Doilies, Bookmarks and Edgings

Meryl has finished Rows 7 and 8 of the Honey Napkin. She made an effort to relax and loosen her tension on these rounds hoping that it will help everything to lie flat in the end.

Jane used her own HDT Cebelia size 20 to tat this pattern for a leaf braid that appeared in the Anna Burda magazine in May 1984. The original left a little bit of bare thread between rings, but a better way is to tat it using two shuttles and split rings. This cross evolved from a bookmark pattern she did years ago. The original bookmark was an adaptation of another braid from the Burda magazine.

Ginny tatted Martha's new bookmark, although she thinks she tats too tightly for it to lay right.

Julie still has the first bit of tatting she did from when her Grandma taught her how to tat. She found an assortment of tatting when she went antiquing. She thinks her favourite is the variegated pink one. The fabric circle doily with the tatted border is done with one shuttle tatting, which is very pretty and has no chains in it.

Diane met with the Tollway Tatters and was the first to see Sue's suncatcher. Sue spent their time together tatting around cabone rings, based on a pattern by Jon Yusoff. Sue Anna spent her time working on Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel glass mat in size 3 Lizbeth. Marilee taught Jean to tat and this is Jean's first chain. Carrie has only been tatting since December, but look at what she has already accomplished! Thanks to Patti, Diane now own the original cross pattern that she's been looking for since she began tatting and which she finished in size 20 Lizbeth, colour #621 at the Tollway meeting. The cross on the left is the one she figured out from a picture and there's not a huge difference between the two.

Fox used Elefante Algodon Mercer Crochet thread, #80, to tat Oaks and Acorns by Mary Konior for the edging on this 7 inch fabric square. She added a row of crochet before attaching it because the tatted lace was just a tiny bit too big. The Finca 8 being used for the doily is causing her grief, but it has a plush feel and lovely colours, so she will persevere. Lilac thread has her hoping that she can resurrect Renulek's Snowflake doily and finish that last few rows. The Jan Stawsz doily which appears pink on my screen and orange on others, is actually pale peach and ivory.

Martha has created a bookmark with long swirly picots reminiscent of broomstick lace. Which is why she named it "Broomstick” Tatted Bookmark. The pattern is available on her blog.

Edging, Motifs, Crosses, Doilies, Easter Eggs, Cicada, Earrings and Necklace

Jane tatted these tea cloths with the edgings and motifs some years ago. They were recently returned to her having been much loved and used. one of the motifs comes from the Anna Burda magazine, but she doesn't know where the triangular one comes from. She has re-worked the design and posted the instructions on her blog.

Lelia tatted Rosemarie Peel's pattern Three Point Star pattern to practice joins in split rings and she's still finding it a challenge.

Julie finished Mary Konior's Small Cross and just needs to finish it off with a tail. She has been in a marathon tatting crosses and discovered that she needed a few more in a real hurry. These two were done in Size 20 Lizbeth in Sea Scape and Jelly Bean.

Diane posted the unblocked version of Doily VI from Tatted Treasures by Jan Stawasz done in size 20 Lizbeth, Latte Foam. Unblocked because she has misplaced her blocking board. She also finished the pink cross that had been languishing in an Origami pouch.

Fox began a Jan Stawsz doily with Finca size 8 in salmon pink and since reloading shuttles was such a bother doing the Honey Napkin, she has ordered some larger shuttles. Frivole's tatting has inspired her to brush up on cluny tatting. She has also made progress on tatting for the linen square.

Marie used Lizbeth, size 20, Springtime and Falling Leaves to tat a Rainbow Egg bookmark. The next one she tatted in Lizbeth, size 20, Springtime and then one in Lizbeth, size 20, Falling Leaves.

Mica was delighted to find the cicada pattern on line and tatted it in Lizbeth size 40.

Orsi created jewelery using a section of her cross's reborn as earrings. Larger sections were formed into a matching pendant and she has named the set Trinity. To celebrate reaching 150 followers on her blog she's having a giveaway of this tatted set.

Sherry has posted another version of her Empress headdress, this time with colour changing beads.

Sue shows a picture of the doily given away on Facebook and the second doily done in reverse colours.

Doilies, Flowers, Bookmarks, Earrings, Celtic Motif, Bracelet, Necklace, Motifs, Beach Ball, Snowflake and Pins

Gwen finished her clover doily and finally took some pictures of it. She used the flower instructions from Claudia and two different leaf patterns, one from Heather and the other from Frivole, to make some pins for her sisters and nieces to wear on Mother's Day.

Ginny has been tatting bookmarks. The Button Snowflake pattern is by Vicky Clarke, the Owl is by Nancy Tracy, the pink and purple one with the dangle is Marilee Rockley's Carnival Earrings. The next pattern is Marilee Rockley  "Quadrille". The middle of the following picture is Karen Bickerton's and the angels are by Debbie Arnold. The two earrings on the left are from a Russian book and the rest of the earrings are Marilee Rockley patterns.

Julie finished Mary Konior's Mark-My-Words Cross in what she thinks is DMC Cabelia, but she's not sure because the label is missing and  the Rachael Mohler Flower bookmark. Then she did pair of hair clips in size 10 white something or other, and yellow that was on the shuttle left from the cross.

Kristen shows us the slow but steady progress on the big doily. The second row of medallions is finished and the row of chains around them, followed by a row of ring and chain. Now she's into a row of trefoils which is obviously going to take some slow slogging to finish. In the interim she is playing around with interlocking elements; tatting first one motif and then another and adding a row around both. Add another outer round and you get the Celtic Flower from Rozella Linden's Celtic Tatting.

Nancy has another choker and bracelet done, 'Mystic' in the color of Lizbeth's Green Coral Sea, size 20.

Diane had jury duty and during the proceedings almost completed a cross in size 80 Majestic.

Fox used a pattern written up by Karey Solomon from some vintage fragments of lace tatted with some size 30 HDT from Yarnplayer to make this square motif.

IsDihara tatted this beach ball which is adapted from a balloon pattern by Edwige Renaudin found in the Ring of Tatter's 25th anniversary book, using Lizbeth size 20 # Golden Yellow Medium, #671 Christmas Red, #652 Royal Blue and #601 Snow White.

Marie made a bookmark from Sally's Button Egg Pattern in  Lizbeth, size 20, Ocean Turquoise and Salmon.

Mica tatted another black snowflake from Jon Yusoff's collection and has decided it's her favorite one. Made with Lizbeth size 40 in black.

Orsi designed this baroque cross which she plans to put on a velvet paper, and in a gold frame ready to hang. This is the last motif in her 25 motif challenge.

Sherry has designed another retro 20's style headdress. This one she has named "Helen of Troy".

Wanda made the butterfly out of Oren Bayan size 8 thread, the flowers out of miscellaneous Lizbeth thread from emptying shuttles and mounted them on a button, then added a pinback to make a gift for her mother. It came out so well she made a few more. Then tried it again with some different types of buttons.
