Earrings, Heart, Doilies, Edging, Motifs, Bell, Bookmarks and Flower

Dreamn is new to tatting but she has decided to join the challenge with owl earrings from InTatters and Georgia Seitz' split ring heart.

Wooroosa has finally finished the Corona doily. She was a little worried about those chains, but it turned out beautiful.

Marie tatted a sample border called "Blue and White Edging", from Forty Original Designs in Tatting by Nellie Hall Youngburg in size 10 thread. The next border is from The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito also done in size 10 crochet thread. Scalloped Edging #37 from Ann Orr's, Tatting is done in size 10 thread.

Nancy shares her very patriotic red white and blue flag from The Workbasket magazine tatted with Lizbeth size 20 thread. It took about 120 hours to complete and has polymer clay stars.

Diane started the Oval Doily from A New Twist on Tatting by Catherine Austin and gave up on it because the stitch count caused major rippling. The same pattern is also found in other publications with different stitch counts and discussion of the design on InTatters persuaded her to give it another try and she has her variation of the stitch count on her blog.

Fox has been spending a lot of time at the hostpital with her mum and tatting things like Posy by Mary Konior in #80 HDT Wisteria Lane from Krystle. She doesn't remember where this pattern comes from but it's done with the same thread paired up with a matching solid. A final tiny tat in the same colours using a Myra Piper pattern.

Frivole just had to know how Marie made the beaded shuttle bags and after Marie shared the pattern with her she had to give it a try. She didn't like how her first attempt worked so she tried it again and then added a ruffle to the next one. Very pretty.

Kathy added a red white and blue bow to a white bell she tatted in Cebelia DMC size 30.

Michelle made some red white and blue earrings for her sister using a pattern that's fairly common with some sensational thread. She is enchanted with Frivole's Flowering Quatrain Bookmark and her new favourite thread is Oliver Twist with delicate variegation.

Orsi created a pure silk satin top, decorated with tatted lace and Swarovski zircon beads.

Sherry has one more round and some blocking to do and this doily will be finished.

Tattabugg loves pansies and had to tat this one from the Priscilla tatting book. Mary Konior's Maid of Honor edging is being tatted in white size 80. The hummingbirds pattern is by Heather's Designs and she added red beads because she wanted a Ruby Throated Hummingbird like they have in their area.

Margaret tatted 2 crosses from Mary Konior's Pattern Collection, the one on the left uses size 20 Lizbeth Purple Splendor and the one on the right is Flora Green, both with Lizbeth white on the outside.

Anika found a cro-tat pattern and decided to give it a try using an afghan hook and some yarn. The results made a necklace for her new puppy.

Prabhjyotsaini was just playing around with thread and beads when she created this necklace and earring set. She's included the pattern for it on her blog.

Diane has done Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel design so many times that Jane suggested doing it in hand wound threads. So as a trial she used three strands of Sulky Blendables to tat another Stumpy with pretty results.

Fox might not have chosen these colours to tat this design by Myra Piper, but the results of using up left over threads still made a pretty motif. Pressing the pink hanky did wonders for it's visual appeal.

Jess plans on doing an extended version of the Mary Konior Spinning Wheel design doing each arm with a different one of her own HDT threads. The Heart Within by Frivole was tatted in her new colourway called Havanna. The finished version of the extended MK Spinning Wheel is done and shown sided by side with the original version both done in size 40.

Martha tatted Dani the Geek's Celtic Claddagh Heart from a class at the Finger Lakes Tatting Convention and Carolyn Groves' Heart on a Wooden Ring which has ingenious construction.

Michelle is finally home from her travels and couldn't wait to start tatting Frivole's Flowering Quatrain bookmark.

Wanda just got Sherry's book Branching Encapsulation and has already started Thicket of Flowers using Lizbeth size 20 #601 White #684 Leaf Green Med and Cebelia size 30 pink #3326.

The Guidelines

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.

Krysta wanted to do another celtic design and Jane Eborall's celtic snowflake was a perfect choice.

Marie tatted Anne Bruvold's dragon in turquoise and purple size 3 thread for a customer who wanted a dragon to sew on the back of her shirt. Another special order is from Lene Bjorn's Tatted Bookmarks called Maria tatted in size 10 thread in white, with a iridescent filament, and gold, with a gold filament.

Laurette had no idea she was so close to the finish line until she went to do the post that shows 4 tatted bookmarks bringing her up to number 23. The two on the left are Insertion No. 36 from The DMC Book of Charted Tatting Designs by Kirstine Nikolajsen and Inge Lise Nikolajsen. The rings are Lizabeth #633 Dark Purple and the chains are Lizabeth #611 gold and #605 Silver. In ecru and #166 Pink Cocoa is the Overlapping Chains bookmark and Mary Konior's Anniversary edging in variegated yellow and dark purple for the centers. Her next 3 motifs are doilies that finish off her challenge and start her on another one. The Tatted Antique Lace Doily by Darlene Polachic was first tatted years ago all in Lizabeth Carousel #112, then done again recently in Omega size 50 variegated burnt orange and some vintage ecru, then she decided to go down to size 80 DMC and try solid colours. The last one is her favourite done in Lizabeth Blue River Glades, #164 with the chains in ecru. Variegated threads can look awesome or terrible, depending on how and where they are used.

Lelia has been tatting doodles. The dragonfly is Jon's pattern, she used two shuttles for split rings and didn't add beads.

Marta shows us details of the triptych she created. The tatted design in the corners was a further adaptation of a Norma Benporath design which used a round of motifs and and inner edging which was intended to be joined to a cloth. Jon Yusoff modified the pattern to suit her needs and Marta modified it again to create a lovely rectangular piece.

Nancy is having fun making these earrings with seed beads, but she's not to sure about the variegated thread one.

Diane included a bookmark done in Juicy Watermelon as part of her giveaway. She finished Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel glass mat in size 20 Aurora HDT from Jess. Babylace edging is crawling along and she's only finished one more pattern repeat of Chain Reaction. Flowerpiece needs one more pattern repeat to finish the centre and she started another Spinning Wheel glass mat in Yarnplayer's Tourmaline.

Fox tatted Marguerite by Mary Konior to fit around this pink hanky sent to her by Denise. Julie Patterson's Petals variation done in size 40 Lizbeth also in pink.

Jess tatted Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel glass mat in her own Tat-ilicious size 40 Fireflies.

Martha tatted Karey's Hidden Picture Heart in Lizbeth 145 Pink Parade attracted, of course, by the block tatting.

Sherry hasn't had a lot of tatting time lately but she is making progress on her Daisy Doily. Just a little more tatting and a little blocking, and it's good to go.
