Lots of Snowflakes, a Hedgehog and Bookmarks

Diane created an adaptation of Doodad Snowflake #2, but not the variation she was planning on. Her granddaughters will still love it.

Margaret tatted Fancy Snowflake from the Easy Tatting book in Lizbeth size 20 but it's too open in the middle. The she tatted another snowflake from the Anna Magazine, also in Lizbeth size 20.

Marie  made Nancy Tracy's, Hedgehog with Lizbeth, size 20, black, Med Brown Fudge, and Mocha Brown. Her gift from Carol from the Needle Tatting Forum included, an adaptation of Mary Konior's small cross, a motif from her Masquerade pattern, a coaster from Jon, and a bookmark by Julie Patterson.

Earrings, Wreath, Snowflakes, Doily and Ornaments

Cigdem has used black faceted beads and Lizbeth size 10 in black cordonnet to create these three leaf clover earrings.

Nancy tatted Christmas Wreath with Berries, pattern by Betsy Evans in Lizbeth size 20 Christmas Green Mix with red seed beads for berries. Here it is ensconced under coffee beans nestled around a tea candle.

Diane tatted her Doodad Snowflake #2 with a slight modification to keep it hanging squarely. All of this tatting has prompted some interest at school and she'll be giving tatting lessons at lunch recess to those who are interested.

Fox has given the wreath another go. Here is tatted in Sulky and DMC Special and looking divine. She decided to give the doily another try, this time in size 80 pink and gray along with some beads her Mom gave her, but she thinks the picots are too big. The next one seems better.

Margaret tatted the Fifth Day of December snowflake from  the 24 Snowflakes book by Lene Bjorn in Lizbeth size 20 white.

Marie announces that Diane and Norma have won the pattern for her Christmas ball.

Wreath, Snowflakes, Doily, Necklace and Motifs

Barbara tatted a design by Samantha Melnychuk, in Lizbeth size 20 #376, but she noticed after she started the last row that there should be another bead at the base of the last ring and it was omitted in the pattern.

Diane has tatted another doodad snowflake replacing the Josephine knots with beads.

Fox has discovered a mistake in her doily which occurred on the 4th row. Of course she noticed it while tatting the 6th row and she hasn't enough thread to re-do it. Mistakes are the mother of new designs. Right?

Margaret tatted a snowflake from an old Anna Magazine in Lizbeth thread no 20.

Marie tatted this gold bauble necklace with Lizbeth, size 20, Mocha lt and Gold.

Mica tatted more patterns from Patti Duff's Minitats and found that hiding ends isn't as onerous when it's Christmas and they're seasonal designs.

Wanda usually does her Crowned Wheel in variegated thread but she did it in white for the first time. The small snowflakes are just her doodling around to make small snowflakes for the bags she's been decorating.

Snowflakes, Wreath, Necklace, Earrings and Teapot

Diane chose to replace the Josephine rings and the doodad from Doodad Snowflake #1 with pink beads for her snowflake challenge. Here's another version of Doodad Snowflake #1 again with pink beads that are sure to be a hit with her granddaughters.

Fox thinks she's got the technique for the tatted wreath down, but working in the fine size 80 thread has been a challenge.

Margaret tatted the Daisy Snowflake from Monica Hahn's book Christmas Angels and other tatting Patterns in Lizbeth no 20 white, as the third snowflake for her challenge.

Marie made this Turquoise Flower necklace and earring set in Lizbeth, size 20, Sea Foam and Turquoise.

Martha designed her "Anything Teapot" especially for the quilt blocks for the Palmetto fundraiser project. This pattern and her Pumpkin Teapot pattern are available on her blog.

Lots of Snowflakes and an Edging

The Guidelines
1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
6. Tatting 25 motifs in a year typically means tatting 2 motifs per month. Tatters who do not post any tatting content for 5 or 6 months will be removed from the list of participants.
---------------

Diane and Margaret are attempting a snowflake-a-day until Christmas. This is Diane's Doodad Snowflake #1 in size 20 Lizbeth, Snow White.

Note: For anyone looking for some simple snowflake patterns, I've begun posting some patterns on my blog. Enjoy!

Fox is having great success with the Sulky thread she got for making this edging. The colour is a perfect compliment to the hanky and the thread is a delight to work with.

Margaret's snowflake-a-day until Christmas begins with one of Diane's snowflake designs done in Lizbeth thread size 20 in white. Her second snowflake is from the 24 Snowflakes in Tatting book by Lene Bjorn, and is called The second day of December, which she tatted in Lizbeth size 20 Ice Blue.

Marie received an exchange package with a lovely Jan Stawasz design done in size 20 DMC White and Silver, and Lizbeth size 20 Latte Foam in the center, along with some wound shuttles. She immediately used the shuttles loaded with Lizbeth, size 80, White and Cotton Candy to tat Motif #1, a pattern from DCM Tatting for Today. This collection of snowflakes are the designs she sent to the Sandy Hooke Elementary School.

Necklace, Bell, Snowflakes, Edgings, Doilies, Bookmark, Earrings, Christmas Trees and Ornaments

Cigdem tatted this cross in Lizbeth black thread with 51 jet black faceted beads and a large square faceted crystal fro the centre.

mb duke tatted a 3D bell using a pattern by Renulek in Lizbeth white size 20. She did a snowflake also by Renulek.

Linda makes chili pepper needlebooks with a tatted edging, Ingeborg, from the book, Tatting Patterns and Designs by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson done in Lizbeth size 20, #19 Jelly Bean to give away. She added more rounds to Miranda Rensberger's  Angels in the Snow to make a small doily for an exchange.

Grace tatted the Clover Bookmark by Kelly Luljak in size 10 Lizbeth Christmas Green for her sister's birthday but she ran out of thread and squared off the end. The matching earrings are a simple clover design in size 80 Lizbeth Christmas Green. She tried them first in the size 10, but they were a bit BIG. She also made a pair of earrings based on the bookmark.

Carrie's friend from the Nimble Thimble group brought in this exquisite tatted hanky with rows of delicate one shuttle lace to show her.

Diane made Ruth Perry's Tatted Christmas Tree 2013 in 20 Lizbeth #601, Snow White with a doodad instead of beads for the trunk.

Fox is chugging along with the Danish doily although it's slow going. She's on round 6 and wondering what will happen when she blocks it.

Marie has her little Christmas tree up with it's tatted decorations, most of which are her own designs. She also has the pattern for her tatted Christmas ball completed and has posted information on how you can win a copy of the pattern on her blog.

Mica tatted this Beaded Snowflake from Vida Sunderman's Tatted Snowflakes in a pewter bronze thread colour, that doesn't show it's true beauty in the scan.

Mistene is making the Lucky Clover doily from Tatting Pattern's and Designs, by Blomqvist and Persson, using Cebelia No. 20, color 745, Banana Yellow.
