Doilies, Edgings, Motifs, Bracelet, Seahorse, and a Rose

My apologies for infrequent posts. I've been down with the flu for over a week now and just haven't the energy to keep up with the challenge more.

Anika dyed the thread so that she could tat this doily. Then she started another doily for a friend and is working on the fourth round of it. The edging for the hanky is coming slowly because the edging she chose to do is quite wide. She has plans to do the motifs in the corners in either light pink or the same green.

Magda shows us some of the notecards she prepared using skeletal leaves, satin ribbons, beads and tatting in delightful combinations, suitable for all occasions.

IsDihara is working through Mindy Al-Aaraji's Clover Motif and has completed Round 1. She's using Lizbeth 20 in Christmas Green #638, Mint Light #689 and Snow White #601. This long row of split rings is done in Lizbeth 40 Raspberry Frappé that is a foundation chain for a ring trim braid that will be 36 inches (91.4 cm) long.

Linda shows us a fabric postcard done in CQ and Tatting

Anne is about half way through the baby blanket she was working on, but now she has decided to add about 30 tatted motifs.

Cindy has begun another tatting project just as a break from all the preserves she has going on. Mmmm jams, jellies and canned fruit. Love the results, hate the work.

Diane has decided that it's better to call it free style and 3D tatting, not forgetting to switch shuttles or making the centre ring and picots too small. That's my kind of thinking. Briar Fragments in size 40 Lizbeth, Col. 126 from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior helped to set things right again. Or it did the second time around. After that success she went back to the Motif from The 3rd Tatting Book by Kirstine Nikolajsen and Inge Lise Nikolajsen done in Anika's HDT and with a little blocking, it even lays flat.

Fox loves the motif from The Tatters Treasure Chest but she has fallen out of love with the perle size 8 thread especially since this design needs a a nice crisp thread. She made several tries on this one and thinks there might be an error in the pattern and she's gaining enough confidence in her ability to tat what the photo shows and not necessarily what the instructions say.

Kelly has a lovely day at the waterfront visiting another tatter who let her select beads and thread and then proceeded to make this wave bracelet for her. She also gave her this lovely tatted seahorse, one of Deb Arnolds' patterns, made with metallic threads and beads. To top it all off, Fox traveled down to meet her and they had a very tatty and chatty day and Fox was able to give her some input on her clovers.

Martha is looking for some test tatters.

Orsi has plans to make some more tablecloths and the first will be white damask with tatted a edging that will be about six meters long.

Vanessa spent a day with the Queensland Tatters where Judith Connors helped them to tat this 3-D rose that was designed by Jeanne Lugert. Vanessa had done it before but it didn't sit right and some hands on instruction really helped get it perfect. This one went on a decoration on a gift box for a friend.

Bookmarks, Cross, Rose, Motifs, Snowflakes, Edgings, and Bracelet,

Tats is working on the Small Cross from Mary Konior's Tatting with Visual Patterns in Lizbeth size 20 Countryside. BSOTF has created a tatted napkin ring for special occasions.
Lily took a break from the challenge and she's back with Motif 11, single shuttle motifs done in size 20 Lizbeth Jewels that she is joining together for a larger project. She combined a butterfly body in green with an odd-shape butterfly/flower in yellow, added some crystal beads and a kite tail, and came up with a bookmark. Sue tatted the rose from the design challenge blog in Lizbeth Caribbean size 20 with tiny purple beads. She tatted a section of the Loop-di-Loop Doily as a Christmas tree to be used on an ornament. Sunshinecraft tatted a trio of snowflakes in DMC 80 Jon Yusof's 'Hearts in a Snowflake' The snow crystal from 'Tatter's Treasure Chest' and Kira's Star by Birgit Phelps.
Fox thinks her recent tatting must be jinxed with thread that split and broke, cut picots, wrong counts, and crossed threads, which is why it got cut to pieces. The blue motif by Yusai Shokoin, in A New Approach to Tatting, on the other hand, is working out perfectly. She has plans to tat four of them to make a larger project. Mica tatted 18th Day of December from Bjørn's book using 1 strand of metallic DMC floss and found it was a fun motif to make, since it was almost all split rings.
Shirl tatted these 2 edgings in DMC Cordonnet Special size 60. The first motif is done with DMC Cordonnet Special size 50 in Ecru and it measures 4 inches. The second motif is done in white HH Lizbeth thread size 20 and measure 3.5 inches. This collection of pieces made in Lizbeth size 20. were fun to make and they are basted with black thread to a piece of scrap book paper.

