Dolphin, Coin Purse and Motifs

Journey finally sat down and finished Jane Eborall's dolphin pattern in Lizbeth #664 in size 40 even though she broke the thread right near the end of it and had to fiddle with that little problem.

Jessica has created a tatted coin purse pattern which she will be teaching at Shuttlebirds.

Orsi, in response to questions, posted a tutorial on how she made her motif with the woven outer row. The secret is finger tatting the last section.

Linda tatted Nancy Tracy's Medallion and notes that it works up quickly and could be added to a small ring for a sun catcher. The larger medallion is tatted with Lizbeth 40 Lollypop (135) and the smaller is tatted with Lizbeth 80 Vineyard Harvest (131).

Fox used to say designing wasn't her thing. She lied. Look at what she did. If this is what happens when she's sleep deprived, we ought to keep her up late a lot more often.

Doily, Stork, Heart, Edging, Flower, Necklace, Butterfly and Snowflake

Jessica has finally finished the tatting part of the Star Doily from the Priscilla book, but not before she made a couple of mistakes on the joins. Fortunately she only had to cut and re-make small sections to fix it.

Orsi has turned a simple motif into something more interesting by adding an interwoven outer row and ending it off with a large central pearl.

Wanda prepared for a baby shower by tatting Jane Eborall's Stork pattern and attaching it to a photo album for he daughter. The stork is made with Lizbeth white size 20 and DMC Cébélia ecru in size 30 and she had to adjust things a little for the different thread sizes.

Barbara tatted the heart pattern from Be-Stitched in Manuela size 20, # 012.

Fox is making progress on her newest edging. and she laid it aside to work on a different project. She also shares a delightful gift she received from Miranda, a not with a charming little flower and butterfly accent.

Isa has a new necklace in progress from a Turkish web site.

Kelly tatted Sherry's Curly Q from her book The Exquisite Collection of Tatted Butterflies #2 in size 20 HDT thread she picked up at the Fringe. She tatted Nancy Tracy's March 2011 Medallion and then did the same thing Fox did making the pattern on a silver center piece. These were both worked with size 20 Lizbeth Leafy Greens. Then she tatted this snowflake on a ring.

Bookmarks, Motifs, Edging, Earrings and Doily

StephanieGrace tatted Beginner's Choice from Tatted Bookmarks Needle & Shuttle edited by Barbara Foster done in LizBeth Country Side (117) and Blue Med (651). She discovered it when she went to scan this Heritage Cross by Dee Powell from the same book. The cross is done in size 20 LizBeth Gold (611).

 Diane used size 20 Lizbeth Tropical Fruit #107 to tat Emsyjane's bookmark again.

Fox has found that late night tatting can be counter productive as she tried to complete the ring motif in time to give it to an old friend, but she isn't sure she likes the way it turned out. She has been testing out a number of edging patterns but nothing is appealing to her. She likes Mary Konior's Clover, but it wasn't quite what she had in mind and then there is Frivole's "Iris" which she did in Altin Basak #50, but it may take a while to tat judging by this snippet she tested.

Lily is back to tatting and has completed Mary Konior's Small Tatted Cross in Snow White Lizbeth size 20 with gold-color glass seed beads. She has also done the riddle earrings in seagreen dk Lizbeth size 20 with real silver beads, and another pair with tiny clear glass seed beads. More Mary Konior patterns Hope in Lizbeth Boysenberry size 20 and Dress Trimming in Lizbeth Falling Leaves size 20.

Marty is finally able to show what she's been working on. It's a Jan Stawasz doily in Lizbeth medium blue and chocolate brown size 40. Simply gorgeous.

Doily, Bookmarks, Gecko, Motifs, Edging and Crosses

Garyou thought 25 motifs in a year was too much, but on second thought it's just the right kind of incentive to tat more. The first entry is Anne Bruvold's Dragon Wing Doily in Lizbeth size 40.

Kristen started Stumpy and had to put it down part way through, then messed up when she picked it up later. The shape reminded her of the gecko so she modified it a bit to get her own stumpy gecko. Nancy Tracy's medallion was tatted in a variegated yellow/white and she thinks she might try to add another row and make it into a doily.

Nancy spend International Tatting Day (April 1st) in the dog park tatting her latest project, a collar by Gina Butler.

Diane tatted this bookmark pattern from Emsyjane in Hakelgarn size 20 and she's working on 3 different hanky edgings. That's one way not to get bored.

Fox finished the edging she was working on and it's very pretty and delicate on this Lily of the Valley hanky. Her sister sent her some Valdani thread and Fox had to try it out. She doubled it and used it in Jon's Mehurs pattern from her book Tatting with Rings.

Gina finished her folding bookmark and added rows of split rings terminating in tatting covered marbles to the ends.

Martha has tatted Mary Konior's Rockingham from the book Tatting in Lace, first in a solid colour figuring out how to do it all in one pass. Then in a size 10 variegated rayon thread she received from the Tatting Exchange. Then she worked it again with both types of thread and used Jane's single shuttle split chain method so that the colour remained consistent even on the split chain.

Motifs, Necklace, Doily, Butterfly and Easter Egg

Barbara tatted Hope another one from Mary Konior's book, Tatting with Visual Patterns, using Lizbeth size 20in purple.

Isa tatted a flower pendant following some examples she saw on a Turkish web site. The tatted Easter egg is a pattern from Ros-Marié Andersson, one of the member of the tatting group in the south of Sweden. She used size 20 Flora thread.

Kathy shows us the tatting display table at the Maple Festival where they were showing visitors how to tat and all the lovely things that you can make in tatting.

Marty shows us the progress she is making on the Jan Stawasz doily that she is doing in size 40 Lizbeth in white and Cotton Candy. She isn't working it in individual motifs but modifying the pattern so that she can do it in rounds which I agree is a better way to go.

Sherry tatted tatted Lily from her second butterfly book in size 20 Kopper Patina HDT which is a cotton 6 cord thread.

Sue made Patchwork from Mary Konior's Tatting with Visual Patterns in Lizbeth size 40 Fruit Fizz and Lilac Dk.

Dolphin, Dragon, Motifs, Bookmarks and Edging

Journey managed to start her dolphin for the Easter Basket, and then wanted to do something quick and small to pin on her apron at work. The microdragon ended up being teeny tiny, as shown in the picture with the shuttle, but it is tatting that she can wear for Tatting Day.

Linda tatted the medallions from the Yoke pattern in Helping Hands Newsletter, Fall 2008. Some day they will be a shawl. Tatting half the pattern makes a nice fan to embellish or add a bird for a peacock. Linda re-wrote the pattern for a beginner to use, so now you can use it on your CQ.

Cindy is so looking forward to warmer weather that she has tatted a bookmark of summer flowers. It's the Flowers Bookmark by Jill Hanna tatted in Yarnplayer's Summer Trail HDT size 20, complete with a long chain and a little charm for a tail.

Kat's latest tatted cross from Lene Bjorn's book is the Malene cross done in size 20 raspberry pink medium Lizbeth thread.

Sue has been busy tatting this edging from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior. It's called Chain Reaction tatted in Lizbeth size 20 Royal Wave and it's a perfect compliment to this blue shirt.
