Bookmark, Doily, Hearts, Motifs and an Easter Chicken

Cindy has started on a bookmark she found on line. Then there is the Starlight Doily from the Tatter's Treasure Chest she started using Yarnplayer's size 20 Summer Trail HDT. Her enthusiasm lagged when it didn't whip up as quickly as a crocheted doily. She likes having lots of projects on the go.

Fox has tatted Martha Ess' heart using Jane's blip-less joins for a really pretty result. Then she did some modifications to another pattern, that didn't work the way she had anticipated. She did Mary Konior's Queen of Hearts and even got the direction changes right, but made a mistake elsewhere, so now she's started it over.

Isa did this Easter chicken which is a pattern by Ewy Persson tatted in DMC size 20 white, red, yellow and 2 beads. What a charming design!

Laura was tatting while she was travelling and has 4 designs to show for it. She has plans to take the best 15 out of the 25 and putting them into a book. All of the designs have bee made with DMC cordonnet special 20 shade 554. She also did 4 of the dragon wing doilies by Anne Bruvold which will make fantastic coasters for her SIL.

Maple Leaf, Insertion, and Motif

Carolyn has done it again, another 25 completed with Tammy Rodgers' Maple Leaf done in Lizbeth size 20 colour 138.

Gina was asked about how she did the insertions, so she obligingly showed the inside of both bags.

Isa was at a tatting meeting where everyone was given a pattern and supplies to tat this motif by Birgitta Geijer which was in the German magazine Lena nr. 12, 2010.

Edging and Motif

Fox tatted this motif found on Elisadusud's blog using Jane's blip-less join technique. Little blips of the wrong colour that happen when you join into a different colour of thread really detract from the lace.

A sprained ankle forced Ingrid to sit and tat resulting in this lovely Maids of Honour edging by Mary Konior, being tatted in record time. Even more wonderful was that it fit perfectly and nothing had to be done to force it into shape.

Motif, Edging, Earrings, Butterfly Necklace and Scrunchie

Orsi has posted the pattern for her triangular design.

Fox has completed the hanky edging, which looks lovely, although the sparkle of the beads don't show well in the picture.

Isa has finished the earrings to match her pendant.

Lily was able to finish the Bedazzled Butterfly from Boutique Tatting by Yarnplayer although she didn't follow the pattern to the letter. It's done with Lizbeth Antique Violet med in size 20 with silver plated beads and findings, pearlescent-blue beads and tiny red seed beads and bugle beads.

Sue used size 20 "Sacred Lotus" HDT by Crochet4U2Dye4 on the pattern for Napkin Holder #2 repeated over and over from the book Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns by Monica Hahn to make a scrunchie for a little girl.

Snowflakes, Necklaces, Earrings and Crown

Shannon is joining the challenge and her first pieces are a snowflake from Festive Snowflakes and Ornaments edited by Barbara Foster done in size 20 Lizbeth thread #628 and the Celtic Snowflake from the Celtic Tatting Knots & Patterns by Rozella F. Linden. Her first big project was this crown she did for her daughter's birth announcement which was completed the night she was born.
Isa designed this pendant in size 20 thread with 2 Swarovski crystals and thinks she will make some matching earrings to go with it.

Lily found an intriguing pattern called Riddle on the free-tatting.com website which her mother thought would look good as a pendant instead of a choker. The long segment is the bracelet and although there are matching earrings, Lily didn't notice them on the web site, so these are her own version. They are tatted with black Lizbeth size 20 and very tiny gold-colored glass seed beads.

Bookmarks, Motifs, Bracelet, Earrings and Edging

Journey has another bookmark done. This one is Kim Millar's Spanish Bookmark, made with Lizbeth #641 size 40.

Ninetta designed this motif, drawing it first. It's tatted with DMC 80. The next motif has 3 rows beginning with simple ring followed by a row in block tatting and a third row of ring and chains, tatted in DMC 80.

Orsi has 3 triangular motifs done and she thinks they look like an iron gate.

