Bookmarks, Motifs, Edging, Earrings, Doily and Snail

Yvonne has been tatting lots of little flowers to empty shuttles.

Hattalahutta tatted Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel glass mat from Tatting with Visual Patterns, except that she deviated a little from the pattern as written and didn't notice it until it was almost done. It's still a very pretty doily done in Idena Dixi that is somewhere between size 10 and 20.

Ingrid tatted Kelly Luljak's clover bookmark the thread is a Goldmann polyester thread that worked up quite nicely. The design was quite easy to do and it made quite a long bookmark.

Tattips just finished off two pair of earrings and put them in her Etsy shop. The first pair called the Small Leaf pattern earrings were tatted in Lizbeth lime green size 20 lime green with lots of Miyuki beads in yellow and two cloisonne beads in the centres. The second pair are called Divya and were tatted in Hakelgarn size 20 with silver beads.

Katherinne was waiting while her sister took an exam and tatted this pattern #50 from A New Twist on Tatting which she plans on using as a hat band on her flapper style hat.

BSOTF shows us some patterns she came up with a while ago including a flower and some crosses and she points out that the motifs and edgings were actually done in yarn.

Fox has used some left over thread and doodled a little but it looks like her mind is stuck on Lupins. Jane's Flowery SCMR bookmark is still growing.

Sherry is celebrating passing the 36 week mark and saying good-bye to the high risk pregnancy category with a new pink and green colourway in silk called Piccadilly. She received a thoughtful "Shower in a box from Diane which included a pink onesie with a tatted snail that will be going to the hospital for the baby's debut.

Shirl is tatting with a new shuttle she created from a recycled vinyl record and she has listed some in her shop

Bookmarks, Snowflakes and Doilies

Ingrid has completed her second floral bookmark and although she wasn't quite sure about it, the addition of the tassel does indeed make it look complete.
Tattips hasn't posted any tatting for quite a while and that's because she was busy making this awesome doily called the Hexagonal mat from Tatting Patterns And Designs by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson. The thread used is Red Rose size 20 in light pink and dark raspberry.

SunshineCraft tatted the Lacy Medallion from the Tatter's Treasure Chest, first in Olympus perle 8, then in DMC Cebelia. She accidentally tatted twice as many chains as the pattern called for, which resulted in a ruffle that she couldn't live with, which is why she did it twice. The dress for her little girl is adorned with snowflakes from Jon's site; the larger one is Featherline done in DMC cordonnet 20 and the smaller ones are Hearts in a Snowflake done in DMC 80. What a pretty way to use snowflakes.

Diane found her King Tut thread and tatted up more Stumpy which, as you can see, tats up a little larger than the Sulky.

Fox promised Jane that she would give the Flowery SCMR Bookmark another go and it does seem to be working out.
Wally has a teaser on her web page of a new pattern book she's working on.

Motifs, Doilies, Bracelet and Earrings

The Guidelines

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.

2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.

3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.

4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.

5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.

---------------

Ingrid just let the inspiration flow and tatted these lovely motifs with some beads rescued from a dearly loved sweater.

Sue is working hard on the tablecloth and she has row 8 completed. Since her table is oval, this one won't be for her.

Wanda is working hard on a doily design but having to try new things and retro tat slows the process down. Here's her progress so far and the snippet we can see looks really lovely. Sue's daughter suggested that the bookmark done in Caribean would make a lovely bracelet, and she was right.

BSOTF is busy keeping the little ones occupied so they don't scratch at the chicken pox. Fortunately she received her own distraction in the form of Corina's giveaway that she won.

Wally shows us the earrings she did in size 10 in white and red with gold beads, based on a Mary Maynard pattern that was discussed in the online class.

Motifs, Necklace, Bracelets, Earrings, Doily, Bookmarks, Leaves and Edgings

Marta created these pendants based on a motif from Jeff's page. She made the necklace and bracelet set as a special request. The earrings were in memory of a vacation spent on a volcanic island.

Linda has some Halloween tatting to show including Mark Myers tatted bat and ghost and the pumpkin by Sherry Matthews. The Halloween cards are decorated with Patty Duff's angel and an attached bead.

Ancolie tatted this motif where all the chains are oriented in the same oblique direction which gives it such an interesting effect.
Diane used Sulky Blendables to tat Stumpy which came out only 1.5 inches long.
Fox received an amazing package from Ann with a lovely tatting press, a charming tatted decoration on the card and a wonderful tatted leaf inside the press. While she was away she found enough time to tat a Quebec Maple Leaf designed by J.Paulson and Jon's covered ring in Tatskool's lovely HDT. She also managed to tat a beaded edging for socks using a pattern from Projects in Tatting by Sheila York. She took the folding scissors received from Aileen on the plane and the colour is a perfect match for Lupins. She finally has Jane's pattern for the Flowery SCMR Bookmark figured out and plans to start it over again.

Kelly not only taught at the Fringe Element event, she also got to take a class with Kaye and she even finished the bracelet they made in class.

Motifs, Bookmarks and Fair Entries

Bree has discovered that tatting is tough stuff. Even though it was put away, it was found, played with, tangled together with everything the cat dragged in and left as a mess. After separating it from all of the other bits of stuff, here it is, ready to be finished.

Sue tried tatting on a ring making Melati from Jon Yusoff's Tatting with Rings in Caribbean size 20 Lizbeth thread.

Diane tatted the Wave bookmark by Sandy Scales and decided to do it again in Sulky 30 wt. Blendables, color #4004 and the whole things is only 3.5 inched long.

Martha came home from the fair with five blue and two red ribbons, not all for tatting. Her "item decorated with tatting" was the lovely hanky which won a blue. Elgiva Nicholl's heart entered under "Needlework, any other", and the Workbasket Crinoline Lady as "Needlework, picture" both won red. She entered one of her button necklace sets under "Jewelry, miscellaneous". Her angel from Ineke Kuperij's Nativity book won blue for "Decorations, Christmas tree".

Wally was making an 8 petal motif by Elisa du Sud but she got caught up in watching a movie and missed a couple of petals.

Bookmarks and Motifs

Yvonne has seen a lot of people tatting Stumpy and so she decided to give it a try. Her first attempt resulted in an oversized ring, so she did it again. The size 10 thread is DMC colour 5109 and the other is Lizbeth, but she doesn't know the colour.

Kat has posted the letter A with a partial border, a letter P that needs to be an R and a letter C that may need a bit of tweaking. These may have to wait until she's finished moving.

Sue has made another cross in the familiar Big Cross from Tatting Patterns & Designs by Gun Blomqvist & Elwy Persson, but this time she has done it in a finer size 20 Lizbeth thread, Caribbean and Lilac Dk.

Marty has a clever picture on her blog. Is it tatting or a birthday cake?

Bookmark, Gecko, Doily, Necklaces and Earrings

Gwen finished her Garnet and Grapes set from the class she took with Nina using 3 ply metallic thread with 3mm Garnet beads. It's a gorgeous design and well executed.
Ingrid has Iris Niebach's Cornelia on the go, but she has to back track to fix a mistake caused by inattention. I lose more tatting hours fixing mistakes because I was distracted by TV!

Corina didn't like this size 20 Lizbeth thread for the earrings, but it worked out really well for the gecko for Martha Ess' book.

Isabel test tatted the cluny bookmark that the online class is working with a beautiful design done in a lovely thread.
