Earrings, Motifs, Doilies, Edging and Pumpkin

Dorota had some variegated thread and used  two colours of Toho beads and three 3mm Fire Polish beads to make these Bollywood style earrings. One set to keep and one for the store which brings her to 25 motifs.

Cindy used a fabric with a tatting theme for her bag and decided that it needed a tatted motif on the tab closure. The Square Flower Motif from The New Tatting book by Tomoko Morimoto done in size 20 thread was too large, so she did it again in size 80 but it's still a little large and she's wondering if it might look better in burgundy. At least she has a complete set now.

Diane did a test drive on one of the large bobbin shuttles using size 10 Aunt Lydia thread. She's almost half way through the round on her massive masterpiece doily. Still chugging along on the doily.

Fox found this deceptively simple design a bear to tat and eventually had to add 10 ds per ring to make it lie flat. She's delighted to announce that since she has gone with the simpler design she will have enough thread to finish the hanky edging. She has tatted this design before and likes both the look and the process, which is always a winner. Here are several motifs tatted in size 80 thread. Here's the finished hanky edging attached to the fabric and looking spectacular.

Jenn just had to tat this Double Picot Doily Motif pattern shared in a Facebook group.

Marie has added these earring to her Garden collection.

Wanda wanted to tat something for the state fair and one of the categories was an ornament, so she started with Mark Meyers, Autumn Pumpkin, added a stem and some leaves, but it still needed a little something so she mounted it on fabric with some smaller pumpkin motifs and a scroll of tatting with more leaves to make a lovely fall banner.

Doilies, Edging, Fish, Snowflake, Pin, Angel, Flower, Bugs and Bracelet

Sue managed to get a little more done on her doily and took it out for a photo shoot.

Claire has finished her Norma Benporath doily and she chose to make the outer clovers for the last round (5) first, and then join them as she did the 4th round, which seemed to work out nicely.

Diane finished round 12 of her Jan Stawasz doily which measures 26 inches across.  Round 13 is started. Progress is slow because she has other projects on the go like warping the loom and making baby quilts.

Fox is working on Olympia in size 80 HDT from Yarnplayer, another Ben Fikkert design which is smaller than Buttercups. She's also rounding the corner on the hankie edging.

Marie has been busy with the new house but she still managed to tat this fish by Nami. This First Snow is a pattern from Robin. The pin was found at a yard sale and she kept the tatting simple in lines with the simple design of the pin.

Martha taught one of the angels from her new book, A Flight of Angels, at Palmetto Tat Days and it's one which uses graduated picots which are easier to tat evenly with a picot gauge. For the class she used a "sliding gauge" which she has instructions for on her blog.

Muskaan has posted a tutorial on unlocking a locked join.

Phyllis has posted pictures of the projects from Tat Day, flowers and bugs and bracelets she taught as well as test tatting she did and raffle prizes won.

Cat, Pendants, Earrings, Alligators, Doilies, Leaf, Motifs, Edgings, Dress, Heart, Bracelet, Angels and Lanyard

The Guidelines
1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing me to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. The blogs are ALL checked whenever there is an update using the links list in the sidebar on the right, there is no need to advise me that you have added new content. If your new items haven't shown up, it's because I haven't had time to do an update yet.
3. I can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. I don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell me when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. From past experience I know the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let me know so that I continue to check your blog on a regular basis. Also let me know if once was enough so that I can move your blog to the list of past participants.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
6. Tatting 25 motifs in a year typically means tatting 2 motifs per month. Tatters who do not post any tatting content for 5 or 6 months will be removed from the list of participants.
---------------

Mary Lena tatted the Cat from Inga Madsen's Tatted Animals for a friend.

Julie learned how to make daisy picots so that she could tat this daisy picot Key pendant by Marilee Rockley using Lizbeth size 20 black and #142 with Miyuki 11/0 beads. Her next project is also a design by Marilee, a Maltese ring pendant done two different ways called Echo, done in size 20 Lizbeth colour 165 and Miyuki beads.

Sue has tatted this earring design so often she has it memorized. Her doily is growing but it's raining and she doesn't want to spread it out on a wet tent floor. She finished up a pair of diamond earrings.

Linda needed some 'gators for her Crazy Quilt Pond and both of these are stitched in size 20 Lizbeth 138, Leafy Greens. The top Crocodile is by Jane Ebroall, while the bottom alligator is from Dianna Stevens in her book of Animal Bookmarks. She finished Round 6 on Renulek's 2015 Doily which has been washed and pinned out.

Claire's friend recently became a Canadian citizen and she wanted to make something special, so she tatted a maple leaf pattern from Tammy Rodgers in Penny 30 thread and mounted it on a hand made card.

Diane is making progress on the Jan Stawasz doily and round 12 is almost done. She recently acquired a large bobbin shuttle and tried it out on some size 10 Aunt Lydia's thread and used it to tat Mary Konior's Masquerade.

Fox finished Buttercups by Ben Fikkert using size 80 Lizbeth thread and was surprised that the thread didn't give her the usual trouble. She found a pattern on Sally Kerson's blog and she had to give it a try in size 80 Yarnplayer HDT. She started Robin Perfetti's pattern but found the Catherine Wheel joins cumbersome so she tried out another edging. She does like the look of Robin's design so she might use it for another project.

Margaret and Suzanne have challenged themselves to find things that interest them on Pinterest and tat them. She fell in love with these tiny tatted dresses from Tiny Flowers, but there was no pattern so she worked it out from the picture and tatted it in size 20 thread which was too small so she switched to size 10.

Marie made these earrings to go with the Garden necklace. Tis is a pendant to go with the Garden set. Here's another pair of earrings to go with the Garden Collection. She hasn't had much time for tatting but did manage to tat a Mary Konior heart.

Martha can't read Japanese, but in studying the pictures in Tatting Lace Accessories by Kou Nanami, she has come to the conclusion that there are no flipped stitches used in any of the patterns. Martha's book A Flight of Angels will be available shortly and she's now taking orders for it.

Muskaan shares a bracelet pattern called Bonds of Love. She had some motifs lying around and this was a good way to use them up. Blossoming Bonds is another design she shares which combines a layered flower with a leafy braid.

HisKid shows step by step how she is tatting the lanyard. Tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash and some large beads, this is the finished lanyard.

Wanda got tired of losing patterns, especially the ones she designed herself, so she decided to compile them into a booklet so they'll be harder to lose.
