Snowflakes, Earrings, Motifs, Edging, Shamrock, Doilies, Bag, Skates and Bracelet

Batty Tatter plans to use Eileen's clover snowflake for the front of a cap.

Lilas had a lot of little beads on black DMC size 80 thread, so she make earrings with it. She has been experimenting with different designs, starting with this cloverleaf motif, she added beads to work a whole new design working with black Cébélia size 30, but the thread seems too soft and thick. She started again using Cébélia size 40 in white little Miyuki rocaille pearls and she really likes the effect of the 3 beads on the joins.

Sue has finished the edging she was working on and attached it to the hanky so she can display it at her Lace Group meeting on Saturday.

Lelia's girlfriend saw a tatted trim in the Hens and Chicks pattern and she wanted it. Lelia found the pattern in the Rebecca Jones book, Complete Book of Tatting and she did several samples of it before settling on Lizbeth size 20 in an off white colour to make it. Here is the final project with the tatting attached.

Nancy made Betsy Evans Tatted Wreath in spring colours to sit under the ice cream sundae dish filled with coffee beans. When the candle is lit the house is filled with the aroma of coffee.

Linda cut out sparkly felt shamrock and sewed Susan Taliaferro's Frilly Shamrock on it. Then she tatted a chain edging with lots of picots and shuttle joined in around the felt. These are a few edgings she tried but didn't like. The first is tatted with sulky size 30 and the other two with size 80 Lily Thread. The 4 leaf clover is tatted with size 20 Lizbeth Leaf Greens using a pattern by Mariyas.

Grace's Mom collects teacups, and she thought a cup and saucer set for Mother's Day would be nice. The teacup is worked from a vintage pattern she bought on Etsy. It's delicate, dainty, in fact it's downright minuscule. She's working on this Anne Orr motif but the colour is closer to that depicted in the finished motif.

Diane's students are tatting away. Emma did a length of Josephine chain. Shelby tatted a long section of chain and one of the girls coiled it up to see how the 3D acorn Stephanie sent was made. Diane started round 3 of Labor no. 10 from Frivolite 1 Creaciones Artime. A snow day means that Diane had time to work on her doily. Paige has been working on rings and chains and chose a flamingo as her prize. Brooke patiently tatted two three-inch lengths to earn this tatted lion. After finishing their lessons the kids help one another out with their tatting. Meanwhile, Diane managed to finish two more pattern repeats on round 3 of her doily.

Fox receive a lovely package from Kristen full of tatting goodies. This amazing tatted shuttle case was a gift from Umintsuru.

Marie used my pattern to tat these ice skates for her 10 year old niece who loves to skate. She tatted Iris Niebach's Francesca in Lizbeth Mountain Breeze size 20.

Martha needed a break and decided to tat Robin Perfetti's Woodland Medallion with a square finding.

Sue found the pointers given to her helped her with this edging, although now that she knows how to do it, she's decided that it will take more time than she has right now.

Wanda thought she had everything she needed to make a button bracelet, only to find out that the thing she had forgotten was the buttons, so she used washers instead. Lizbeth black in size 20, silver beads, and 7/16" washers make this lovely lace and she'll have the pattern ready for it soon.

Flowers, Motifs, Doilies, Bookmarks and Suncatchers

Aysh finally finished the third flower for the  Jan Stawasz bouquet, although it wasn't the flowers, but the leaves that took so long. She's hoping that they will hold their proper shape once they're washed and blocked. She tatted the motif from Lyn Morton's book called Water Lily. which she was hoping to use as a brooch for her coat but it was too large, so she has another idea for it.

mb duke has been working diligently on Renulek's Spring 2014 doily and thought she was doing good to get to round 5. The shuttle in the picture gives an idea of how fine the thread is to give such a delicate doily. Here's a close up for detail.

