Angels, Doilys and Bugs

Kelly has tatted a trio of angels. The large pink one is made using Southmaid size 10 thread and the smaller cream ones are made with DMC size 30. The pattern is by Teri Dusenbury.

Wanda shows us a cool little doily she came up with, using DMC size 30 thread in ecru. Hope she writes out the pattern. She also took Debbie Arnold's (of DS9Design fame) seahorse pattern and modified it into a standard horse head. She used Lizbeth size 20 thread in Caribbean.

Ellen has created another paperclip bookmark using wire and star sequins. Very patriot, and with Canada Day and Independence day coming up this week, these would make great gifts. The pattern is available at Georgia's site (link is for the 2009 index).

Alan has crocheted a bonnet and bootie set for his Serta Counting Sheep and added some bling in the form of a tatted tiara with a Swarovski crystal. Tatting makes everything look better.

Martha was experimenting with Single Shuttle Split Rings (SSSR) and came up with a tatted lanyard using butterfly beads. Who wouldn't want a buggy lanyard?

Tattingchic shows us the pretty tatted heart that Pamela sent her. Pamela also sent her a card and some HDT. You can see pictures at Tattingchic's blog.

Wally took a purchased canvas tote and decorated it with markers, stamps, and buttons with tatting added to them to make flowers and butterflies. Very cool.

Charms, Dragons and Teapots

Linda tatted this teapot from "Tea is for Tatting" by Martha Ess in Lizbeth size 20 and it's just the right size for a fridge magnet.
Krystle shows us the original Spinning Wheel glass mat and her own smaller version made into a pendant.
Vinnie shows us what she did with Sherry's Chatelaine edging.
Jeanne has been testing methods of tatting SSSRs and doing joins.
Ellen has been playing with paper cuttings and decorated this flowerpot with a bouquet of tiny tatted flowers.
Heather is surrounding herself with dragons of all sizes.

Joy is working on a hen & chicks edging with Flora size 50 thread.

Maria created this bracelet for a charm exchange. The butterfly was designed by Iris Niebach and tatted in Cebelia and Babylo threads, size 20. The pin and the necklace were also for the exchange.

Angels, Earrings, Bookmarks and Dragons

Administration Note

This blog is a lot of fun for the tatting world, getting to see regular postings with tatting content, but it's a lot of work for those of us who provide you with the condensed version of these tatting delights. Some people join in and then have other things like work and family that take their time. In order to make things easier for the team that does the work I am going to be ruthless and delete all of the names in the links list of people who haven't posted any tatting content in months. If your name got deleted and you are still participating, email me and I will add you back to the links list. I have had some people volunteer to help out, but we could use more. The more people we have to help, the less any one person has to do.
Mica has been trying out onion rings and makes the observation that when they are done in rings they seem to stack, but when they are done in chains they lay flatter.
Wanda designed an angel some years ago and recently she has added a modification to it. Here are both versions done in DMC 30. She participated in the inTatters bookmark exchange and did several variations until she settled on a design similar to this. She just had to do an extra so now she has a little gift for whenever she needs it.
Heather is on a roll making lots of tatted earrings and dragons using leaf shaped sequins.
Sherry has completed Iris' TIAS made with some of her lovely HDT "Rose Petals" and she notes that it took her 2 skeins of HDT and about 40 yards of the contrasting black thread. Sherry made the same design but it only took her one skein of HDT. One of the problems with HDT is that dyelots can vary drastically so if you are working on a larger project the sensible thing is to buy more than you think you need and then buy one extra in case you make an irreversible boo-boo and have to cut something out.

TattingChic posts a lovely celtic tatted bookmark she received from Ruth Perry.

Snowflakes, Leaves, Butterflies and Earrings

Mica was cleaning when she found this grouping she did from Mini Tats all done in DMC ecru size 80.
Krystle is excited that she has samples of 3 generations of tatting and it's soon to be 4. Here are the samples from her grandmother and great grandmother. She's waiting on a piece from her mother. After making a lot of earrings for friends and the shop, she finally made some to keep in a lovely Tencel hand dyed thread.
Kelly made a lovely necklace and earring set for herself. She needed a treat after several trips to the hospital and gall bladder surgery.
Jeanne turned Anne's Ringtrim dragon into earrings in size 20 Hakelgarn hand dyed by Sherry Pence, aka LadyShuttleMaker. The darker variegated is her Swamp Flower and the lighter is her Pear Glace'
Aileen has tatted Jane Eborall's elephant and named him Ello. Ello was done in size 20 thread in grey that she got from Hongkong and some 20 white Haklegarn for his tusks. Anne has tatted Linda Davies's doily in blue and white and it's just stunning!
Heather survived her daughter's surgery and has some new tatted earrings to show for it.

Joy is working on a remembrance quilt and has some more blocks done with tatted butterflies.

Martha is working on the "Exercise Your Stash Challenge", and tatted the Peaceable Heart from Make Many Merrily by Karey Solomon in a variegated rayon thread. Then she found this lovely leafy YLI variegated thread about size 60 which she used to tat a maple leaf a variation on a Workbasket pattern. Camouflage anyone? This next leaf was tatted in Clark's O.N.T. Brilliant which seems to be a perle cotton.

TattingChic won these 2 tatted snowflakes from a giveaway.

Bookmark, Earrings and Doily

Brigitte tatted these lovely earrings with white Lizbeth thread Size 20 and gold metallic beads. The pattern is from Marilee Rockley, aka Yarnplayer. The bookmark was tatted before she joined the 25 motif challenge. The thread is Altin Basak 50 and the pattern is by Sherry Pence.
Sherry decided to tat Iris's TIAS, in the new HDT (hand dyed thread) "ROSE PETALS". She'll keep track of how much HDT is required.
