Motifs, Shamrocks, Bookmarks, Butterflies, Dragonflies and Snails

Ninetta had a triple challenge with this motif designing a new pattern, finding the right tension, and using two infrequently used techniques, namely the Catherine join and folded rings. It's done in DMC 80 and the finished size is about 5.5cm wide.

Orsi has been working on a flower design, but it isn't going the way she wants it to, so she's going to give it another try.

IsDihara has uncovered a leprechaun romance in bloom and St Patrick's Day greetings are flying through the air adorned with tatted shamrocks.

Barbara has tatted my shamrock bookmark from Transitions in Tatting From Flat to Floral, a quick tat and perfect for St Patrick's Day.

Brigitte was one of several ladies attending a workshop where tatting, twilling, crochet and knitting were being demonstrated. Those who tried out tatting were allowed to select a tatted paperclip to take home and it made a great incentive to give tatting a try.

Diane has finally finished Alexandra from Tatting Patterns by Lyn Morton. She was especially happy to tat the pattern when she found out Lyn is part of her friend Geraldine's tatting group.

Fox has a beaded shamrock done for St Patrick's Day. She tatted a lovely pattern she found on line, but she isn't thrilled about the thread colour, or that fact that she stabbed herself with the hook on her shuttle. OUCH!

Isa tatted this motif from a web page with cotton thread size 20. She has done 25 motifs again finishing with this design she created, done in metal silver thread, with the center being a brooch she had.

Kathy tatted Sharren Morgan's shamrock pattern in DMC Perle Cotton Size 8, Color 909 and mounted it on a scalloped black velvet paper disc.

Sherry shows us the delightful Miss Picadilly sporting the tatting adorned onsie she received from Diane.

Earrings, Pendant, Shamrock, Bookmarks, Doily, Edgings, and Heart

Magda has tatted earrings in gold thread with pearl drops in the centre and long earrings with a pearl drop hanging from the bottom. Triangular earrings were done in silver. Another long pair of earrings in silver have bright blue beads along the length and a matching blue drop at the bottom.

Orsi has provided the pattern for the doily she did recently.

Linda combined a redesigned pattern from Jane Eborall with a pattern from Susan Taliaferro to make this Shamrock bookmark that is set off with an emerald gem and green ribbons. The same pattern was done complete with the outer row of dark green and repeated the centre shamrock to make tassels.

Barbara tatted the Shamrock by Betsy Evans in Lizbeth size 20 in colors 152 and 638 for St Patrick's Day.

Diane's "snowflake" is really the first round of Alexandra from Tatting Patterns by Lyn Morton tatted in size 20 Lizbeth, color #662.

Gina tatted a pendant from Lyn Morton's Tatted Jewelry but didn't put any beads on it.
Isa saw a pretty edging on a Turkish web site but couldn't find a pattern, so she tried to work out a design of her own. Her first attempt didn't quite come out the way she wants it, so she's going to do it again. This motif is another edging she found on a Turkish website without a pattern.

Kat needed some tatting for a wedding card and Jon Jusoff's Entwined hearts was perfect.

Katherinne got bored working on the doily and took a break to tat earrings with and without beads. Her roommate likes the one with beads.

Lily has shown us what she means by painting with thread. In order to get a gradual colour change she has used several strands of thread and several shades of the same colour so that by gradually adding in more strands of the darker threads, the whole piece of lace changes colour by slow degrees. The doily changed too dramatically, but you can see the more gradual change in the flower.

Sue tatted Anniversary from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior in size 10 rainbow variegated thread and used it to decorate a tote bag.

Hearts, Motifs, Butterflies, Bookmark and Doilies

Journey tatted Mary Konior's Queen of Hearts and found the pattern was similar to Kim Millar's Spanish Bookmark. It's done in Lizbeth size 40 #664.

Sunshinecraft tatted a split ring beaded bracelet for the little lady. Then she tatted Martha Ess's Two Hearts in One.
Wanda is tatting a motif from the Priscilla Tatting Book No. 1 in Lizbeth size 20 in 686 and 688, Seagreen Lt and Dk. She made the inner long picots a half inch in length that gives them a swirling effect.

Bev aka BJ used Lizbeth size 20 Denim and some lovely blue/lavender beads that Fox sent her to tat Jane Eborall's butterfly.

Brigitte tatted the same Jane Eborall butterfly without the beads in a different shade of Lizbeth size 20.

Diane has 3 weeks of tatting here, but she's not ready for the great reveal yet.

Fox has decided that this is her best piece of tatting yet because with this heart she corrected every single mistake and made sure she did everything exactly to the pattern instructions. So it definitely is the Queen of Hearts.

Kat has done the Regina cross from Lene Bjorn's tatted cross book again. This one was needle tatted in Lizbeth size 20 Victorian Red.

Lily also tatted Mary Konior's Queen of Hearts in Lizbeth Peacock Blues size 20. Previous attempts were dismantled in order to recover the beads. She has been doing Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel Glass Mat, trying to give it a painted effect and she wonders if anyone else has tried it.

Bookmark, Doily, Motifs, Shamrocks and Heart

Journey started a bookmark pattern by Lenore English in Lizbeth size 40 colours #664 and #642, but she started it in a different place than was suggested and turned in a different place, then ran out of the teal thread. So it's quite a bit shorter than anticipated, but she ran a tie through it, so now it's a wall hanging of sorts.

Orsi has been playing with Napoleon themed designs. First there was a Napoleon Motif, then came a Waterloo edging to surround it, and now she has added more Napoleon motifs in a row outside that to make one spectacular doily.

Kat finished a shuttle tatted Stumpy bookmark, but she didn't like the look of it and she decided to do it again in needle tatting for a much better result. That finishes her 25 and she's ready to start another set.

Linda has joined a "Mug Rug" swap and her mug is decorated with tatted butterflies, flowers and dragonflies.

Gina tatted these Bloomin" Shamrocks in time for St Patrick's day. And these 6 shamrocks and a lucky clover are the Lucky Seven. See her blog for the patterns.

Martha is knee deep in moving and decorating, but she found this little heart and she's not sure if it's someone's pattern or an idea she was working on. Any ideas?