Diane has given her new shuttle a workout tatting the bookmark on the back of the package. Her third graders are doing amazingly well and what is most encouraging is that these are top of the class kids who  have finished their schoolwork early and have the time to practice tatting. Of course the subtle bribery of getting to take home a motif from Diane's tatting tin is certainly encouraging them. Diane had decided on Labor no. 10 from Frivolite 1 Creaciones Artime as her next project and she has rows 1 and 2 completed. That's not a pile of thread in the picture, it's a chain that's over 8 feet long tatted by Paige, one of Diane's 3rd graders. Well done! Those motif rewards are paying dividends.

Fox added solid green DMC for the chains on Renulek's Spring Napkin to lighten it up a little. She is pleased with the way the dds worked for her chains on the first row of the Lucky Clover Doily.

Margaret discovered this tatted window decoration that she did years ago using patterns from an Anna magazine. The basket and the handle are done with split rings, with the flower motifs all sewn individually onto the net and with some beads in the middle of the flowers.

Marie has her doily blocked now and on display where it can be admired as a work of art.

Mica has finally finished the butterfly doily. She did the centre part and then decided to do all of the butterflies in production mode so that they would all be completed at the same time. Now that it is finished, she doesn't like it, and the butterflies that attracted her to it in the first place, are the part of it that she doesn't like. Maybe it would look better if they faced out instead of in.

Michelle thought she hadn't been doing much tatting until she counted up all of the crosses she has finished. That makes 22 done and 5 already given away in a riot of colours. That's a lot of bookmarks and a lot of tassels completed.

Sue tatted another of Sue Hanson's Val's Suncatcher pattern in size 40 Lizbeth Island Breeze with blue plastic beads. Using up the left over thread on the shuttle she tatted Kejora from Tatting with Rings by Jon Yusoff.

Necklaces, Elephant, Edging, Motifs, TIAS, Doilies and Suncatchers

Lilas modified her previous Valentine’s necklace to have 2 overlapping colours and double picots at the top. She used  DMC Cébélia size 30 and rocaille beads.

Sue used some DMC 25 coton a broder and Jane's pattern to tat an elephant for the front of a shopping bag for a lace friend's birthday. The hanky was started last year and finished after Christmas using what she thinks is one of Jennifer Williams patterns from the Ring of Tatters worked in Lizbeth's Pink Cocoa. Another of Jane's patterns is the Fandango Edging done in Valdani equivalent to size 80.

Lelia thinks the picots on this motif from Motifs for Marie by Kaye B. Judt tatted with Lizbeth #622, size 20 and Lizbeth #621, size 20, look like ruffles. Motif 5 from the book are done in  Lizbeth 632 and Lizbeth 663. Motif #6 in Lizbeth 615 and Lizbeth 632 Then there are some doodles, just made for emptying shuttles.

Nancy's newest project is being tatting in Lizbeth size 20 thread in Scottish Thistle.

Linda's first TIAS ship is tatted in size 20 colour 664 Ocean Teal Med looked all right until she realized the last 2 rows are the hull of the ship, so she cut it back, but not far enough. The second ship is done in size 20 colour 153 Rainbow Taffy and 180 Honey Drizzle followed the pattern and she added a bead at the top.

Diane received books and threads and new Moonlit shuttles and had to try them out. Her third graders are progressing nicely and enjoying selecting a motif from her tin of goodies as their reward.

Fox liked Stephanie's idea of using a dds instead of a regular ds for the long chains of the Lucky Clover doily worked here in vintage DMC #80. She tried the dds method with the Lizbeth, but decided the chains looked choppy with the variegated thread. Here's how the first round looked with the wrong stitch count.

Marie has finished the last round of her doily, so it's all done except for the blocking.

HisKid tatted the Silver Charm Suncatcher Ornament from the Big Book of Tatting by Darlene Polachic in size 40 Lizbeth Tropical Punch with silver lined clear beads. The second is from the book by Tina Frauberger, Schiffchenspitze using the first 4 rounds in size 40 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash and Navy Blue with multi-coloured beads placed inside the rings. To use up the navy thread on the shuttle she tatted Kerosang from Tatting with Rings by Jon Yusoff using the same multi-coloured beads.
