Motifs, Snowflakes, Christmas Trees, Doilies, Wreath, Pendants, Angels and Cross

Elsa has three dear friends, for whose birthdays she created personalized pens decorated with tatting. She made this snowflake utilizing split rings and split chains and shows how it is made using two different methods in a tutorial on her blog. She was inspired by the architecture and stained glass windows in a castle in Loire. The bullet-shaped pattern on her old DMC magazine "The Tatting" became the focal point above the door. Small tatted motifs create wallpaper bordered with copper DMC embroidery thread for gold highlights. The final result is this 10 x 15 cm postcard.

Mary Lena created this charming Christmas Tree just in time for the holidays.

Julie  made this Glorious Blossom pendant by Marilee Rockley in Lizbeth size 20 colour # 165. Just gorgeous.

Diane finds Round 17 of her Jan Stawasz Masterpiece doily enjoyable to tat since the pattern repeat is easy to remember, and she can sit down and work for a few minutes for a great feeling of accomplishment. Marking the points where the pattern changes has made it easier to avoid mistakes. She's managed to tat around four motifs and the doily is growing. Her nephew's wife hung a group of Diane's tatted pieces and even included a discarded piece, the blue on the right.

Fox is focusing on snowflakes. A brand new great pattern from Renulek is actually a wreath, but Fox did it in white with tiny bead accents. Then Posy by Mary Konior in DMC Cordonnet Special #60. Two pretty snowflakes by Robin Perfetti in Karey Solomon’s HDT, #40. She is currently test-tatting Winter Frost for Robin. Here it is in #60 DMC Cordonnet Special. A few days ago, she completed another of Robin's pretty snowflakes. She's glad the Stawasz doily wasn't working out because it gave her a chance to switch to size 80 thread and she's loving how it's working out.

Margaret tatted the snowflake day 14 from 24 Snowflakes in tatting by Lene Bjorn in Lizbeth size 20, for the front of this card.

Marie tatted more small ornaments for her show. Her new collection of designs features keys with tatting, like this one in icy blue with sparkling beads. The keys with tatting and hearts, are titled The Keys to My Heart. This rusty key was shined and covered with nail polish before being covered in pink tatting and gold beads. These silvery snowflakes were received in a give away. The heart on this little key says made with love. This key was tatted with a dusty blue/tan, pearl cotton #12 thread.

Martha has shown some of her tatted angels both with traditional hairpin lace on the left and with tatted mock hairpin lace on the right.

Muskaan test tatted Robin Perfetti's new Winter Frost Snowflake. Then she played around with padded double stitches and shows her results.

Sue test tatted Elaine P. Gan's dainty Victory Cross in size 40 Lizbeth Raspberry Pink Med. and Tropical Punch.

Snowflakes, Angels, Christmas Trees, Bracelet, Motifs, Doilies, Edging, Ornaments, Crosses

Batty Tatter found some new halo beads for the angels and she's still playing with two different threads for the snowflakes. Jane has just posted a new snowflake a bit similar to this one which she can't wait to try. She did another tree using a thread with a frosty filament in it and added gold sparkle paint.

Elsa has discovered animated Gifs and has added a series of tutorials to her blog.

Mary Lena shows us a bracelet designed by Tatyana Buyvolova that is quick and easy to do.

Julie shares a tatting memorial for Paris using designs from Lacework Tatting Lace by Emiko Kitao.

Sue has joined a snowflake swap and has been tatting designs by Jennifer Williams. The first two are from her snowflakes book, and the third one is from her Christmas book.

Linda shows some of the quilts and wall hangings she has done over the years, several of which have included tatted hearts, medallions and various tatted bits.

Diane realized that she'd missed the pattern change on her doily, but she's already fixed it and she's back on track. Three motifs finished correctly. Since she's made the same mistake twice, she decided to mark the significant points of the doily to avoid future problems.

Fox kept feeling like something wasn't working with this Jan Stawasz pattern and realized she'd made a mistake early on and she doesn't have enough Karey Solomon HDT, #40 thread to remake it. Taking a break from the larger pieces, she worked on some Mary Konior motifs tatted with the remaining Karey Solomon HDT. Then another of Frivole’s latest pattern, Snowdrop, this time tatted in DMC #60. The larger snowflake was done earlier in DMC Cordonnet #30. The Hedgehogs edging isn't hard, but it is time consuming.

Margaret has been working from Tatted Snowflakes,  by Jennifer Williams and the first is called Alison. Catrin is a celtic design done in two parts. Working with 2 colours she tatted Ruth. Lynne is tatted around a ring and she used Jon's method rather than the way in the book. all of the snowflakes were tatted in Lizbeth size 20.

Marie is getting ready for a craft show on the 21st so she has been replenishing stock and tatting little Christmas balls by wrapping the lace around a little 1" squat ball.

Martha created an angel combining hairpin lace and tatting years ago and shared it with the online class. This hairpin and tatted angel is one she taught at Palmetto Tatdays this past year. She really likes the look of hairpin lace and has added information on real and mock hairpin lace to her blog.

HisKid's first cross is Bible Bookmark from Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns by Monica Hahn tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Autumn Apple Pie. Next are Traditional Crosses from Tatting Patterns by Lyn Morton, one tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Sherbet Delight, the second Sky Blue Med. The Monica cross from Tatted Bookmarks-cross-shaped by Lene Bjorn is worked in size 40 Lizbeth Green Coral Sea. The Heritage Cross from Tatted Bookmarks Needle & Shuttle book edited by Barbara Foster is tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Wildflower Garden. Jane's Bookmark Cross is tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash. Corina Meyfeldt's 1 Shuttle Bracelet, Beads All Around is tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash with larger light green beads, which she'll use as a decoration, as it turned out too short for a bracelet.

Wanda finally got her Queens Crown Edging attached to the table runner. The Eleonore Edging Wanda designed was made using Lizbeth Leaf Green Medium #684 and Ecru #603 in size 10.
