Crosses, Heart, Doilies, Baby Bonnet, Turtle, Bracelet, Earrings and Edging

Mary Lena tatted Maria, a little cross pattern from the book by Lene Bjorn Tatted Bookmarks - Cross-Shaped.

Julie shows an example of lock joins using a Stawasz design. Autumn colours were used to tat this Mary Konior heart for Mother's Day. The finished heart has been mounted and framed.

Linda is working on the Lace Mat pattern by Norma Benporath using the chart drawn by Jon Yusoff tatting in size 20 Lizbeth 153 Taffy Thread.

Diane started on the motifs for round 10 and decided that she'd do the finishing part of round 11 at the same time. On taking a second look she realized that she didn't attach the motif in the same position as called for by the pattern, but it doesn't seem to matter to the over all look of the design. so she thinks she'll keep going. She seems to have joined the first ring of round 11 in the wrong place, but she's going to leave it for now.

Fox used these lovely gauges on her ovals and while it took her a while to get used to them, it did make for lovely consistent ovals. She's made progress on the cap but it isn't cupping very much so she may order some size 20 and make a smaller one. She didn't think she'd attempt something like this a year ago, but here it is just needing to join the ovals. The twisted chain that outlines the ovals is fussy enough, but when the thread splits and fuzzes, it makes it even worse.

Lilas has found that in English or French there is always discussion on front side/back side tatting.

Marie needed to use up some thread on her shuttle and created this little turtle. She made another one of Jane's, "Starry Bracelets". It needed a little something to match. Here's another earring variation.

Sue was requested to tat these 4 dangles and she usually has larger rainbow crosses on them, but the person wanted small crosses. The Eternal Love Cross from Elaine P. Gan tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Niagara Falls is for her mother in law. This one tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Angel's Love is another cross for one of the seniors. The Sanctification Cross from Elaine P. Gan is tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash.

Wanda tatted her Mandy Edging in Lizbeth #136 Autumn Spice in size 10 for another runner. She didn't plan on it, but when paired up with the fabric they were a perfect match.

Bookmarks, Bracelet, Earrings, Pendants, Baby Booties, Doilies, Baby Bonnet, Motifs and Edging

Julie used Yarnplayer's Sugar Maple HDT to tat Mary Konior's Black Magic from Tatting With Visual Patterns. She used a lock stitch chain and a modified section of the design for a tail.

Sue received her copy of the Ring of Tatters newsletter which resulted in this lovely bracelet being tatted while she lazed in the sun drinking her coffee.

Nancy has a necklace and earring set done using the "Landing" pattern by Tatting Box. She also has a charming pair of tatted booties done.

Diane is almost finished this round of her "Masterpiece" doily. This is round 9 completed of the Jan Stawasz Masterpiece, and it now measures 19 inches.

Fox found the problem with the oval design. It seems a chain didn't get joined where it should resulting in a missing pattern repeat. She fixed it by adding an extra ring, and it looks okay at first glance, but adding the next row might ruin it so she's going to stop for now. The cap that refused to cup is starting to cup now that she's using the right thread.

Kristen tatted this interwoven piece and used size 20 for the white and size 40 for the colours. She met up with another Canberra tatter they have both been working on a Jan Stawasz pattern from Tatting Theory and Patterns. Lots of individual motifs have been tatted.

Marie made this lovely bracelet to go with her swirl earrings. One design led to another and she made this bracelet. What's a bracelet and earrings without a pendant? Here's the complete set.

Muskaan experimented with inverted curled tatting and concluded that it's a great technique for 3D designs. The pattern for this example jewellery motif is available in PDF.

Phyllis has been doing a lot of test tatting by in between she made the green doily, from the Spring 2015 issue of the Bulletin of IOLI, called Whirl by Randy Houtz.  The snowflakes are from the book The Complete Book of Tatting by Rebecca Jones.

HisKid made this bookmark for one of the men in the senior's group who likes yellow and white, so she used size 40 Lizbeth Pineapple Parfait for this bookmark.

Wanda tatted her own "Mandy" Edging in Lizbeth #694 Harvest Orange Medium and #692 Mocha Brown Dark size 10 to border a runner.

Doilies, Motifs, Owl, Mouse, Bookmarks, Bracelet, Earrings and Doodles

Gwen can move on to row three on Renulek's Spring Doily 2015 which got put on hold when she was making Easter eggs.

Mary Lena found tatting these medallions in a rainbow of colours relaxing.

Julie shows how she dealt with thread ends so that they didn't show in her variegated thread lace.

Sue read the instructions incorrectly, so this is the second try at the Jan Stawasz Monster Doily. She almost got round 2 done, but ran out of thread. She re-filled her shuttles to finish it. Her embellished cell phone case has a barn owl on the top flap hunting the mouse on the bottom. The back of it is graced with a windmill and an East Yorkshire rose.

Claire made a modified version of the floral bookmark by Kersti with her instructions for making it.

Diane is still working on Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel Glass Mat in Caribbean. Here's the whole Spinning Wheel finished. She's about half way through working on this round of her Jan Stawasz Masterpiece doily. This picture is a little further along. She's tatting rings and chains of this round in between working on invoices for her hubby.

Fox is using #80 Lizbeth for this Polish Oval Doily and so far it measures 7" x 4". The joining of these 12 motifs to the main work has her very nervous. Her blue doily is growing. Then there was some practise-tatting of a loop-tatted ring. She found a mistake 2 rows back so she has to stop and fix it before she tats any more.

Lilas was inspired by one of Mary Konior's designs and used it a a basis for the creation of this bracelet.

Marie finished the last round on her square doily. The coral bookmark was made using up thread on her shuttle. Since she had more thread to use up, she did a second one. The changeable doodle on the left were her first earrings made using up thread and the second variation is on the right. That put her back into designing mode and she has several new variations completed.

Muskaan has created a tutorial on making variations of curled rings. Using curled rings she has created some unique designs.

Stephanie was experimenting with beads and created an interesting fringe. Then she added long beaded picots to a tatted 'wheel' then realized that she should have put some beads on the shuttle to use in the center on the bare thread spaces. It took her a few days to get brave enough to try her first bauble, but the second one was much easier than the first. Then she tried using size 20 Lizbeth, size 11 beads, and a nylon thread that is about the equivalent of size 80 to make this fringe.

HisKid got back to her 2014 Renulek's Spring Doily, where she has just a little more to go before she can start the last round. Here's the penultimate round done.

Wanda has a lot of tatting in the works, but nothing at the photographic stage, so she post a picture of a doily she did some time ago.
