Motifs, Doilies, Bookmarks, Flowers, Christmas Trees, Necklaces, Snowflakes, Edging, Angel and Zipper Pulls

Schmath has been taking some tatting lessons and she's ready to take the challenge. Her work from the first level has lots of loose ends, but at level 2 she started hiding ends which made a great improvement. These 3 pieces are her first challenge tatting.

Jane is working on another food cover using Jane Eborall's diamond motif. The star will go in the middle and a diamond in each corner.

Margaret is still worrking on the Tat Along using Lizbeth no 20 Scottish Thistle. Round 3 was easy as it was all long chains.

Maries's favvourite pattern from Martha's book Tea is for Tatting is the Tiny Square Teapot done here in Lizbeth, size 20, Tropical Punch. Here it is again done in Lizbeth, size 20, Falling Leaves.

Lelia loves making Kanzashi flowers embellished with tatting and she has created a pattern sheet with some easy designs for making them.

Anita'a family has a Christmas in July event that she commemorated with a tatted Christmas Tree using the pattern from Nancy Tracy's be-stitched web site.

Marta has made the pattern for one of her necklaces and laboriously produced it for our edification.

Diane tatted her Santaflake in Lizbeth Blue Ice and it's her favourite so The Spinning Wheel glass mat from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior is in Navy Greens, hand-dyed by Jess for h daughter Alison.

Fox tatted an edging around this broach using some of the pearls she found last week. She received a lovely package of tatting goodies from Margaret including a lovely tatted bookmark. The Small Coronet Doily by Linda Davies is correct to this point, it's the rest of it that's giving her nightmares.

Frances used Jess's Serendipity HDT size 40 to create a colour splash edging on a plan dress. She finished the Tat Along Lace Mat size 10 white for a finished size of 27cm or 10 1/2 inch.

Sue got a chance to meet the Tollway Tatters and of course there was meeting and greeting and tatting. Denise even managed to get both wings on her angel.

Wanda tried leaving a picot space between her rings and now the zipper pulls hang without kinks although they still twist a little and the thread is Lizbeth # 652 Royal Blue in size 20. The next one is done in the same colour with gun metal seed beads and a silver butterfly bead at the end.

The Guidelines

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.

Jane is finding stacked dimpled rings are giving her trouble. After reviewing Crazy Mom's instructions she made the stacked ring bookmark and then tried the same pattern in size 20 thread with beads to make a bracelet, but had to start again since the large heart beads needed size 10 thread.

Lelia is spending October 1st, National Lace day, celebrating lacemaking by demonstrating and providing education to the public.

Marta has created something seasonal for October, a cranberry bracelet.

Linda tried this Frauberger Pattern which took some trial and error, but it's finally done, if a bit wonky. Handy Hands sent a free sample of Lizbeth size 3 thread with she used for a bit of test tatting and a bit of embroidery.

Bree has decided that the most recent row of the Tat Along isn't fitting properly and that it will necessitate removing both row 3 and 4 and tatting them again. Personally, I think I'd try blocking first.

Diane's daughter Alison tatted a snowflake with a finding. This design is an extended version of her first snowflake with 5 Josephine knots instead of just 3. Just doodling again she made another one in Blue Ice and she really likes how the next one turned out but thinks it should have longer chains.

Fox wasn't satisfied with the pendant made in pink thread and she found a pearl necklace at a yard sale which gave her a perfect excuse to cut it apart and re-tat. Another of Diane's findings was used here in Karey Solomon's "Cloud" pattern in Lizbeth size 40. She started on another hanky edging, but it wasn't quite what she had in mind so she started another, but, then maybe she doesn't want yellow after all.

Isdihara is stalled on round 2 of the Tat Along awaiting the Lizbeth size 40 Honey Drizzle #180 thread she's decided to use for the next rounds.

Michelle's 12 year old has just tatted the first rings (there's another one addicted). Here's why you should quit tatting and get a bandage after you stab yourself. Round 3 of her Tat Along is done. Here's the start of round 4, and she's working in Lizbeth Deep purple and White size 20. She's elected to use the split ring method for those little clovers.

Sue has been having the kind of week where some angelic help would be nice. The Angel, from Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns by Monica Hahn, tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Tropical Punch. The motif is Masquerade from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior, tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Fruit Fizz and finishes off another 25 motifs.