Wally tatted Jon's Foldover bookmark in Lizbeth #20 in Wildflowers and then she noticed that by adding an extra short piece to the other side, it made a nice bracelet.

Hearts, Critters, Necklaces, Edgings and Motifs

Magda usually shows finished pieces of lace but this one has only one more motif to go. It takes her about 30 minutes to make each motif and there are 70 of them in it, so it's 35 hours of work. It's about 40 cm long and 25 cm wide in shades of white and pale blue. The pattern is designed for beginners and needs only a shuttle, and a ball of thread.
Kat has taken a page from Fox's book and is adding edgings to socks but she's wondering whether the edging with yellow (Lizbeth Tropical Punch) in the first picture is too small for the sock and if the one in green (Lizbeth Springtime) a better size? And does the narrower edging look better on the shorter sock? As an added incentive for your input she's doing a giveaway for a tatted heart for folks who comment.
Catherine tatted Jon's Quantisque Snowflake in size 20 Lizbeth Carousel and 'Elegant Snowflake' from Vida Sunderman's book, Tatted Snowflakes in size 20 Lizbeth Vineyard Harvest.

Sue gave dimpled rings a try but the third one wouldn't close. She picked up the Fishermans' Net Doily from A New Twist on Tatting by Cathrine Austin which is being tatted in size 10 thread with a determination to complete the second round. The Loop-di-Loop Tatted Doily designed by Hartmut Haas will be for her mother-in-law for Christmas and it's being worked in size 20 Lizbeth Caribbean.

Agasunset tatted this bracelet in earth tone thread and green beads. Organic cotton and red natural coral were used in this necklace a derivative of a vintage doily pattern. Another black bracelet with ice cube beads and one in white with pearls and one in navy with pearls with a variation as a necklace And a second variation for another bracelet.
NancyD tatted this edging from Mary Konior's 'A Pattern Book of Tatting'. It took one shuttle full of Lizbeth size 20 for the 'butterfly' edging. For the scrunchie she used two Sew Mate shuttles full of Valdani size 8.
Ann participated in Victats giveaway and received this enchanting necklace in the mail.
IsDihara made Tatted Motif #2 from Free-Tatting Patterns.com in two colors, size 20 Lizbeth #104 (Summer Fun) and #642 (Lilac Medium). She has also started the Mary Konior pattern for a 3D Rose since the Chesapeake Lacers Guild is making 300 rose boutonnières to give to members at the I.O.L.I convention in 2011. Steph tatted another Martha Ess creation, an utterly charming elephant.

Wanda re-started her doily, this time in Lizbeth Springtime and black, both in size 20.

Bev decided that when she turned 75 she'd put a purple streak in her hair, only she miscounted and did it when she hit 74. She received a lovely gift from over the pond from the talented Jane Eborall. It's a wonderful hanky with a lovely tatted edging. Fox is tickled pink that she managed to finish the heart motif. She has added some bling to her new shuttle which, besides helping to identify which is which, makes them a little less slippery. The motif is a design by Karey Solomon. Fox also has an idea for a thread exchange. check out the projected plans. Heather has tatted Martha Ess' hat pattern - from her New Critters on the Block book and the butterfly from the same book.
Kelly was asked to frame a wedding invitation which she did bordering it with delicate tatting, ribbons and flowers as a gift for the bride and groom.

Laura tatted bookmark 9 and 10, in no 20 coats cotton for family friends.
