Hearts, Butterflies, Coasters and Doilies

Brigitte tatted earrings for herself using Marilee's HDT Rhubarb Pie size 30 and pink beads. The pattern is by Elizabeth Zipay.
Laurette found a unique way to display her tatted doily. This multicolour doily is a pattern that she found online, but can't remember where. It's made with Lizbeth Carousel thread size 20 and she thinks if she makes it again she'll do the inner chains in white to better show off the inner rings.
Linda has finished the first of 2 Christmas stockings for her niece. This one embellished with tatting will be entered in the county fair. The tatted heart Flag Pin is worked in size 20 Flora and Lizbeth threads. The pattern is by B.J. Heisler and can be found at Heisler's Creative Stitchery.
Krystle tatted the chain rosette with some extra bling in the form of matching pink Swarovski crystals. She calls the pattern "garden Jewel earrings". The earring and necklace set in black are going to her sister. The white rosette earrings are going in to her Etsy shop.
Wanda kicked back for Tatting Tea Tuesday and made these lovely pairs of red and variegated thread coasters.Only one more to go.
Alan created this gorgeous cross based on a bonnet pattern in Aunt Ellen's Tatting Handbook. He has his ordination service coming up on Sunday and if that wasn't reason enough to celebrate, he has been awarded a Folk Art Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Mississippi Arts Commission in the amount of $4400 for my tatting. Bravo! Applause! Applause! Congratulations! Well Done!
Bev received a lovely surprise in the mail a beautiful Martha Ess butterfly and a sunshiny gold doily from her friend Diane L. The butterfly card is for her friend in Sweden tatted in Rainbow Bright HDT fromPamela Meyers) the butterfly is designed by Marty.
Diane finished Susan K. Fuller's Heart's Desire in Coral Reef by Tatskool.
Moni has completed an assortment of motifs and left the ends as it will be easier to sew these medallions onto lavender bags in this way. The small rings on the chains are Josephine rings and it's similar to Vinnies idea. The finished results are wonderful.

The Guidelines

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.

Brigitte is making earrings, the yellow pair is from the split ring bookmark that Jane Eborall's friend sent to her. The blue ones are a pattern by Marilee. Both pairs are tatted in Flora Size 20.


Shirl made this bookmark which measures 4.5 inches in length for her friend Jennifer. The thread used is HH Lizbeth size 20 color 691. Linda started this bookmark design in Lisbeth thread and liked it so much she's going to make an edging for a denim jacket to spice it up.

Krystle tatted the rosette in size 50 but thinks she'll stick to working this type of chain design in size 20. I agree, the shuttle joins can be hard on the hands when you use finer threads.
Wanda tatted the Southwest Butterfly by Tatting Goddess with Lizbeth size 20 thread, Dark Purple #633, Caribbean #122 & Black #604. And received "Green Butterfly" designed by Martha Ess, found in the Intatters patterns which was made with Lizbeth thread size 20 in "Jewels" and DMC Cebelia size 20 white. Nita discovered a lovely bookmark on the internet but couldn't find the pattern so this is her version of it worked in pink and white. Aileen has been tatting but not posting as her laces were intended for various exchanges. First there were the butterflies; Marty's Donna butterfly done in yellow 30 DMC Cebelia, then Sherry's Adonis was done in purple and pink size 20 DMC Cebelia. The frog from Tatting Treats 2 was tatted in size 20 Omega thread. For the tatting charms exchange Aillen did 3 motifs from Patty Duff's Mini Tats. The first 2 minitats were done in 80 DMC thread with 15/0beads and the green one was done in 80 Anchor thread.

Joy would love to be tatting, but falling off the back of a motorcycle has her sidelined for a while.
TattingChic tatted "Star in Clovers" by Jon Yusoff in red and blue for Independence Day.

Wally picked up her hairpin lace loom and mixed the lace with tatting for this headband. The quarter inch buttons she bought have been tatted into some charming bracelets using Karey Solomon's pattern and size 10 ecru. Then she did one in some green Petra and Lisbeth Countryside. The mini hairpin lace and tatting doily by Leonore English was made in #10 in ecru and pink.

Mica's Il Chiacchierino doily is finally finished and it looks lovely. Linda has been using the Shuttle Brother's book "Tatting the Self-Closing Mock Ring for GR-8 Design" and making great progress until the thread broke. The thread is Lizbeth #110 Desert Bloom size 20.

Charlotte tatted snowflake number 4 from Lene Bjorn's 24 Snowflakes in Tatting made with Flora thread.
Kelly converted a bookmark into a bracelet by using DMC nylon thread and adding hook and eyes for closure.

Steph discovered these tatting look clocks on Etsy.

Wanda is working on coaster's for her daughter's birthday.

Kathy added the star which is a smaller version of the “star-from-edging” pattern featured on her February 27 post, based on Edging No. 12, Ann Orr’s Classic Tatting Patterns and a flag pin for a very patriotic candle.
Jeanne has completed the tatted letters for the wedding party along with the beaded flowers for the ends of the bouquet ribbons and some experimental flowers to be used in the bouquets.

Nita has just finished this spectacular doily with 3 dimensional roses tatted around the perimeter. It's made in size 80 DMC Cordonet.

Ellen has another adorable paperclip bookmark tatted with wire.

Anne has knitted a lovely lace scarf with an exquisite tatted edging.Bev has been on holidays and managed to sustain an injury that kept her in bed a good part of the time. Here is "Butterfly Kisses" with pearls. Tatted with a softer Valdani thread for the body in green and Lavender Orchid HDT for the wings, designed by Inga Maden.
Heather received a surprise package in the mail, some lovely snowflakes sent from Jon. She has some earrings ready to go into her shop. After 7 hours she completed "pink for link" in tatting. Her latest UFO became this beaded necklace.

Jeff tatted a bright red maple leaf for Canada Day. O Canada, our home and native land...

Sherry is finally back in her own home awaiting her furniture and doing some remodeling but she found time to do a tutorial on adding beads to your tatting.

Wally has been tatting "Duchess" from Marilee's book "Boutique Tatting" but she had to modify the design slightly because she didn't have enough beads.
