Bookmarks, Cross, Doily, Edging, Motifs, Necklaces and Snowflake

BSOTF shows us a red white and blue doily tatted in yarn, which just goes to prove that it doesn't have to be fine thread to be tatting or to enjoy the process of making it and even doodles in tatting can be pretty. The napkin rings she made have been gifted.
Sue has the first 4 rounds of Agasunset's tablecloth done in spite of having to cut a section off and start over. Tattips needle tatted her first motif in Red Rose thread size 20. IsDihara had fun completing the Broomstick Tatted Bookmark by Martha Ess, which was much more successful than her first attempt.
Linda tatted an edging from Contemporary Tatting by Judith Connors with pale pink beads and machine stitched it with invisible thread to the shirt collar. Ancolie tatted an old pattern with squares that isn't very elegant, but it is good practice. Bev has been trying out some pieces for the rosary she plans to make the Cross pictured is by a Danish designer: Inger K and the "medallion" is an adaptation of Judith Conner's asymmetrical motif which is meant to be a mat. Shes decided on Yarnplayer's Morning Glory and Oren Bayan gold metallic in size 40 for her colours. She received in the mail a lovely Badger and Celtic cross bookmark from Jane Eborall and is amazed at the workmanship.
Diane has just finished The Second Day of December from 24 Snowflakes in Tatting by Lene Bjorn and she has plans to tat a lot of these because they make perfect gifts.
Fox is still struggling with lupins and she had to try Mary Konior's Convulvus after seeing it on another blog, but she still isn't finished with Ring A Ring O'Roses which she is doing in forget-me-not-blue thread, dyed by Tatskool.
Kelly shows us a view of the tatted barrette she made with her hair all curled.
Krystle has created a necklace in tatting with Moonstones and tatting in Lizbeth 20 in a soft grey silver colour.
Mica tatted this pattern by Lyn Morton in a lovely variegated Signature size 40 cotton thread in colour M03, but she doesn't like the way it looks. The colours are nice on the spool, but don't translate well into tatting.
Nami did this pendant to match the earrings and finished off the edge of a box with some gold tatting using some lace she saw on the internet as the basis for the pattern.

Doily, Bracelet, Necklaces, Motifs and Eearrings

Magda is making jewellery with more of a Gothic flair like this Queen Margot pendant done in size 20 Madeira decorated with artificial blood red pearls. The Queen of the Night bracelet which is made in black Aida accented with dark rainbow beads. Princess earrings are tatted in black Aida size 20 and decorated with glass rainbow beads.
Tattips found a motif that she designed a while ago named it "Adora" and has decided to use it as a profile picture for her Etsy store.
Fox went to something simple that used to confound her and tatted this simple motif with some beads. Then she started one of Mary Konior's designs in a lovely lavender Coron size 20 received in an exchange, but ran out of thread and continued on in pastel pink with beads only to be stymied by directional tatting. Have you noticed a pattern here of Fox challenging herself with new mind boggling techniques, alternated by plain and simple pieces as her brain takes a rest to absorb what she's learned?

Krystle tatted up a sample of her new Sea Glass HDT to show the colours off better.
Nami has trouble finding a willing model and an attractive background to display her bracelets so she has been trying out some software that lets her erase everything except the lace. These are some of the bracelets she has made. The pendant features sea amber.
Sherry is back on bed rest again and since there isn't much you can do in bed except tat, she is working on a long term project, making a large Diamond Doily using Jane Eborall's pattern, in size 80 Majestic thread. It looks amazing so far and Sherry has also included a graphic of the planned design.

Doily, Snowflake and Fragments

The Guidelines
1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.

---------------

Kkommy is on round 6 of Debbie Arnold's Purple and Teal Square Doily. Diane's Tatting Tea Tuesday was made much more fun by sharing it with tatting friend LaceRN who is working on Anne Bruvold's Dragon Wing Doily while Diane works on a snowflake from 24 Snowflakes in Tatting by Lene Bjorn.
Marty had to give roll tatting a try, so she started with Mary Konior's fragments patterns is called Almond from the book "Tatting Patterns" using some of her sister's light and dark rainbow HDT. The first try she ran out of thread so she re wound the shuttle and tried again but the thread broke when she tried to unpick the ring. On the third try it worked and she accidentally ended up with the colour variations being very nearly perfectly matched on both sided of the fragment.

Edgings, Earrings, Doily, Bookmark and Motifs

Gwen is a new participant and she begins with some of the tatting that she did at the Palmetto Tat Days. Golden Leaves earrings designed by Nina Libin using a class kit with 3 ply gold metallic thread, 11/0 seed beads and Garnet and Grapes earrings also designed by Nina Libin using 3 ply metallic thread and 3 mm Garnet beads. Beady Leaves earrings were designed by Jane Eborall and made with Lizbeth size 20 Falling Leaves and 11/0 Japanaese Delicas.
Isabel was the lucky recipient of some charming yellow tatted flower earrings from Wendy at Umi and Tusuru's blog. Wanda has learned both SSSR Single Shuttle Split Rings and Split Chains thanks to the videos by Linda Davies and Anne Bruvold on You Tube and she's kicking herself for not trying them sooner because they really weren't difficult at all. She's finished the fourth round on her doily and still has 2 rounds to go, but it's already looking very pretty.
Bonnie showed us the beginning of her project which turned out to be Eliz Davis' Blooming Trellis bookmark done in Tatskool's HDT Apple Blossom and a co-ordinating pink in size 50.
Diane likes shuttle shaped motifs similar to Anne Bruvold's "Sandra", which she did in Krystle's size 40 HDT. Then she did Kersti Anear's "Stumpy" in size 80 DMC. She decided to use dome more of Krystle's size 40 left and tweaked the width of Stumpy by increasing the count on the center ring of the side clovers. Then she made two more Stumpy motifs in blue using Lizbeth size 40, color #656 and they'll all be sent over to Chris Hinton for a new shuttle idea. Fox is focusing on centres, but she's not sure why. Every motif has one, and there are all kinds of centres.
Kelly has been tatting a lot of edgings for hankies. The first one has had the extra stitching done that turns it into a baby bonnet. The one with the green edging is a gift for Pat.
