed another edging pattern but can't decide what thread to use for it.

IsDihara nearly finished her motif that looks like a field of daisies, but ran out of thread on the last chain of the last repeat and it's cupping ever so slightly. She's decided that if it doesn't block flat, that she'll go with a 3D design, like maybe a teapot.

Diane tried Cottage Border from A Pattern Book of Tatting by Mary Konior in pink made in Fincrochet No. 30. She`s not sure it`s the right pink but she likes the pattern.

Fox has been trying out one of the patterns from the Tatter`s Treasure Chest, but it`s driving her nuts. Misha has been attached to a pink shirt for the "Boss", who loves it. Some more little goodies were made to send to New York including a white edging that she added a pink crystal and a white bead to so that it hangs like a heart shape around the collar of the dress. She was sent a pink hanky with a matching thread, but she has decided to do the edging in white with tiny green delica beads.

Kat is participating in a bookmark exchange at the Tatting Forum and this is the bookmark she received from Bonnie.

Katherinne tatted these little stitch markers to use with her knitting.

Mary tatted the cross from Monica Hahn`s Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns in Medium Purple and White. She loves making the Black Magic design by Mary Konior and working it up as a bookmark like this one done in soft spring colors. Another bookmark she had to try is the Lace Bookmark by Emsyjane also done in soft spring colors and that finishes her first 25. She doesn`t remember where she saw this edging, which is similar to Curds and Whey by Mary Konior but not quite the same and she had to try it as a bookmark in a pretty pastel aqua to start her next 25.

Wanda sat down and tried drawing an idea she had and little by little things are getting easier. Now some of the things she learned in the Design-Tat class are suddenly becoming clear. Here is a mini bookmark done as a sample to see how well she could tat the drawing she made.

Necklaces, Doily, Edging, Cross and Heart

Justyna tatted a necklace while travelling from place to place and it was borrowed by a friend. Now she's making another in white for a friend's wedding.

Ninetta has finished her 14th motif, an intricate edging about 5.5 cm deep done in size 70 Ecru Anchor thread and added to a fabric square. The finished doily has been promised to her mother in law.

Diane started tatting Mary Konior's "Clover" from Tatting with Visual Patterns in Olympus Special No. 40 but she thinks the white might be too white for the hanky. She took a break from it to tat Camilla from Tatted Bookmarks - cross-shaped by Lene Bjorn in size 40 Lizbeth Caribbean.

Gina tatted Jon's heart again, but thinks she prefers it with the frayed picots after all.

Kelly has finished the cloth edging using size 20 DMC Cebelia, made from a nameless pattern on the tatting index page but she change the second row by adding stitches to the side work. She shows us a picture of the whole thing with a close up of the corner. Now she is starting on a new doily.
