Motifs, Edging, Heart, Tardis, Doilies, Angels, Necklace and Earrings

Barbara tatted another motif from Jon Jusoff's book, Elegant Tatting Gems, called Kencana, worked in Lizbeth size 20, #637, Country Grape Med.

Lelia tatted this motif from Minitats, 69 petite motifs, by Patti Duff, in size 20 Lizbeth, Col. #696.

Linda shares her turkey with a tatted edging done in bold festive colours.

Grace hasn't posted any tatting since February and got dropped of the update list. (Sorry, I don't have the time to daily visit blogs with no new content, so if you go 5 or 6 months without any tatting, your name will be dropped. Just email me to let me know that you are tatting again.) This heart is from Learn to Tat by Janette Baker done in Aunt Lydia's and DMC Perle Cotton. The Tardis from Anne Bruvold's pattern was tatted in size 10 Lizbeth, in what Grace thinks is Royal Blue. It was made for her daughter who was in the hospital and it was well received. She did an earlier trial run in light blue. This heart also from Anne Bruvold tatted in  both size 10 Aunt Lydia's and size 10 Lizbeth. Emma Crew's 34 Hearts, available through use of the Wayback Machine, has 33 hearts in the construction of one large heart. Her nephew's flannel burp cloth was crocheted around the edge in single stitch, then chains and picots in Lizbeth Cream size 10 were added. She notes that the Lizbeth was quite stiff and if she were doing it again she'd use perle cotton because it's softer.

Fox continues work on the Danish doily. She tried several colour combinations, but decided that the ivory thread was the best choice. The multitude of picots, and several re-starts, combined with the unfamiliar weight of the GR8 shuttles has made this slow going.

Margaret has been tatting her favourite 3D Angel by Katie Johnson in both white and Lizbeth Ice Blue size 20. She has modified the pattern so that she doesn't have to glue the skirt to attach it to the body. She has also tatted Anne Bruvold's SSSR Angel in both white and Ice Blue.

Marie tatted this motif motif with Lizbeth, Denim Whispers in size 20 and sewed the beads on afterward. Corina's Beaded Flower Pattern was the inspiration for this set done in Lizbeth, size 20, Mocha lt and Sea Green.

Necklaces, Bracelet, Flowers, Doilies, Motifs, Wreaths and Snowflakes

Debbie is working through the Marilee Rockley course, but decided  to practice some more basic rings and chains with picots and make these necklaces. the first is a simple pattern for a Celtic edging that she threaded ribbon through. Then she was back to the course and tatted this piece, the Rhapsody necklace.

Cigdem used multi-color metallic and gold polyester threads, peacock AB, teal blue-green faceted teardrop crystals, Japanese seed beads and fresh water pearls in this piece. The slave bracelet is tatted with black cotton thread and jet black faceted rondelles. The original pattern is an antique pattern that was used for edging on the table mats from Tatting with Two Threads, first published in The Queenslander in 1937.

mb duke shares some of the projects she completed, created by Jan Stawasz, a remarkable tatting designer who recently passed away.

Marta used differently placed beads in this second ANKARS style design that she created. The challenge with this one was spanning the wire frame.

Diane is one third of the way through the final round and the doily is looking amazing.

Fox is using a pattern from a Danish publication and working with Altin Basak size 50 and Lizbeth size 40 she's anticipating that this doily she's making for a friend, will be about 8 inches across. Fox is also remembering Jan Stawasz, posting a piece tatted by Jan.

Margaret tried the door wreath pattern with the tiny JKs, but she didn't like the thread and didn't like the red that was too pink. So she did it again with red seed beads, but the beads are too small and she still isn't happy with it. Margaret has posted her tribute piece to Jan Stawasz that she completed last summer.

Marie found a pin with several hummingbirds and she created tatted flowers to showcase them. The tatting was done with Lizbeth, size 20, Azalea and Spring Green.  That completes the 100 motifs that she challenged herself with.

Martha shares the quilt block she completed for Palmettos.  The pink flower on the left is from Jan Stawasz's Tatted Treasures, the large medallion with rick-rack is a vintage pattern from a Needlecraft magazine, the small white rick-rack flower is from the book Vintage Tatting & Crochet Book 1, edited by Barbara Foster and the larger white flower she just whipped up to fit in.

Mica tatted the Minaret Snowflake from Vida Sunderman's book to include in a thank you note. It's done in special dentelles 80  thread in ecru with beads.

Mistene finished her 25th motif 25! It's Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel Glass Mat from Tatting With Visual Patterns. She has plans to do another challenge but at the moment she's stalled on Firus, the last motif she needs to complete in Jon's Elegant Tatting Gems.

Wanda created yet another bag, this one with a snowman. Here's the whole collection on display at the craft show.

Snowflakes, Motifs, Christmas Trees, Doilies, Edgings Shuttle Cases, Collar and Wreaths

mb duke received a lovely package from England full of tatting treasures including a tatted button pendant. She made this snowflake pattern by Renulek using Altin Basak white/silver metallic size 50, but, as you can see there's a mistake in it. This one will go on the back of the tree and she'll make more as gifts. The snowflake from DMC's Festive Tatting and is also done in Altin Basak in white/silver metallic size 50 and it came out perfect.

Barbara tatted another motif designed by Jon Jusoff working in size 40 Lizbeth thread #694 which is a finer thread and nice for a change of pace.

Ginny has finished her tree and fully decorated it is set up the museum. The museum opens for the tree festival on Dec 1.

Nancy has more pictures of beaded Christmas trees to share.

Diane's goal was to have this doily done by Thanksgiving but with each repeat of the last round taking over an hour, that doesn't look like a realistic goal. She's got one quarter of the round done and no time to blog, she has to tat!

Fox is working through Iris Niebach’s Eleonora using Sulky thread that reminds her of Lizbeth's Vineyard Harvest, which is one of her favourite colours. She wanted just the right colour to match this hanky and she thinks she found it in a Sulky Blendables thread which works well with this pattern. Here is Eleonora completed and it's biggest challenge for Fox was the joining of the chains. Vinnie’s Spring Doily has a similar joining of two chains as Eleonora. As a break from the edging, she remembered this seasonal motif done in size 40 Lizbeth but she's having trouble attaching those JKs with a shuttle join to the space before the JK and after the last ds. Her next try at the wreath is better, but still not what she wants.

Kristen received her exchange package from Vicki which included these marvelous tatted motifs. She has been doing some holiday tatting in preparation for teaching her second tatting class beginning with the Little Ring Snowflake from Vida Sunderman's Tatted Snowflakes, tatted in size 80 DMC. Also done in size 80 DMC, Snowflake 5 from Festive Snowflakes and Ornaments edited by Barbara Foster. This is Lizbeth Wedgewood Dk (#656) size 80 used for the Cloverleaf Bell from Monica Hahn's Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns. Her final snowflake is from a Russian book and is on it's way to someone in the US.

Marie designed these shuttle cases to protect her sterling silver shuttles. The first 2 were made in size 80 thread and the green case was made with size pearl cotton #12. This broken broach she found at an estate sale was tatted around in Lizbeth, size 20, in Antique Violet.

Michelle tatted this snowflake in Lizbeth white, size 20 and she thinks the pattern is from Festive Tatting. This one is also from Festive Tatting, again done in Lizbeth size 20. This next design by Marion Leyds is from Tatting for Today.

Orsi shows us her prodigious tatting, dozens of motifs and yards of lace and finally an amazing collar.