Kat did a test tat for Jessica at Snapdragon Lace. The pendants are needle tatted in Lizbeth Boysenberry dark size 20 and the bracelet is needle tatted in Country Turquoise Medium size 20.

Wanda is finally finished with her Trial and Error bookmark and there are a few things that she'd change, but it still works well to keep her place.

Fox shows us how she did the decorative join as described in the antique pattern book. There's no guarantee this is what was meant but it sure looks like the end result. The next bit shows how it looks in use. The edging is done and being attached to the hanky. This is the FUN part. Why is it that finishing things off always seems to take longer than the tatting itself?

Bookmarks, Snowflakes, Insertions, Edgings, Cardinal, Earrings and the Garden of Eden

Journey's first piece in her 25 Motif Challenge is the Small Cross from Mary Konior's Tatting With Visual Patterns, made with Lizbeth thread, colors #664 and #665 in size 40.
Deborah's new piece is the Small Cross from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior and the thread is Lizbeth size 20, Red Burst color 147 which she thought was red and black, but it's red and burgundy.
Kristen wanted some mindless ring and chain tatting so this bookmark from Be-Stitched was just perfect. Then she went off the rails a little, but it was easily disguised by some bright ribbon. The second version worked out better, except that she misread the instructions and the tatting is a little tight at one end, but she has decided that will be the top of her extra long bookmark.
Karen has been a little obsessive about tatting over decor gems recently. So here she has done one in purple and another in green with a ruffled edge, then a different style in brown Omega rayon thread that has gold running through it and another green one with a six petalled flower and a large bead.
Carolyn had to clear out a couple of shuttles and found that the colors coordinated, so she did this little motif to finish off the thread. It's Simplicity by Lyn Morton in Tatting Patterns using Lizbeth size 20 colors 670 & 156.
Ann is honoured that her friend used an edging she tatted to decorate a ring bearer's pillow.

Kelly tatted a cross by Roger at Needle Tatting in Alkin Basak size (50) 30 thread and DMC Cebelia size 20 and she really likes the pattern. She did her own variation of the design and created a snowflake out of it in size 20 DMC Cebelia. Miranda's cardinal was tatted in size 10 South Maid.

Fox has been trying out some different joins. The first one is from a collar pattern in the Ring of Tatters book by Kiniko Chitose. The second is Jane's blip-less join. The best news though is that she has only 4 more repeats left on the interminable, but pretty, hanky edging.

Gina has sewn the inserts into bags for an interesting effect. There was a simple ring and chain edging added to the white one and a simple ribbon drawstring closure. She is thinking of a tab button closure for the black one. Both of these can be used for glasses or scented soaps or a gift bag.
Ingrid has been distracted with crocheting baby booties and it was time to get back to tatting. She auditioned Mary Konior's Queen of Hearts, made a mistake and tried Wallflowers, but didn't like how it was looking, so she switched to Maids of Honour, but is concerned as it seems to bend a little.
Isa tatted 2 pair of earrings from the Italian magazine Mani di Fata, Il lavoro Chiacchierino # 15 The first pair are in size 50 cotton with beads on the joining picots. The pink pair are in in silk thread size 50. The hummingbirds are tatted from Heather's design in size 20 cotton thread.
Sue has tatted 3 projects all made with the same antique motif. The first is done in Lizbeth Fruit Fizz size 40. The second one is the "pointless" triangular shaped design done in Lizbeth Snow White size 10. The tablecloth at the bottom of picture is done in size 10 white. She has been trying to get a lot of ornaments completed and these have been done in Lizbeth Christmas Delight size 20 from another antique pattern. The little triangles have been done in Nave thread.
Vanessa finally had enough sunlight to take a picture of her wall hanging entitled "The Garden of Eden" The elements we haven't seen before are the Bluebirds designed by Anitra Stone, the Robin designed by Jane Eborall, the Wheelbarrow also designed by Jane Eborall, the Flowers and the Shrubbery she designed herself.
