Motifs, Doilies, Earrings and a Cow

Ingrid made this doily in purple and white Durable cotton. The joins are different due to the different way of tatting that her teacher has. Has anyone seen this technique before? Nami has a pair of earrings she made for Killa Ree.
Lily was making progress on the Spinning Wheel glass mat, until she discovered that she had been making unnecessary joins which made it pucker.
Linda started Mom's Pink Doily from Nancy Tracy in size 20 Lizbeth #151-Angels Love. The pattern began to get lost in the variegated thread and after she did 2 of the outer motifs she switched to white to see how it looked. She cut off the 2 variegated motifs and she's going to finish this round in white and then wait for some Christmas Red #671 to arrive to do the next row. Fox is finally happy with her tatting. This is Mimi Dillman's Cluny Motif. She started the square morif again in lime green. One is OK but joining 3 more into it seems to be a bit of a bother. So she took a break to tat another dangle as a gift for a friend she'll be seeing next week. The blue motif with orange beads that she tatted for her eldest grandson, who is 5, is much admired and being sewn onto his knapsack. Grandma is thrilled that he loves it.
Sherry tatted Christel Weidmann's cow from the book Tatting Farm Animals in her "Coffee and Cream" HDT.

Shirl created a felt matchbook needlecase and decorated it with tatting.

Doilies, Motifs, Ornaments, Bookmarks and Edging

Ingrid is joining the challenge and begins with several hanky edgings tatted with Durable crocheting thread which comes in lots of colours to match the hankies. The doily pattern, called 40 tulips, is from Ben Fikkert and the thread is also Durable cotton which doesn't have a size on the label. It's done in the "Turkish" method she was taught.

Nami created tatting as the flower petals with a crystal centre.
Kelly tatted this motif from Lisa Trumble of This 'n' Tat which took her a while to figure out because she hadn't tried tatting rings off the top of chains before using the shoelace trick. The next motif is the Trefoil Snowflake from Vida Sunderman's Tatted Snowflakes made in size 20 Lizbeth Carousel. From the same book Tatted Snowflakes she made the Glitter Snowflake in size 5 instead of the recommended size 30.
Sue shows us pictures of Bethany's progress.

Agasunset has decided to add a colourful section to her bridal work and she made a corsage for the mother of the bride and a smaller version for the flower girl.
Ann found Mary Konior's Beauty Spots was giving her fits. So she trashed it

Brigitte tatted Jon's overlapping chains bookmark in size 30 Star Gem in contrasting colors because she wanted to really show off the overlapping chains.

Fox managed to complete this motif, although she broke her promise to not use beads and to slow down and take her time. She just wanted it finished.
Marty tatted another .75 inch ornament, but she's finding that she has to use finer threads for these smaller ornaments so it isn't getting any faster. This design is her Lock Chain Ornament Cover using only 3 repeats with DMC size 80.
Sherry decided on a simple meandering edge to finish off her doily.

Bookmarks, Motifs, Heart, Earrings, Doily, and Flower

BSOTF shows us how kids can turn your practice pieces into bookmarks. This pen holder has been decorated with a flower bed, but there are lots of options for making your own.
Marta is working on a green theme. A motif by Iris with beads and silver wire, a turquoise square and a framed green heart.
Nami has new earrings called cherry orchard.
Kat got some of Dr Vonthreadmore's blue/green test thread and tatted a Stumpy bookmark to keep. She's making slow but steady progress on Piecework by Mary Konior.
Katherinne was doing really well with her doily, or at least she thought she was, until she realized that she had made a mistake and had to cut off the entire third row and start it again, correctly this time.
Wanda decorated another candle holder in tatting using a variegated Lizbeth thread but now that it's done she thinks a solid colour would look better and has plans to add beads to the next one. Aileen has tried out Jane's Button Mini in size 20 Lizbeth Lollipop, with 11/0 purple beads and a spring green button.
Ancolie is starting another 25 motifs to improve my technical know how and has plunged into "The tatted artistry of Teiko Fujito" which was going really well until she cut a thread near the end.
Krystle is sporting a pair of earrings she whipped up to wear to the I.O.L.I. convention
Shirl has a collection of pink and green motifs done in Lizbeth thread size 20 completed that she's counting together as motif 23.

Doilies, Ornaments, Necklaces, Motifs, Heart and Snowflakes

BSOTF shows us some of the pieces from her box of practice bits.
Ladydoc is making progress on her 6th motif.
Orsi has had to take a break from working on her suit because she ran out of thread. While she's waiting fro the thread to arrive she looked at a picture of a bell flower found on the internet (it looks like a Mary Konior design) and decided to make her own version. Here are the pictures of her 2 variations.
Lily wasn't happy with the spinning wheel glass mat in green, so she started over again in creamsicle orange and cobalt blue, which sounds odd but looks quite lovely.
Sue regained her calm and chilled out tatting the Tiny Snowflake from Tatted Snowflakes by Vida Sunderman in Lizbeth size 20 Royal Wave. She started another snowflake from an on-line pattern, only she discovered that the instructions weren't for the pictured pattern, but for Vida Sunderman's Sparkling Snowflake, again it's done in Lizbeth Royal Wave. The star is her own invention also done with the same thread. Agasunset is waiting on crystals and had some time to work on another challenge. She was asked to make a choker with some trailing pieces to be worn with a backless dress.
IsDihara has tatted Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel glass mat in Heather's Bali HDT size 30. Now she's looking at the colour flow and wondering what other combinations would look like. Mary Konior's Queen of Hearts was done in Lizbeth size 40, color #139 Fruit Fizz and #696 Autumn Orange medium. In between she taught her niece how to tat and here she is proudly showing off her first few stitches.
Fox was joining the last side of the third motif and things went horribly wrong, so she has put it away for another day when she is feeling less stressed over it.
Heather is recovering from a lightning strike near the house that knocked out the internet and a lot of other things. While she was without service, she managed to tat this interesting necklace.
Krystle re-did the bride necklace in black with matte black beads and she's adding it to her shop, working on her goal of having 100 items listed.
Marty has two more ornaments completed, again made from Lizbeth 40 on 1.5 inch glass ornaments. The pattern is Ruth Perry's Celtic Snowflake 2008 using just five pattern repeats laced together with a single strand of the colored thread to hold them on the ornament.
Sherry has created a doily that demonstrates what she calls structured randomness which combines free flow with structure. Very pretty.
Shirl joined a swap that is making little altered pillows and this is her version with tatting atop a tiny felt heart.
