Necklaces, Earrings, Techniques, Motifs, Edgings, Doilies, and Octopus

Cigdem used Lizbeth in Fudge Dk and blue beads to create this necklace using a design she created called verbena. Of course what's a pendant without matching earrings.

Jane has been exploring encapsulating a bit more. It can be quite fiddly to keep branching bits out of the way, but encapsulation has a lot of potential.

Lelia tatted Flower Fragments from Mary Konior's Tatting with Visual Patterns in Lizbeth Ocean Turquoise Dk-657.

Julie has another vintage find; a dresser scarf with motif insets and border edging.

Diane took a couple of tries for this one but now that it's done Jon Yusoff's Galuh from Elegant Tatting Treasures is one she really likes.

Fox is just over half way through the first row of the Trellis Doily, but she's not enjoying it. Maybe it's the twisting.

IsDihara started the octopus from New Critters on the Block by Martha Ess, but a slight distraction resulted in 9 legs and Nonny the Nonapus, done in Lizbeth size 20 Magenta Dk 618, was born. His cousin the octopus is still in progress in pink. This also finished Isdihara's second batch of 25 motifs.

Marie tatted around a pair of light green cats-eyes cabochons to make these earrings. Pink, muscle shell cabochon was tatted around using two strands of metallic copper, Gutermann thread for this pair of earrings.

Mica tatted Minitats 55 - 59 in DMC Special Dentelles No. 80 in ecru. The first one is her favorite, the last is supposed to be a candy cane and the picot size didn't work so she's calling it a snake.

Sue was asked to share how she attaches her tatting inside a bangle bracelet, so she has produced a step by step tutorial to show how it's done.

Kite, Flowers, Doilies, Edging, Motifs, Earrings and Pegasus

Jane has mastered square rings which is a novel technique that doesn't have many uses, like maybe for a kite, but it's still worth having in your repertoire. She used encapsulation  to tat a 'bezel' for this glass bead owl  made by her sister-in-law. She wanted it to look like the owl was sitting in a flowery tree.

Ginny has a doily idea using findings. This is the centre motif and one from round 2. Joining it all together will be the challenge.

Jessica has another veil completed and the pattern done for it and posted.

Ancolie has a whole bouquet of flowers tatted is assorted colours for her latest "motif".

Diane was happily tatting Galuh from Elegant Tatting Gems by Jon Yusoff, when she realized that she had too many rings in the centre. She had missed a join and created an extra ring which was easiest to fix by starting over.

Fox is making some progress on the Trellis Doily although it seems it has required numerous tries. Berry Burst HDT by Tatskool that she received from Suneeti was an irresistible thread to try out a Karey Solomon pattern with both split rings and split chains. After which she tatted a small motif from Frivole’s Viola pattern, and then a vintage-looking bit. Fox has posted her Pine Plains Picot pattern in her Etsy shop. These are the test samples done by Kelly, Amanda, Phyllis and Mary.

Marie tatted this little motif from The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito in size 80 thread trying out this little shuttle from Two Shuttles. Marie tatted around these blue cats-eyes with two strands of Sulky, metallic silver sewing thread to make these earrings.

Martha tatted Karey's 1919 Square Medallion from the May issue of Tatting Times just to have something relaxing to tat. Progress on the upcoming fantasy book continues and she hopes to bring a box full for her consignment table at Palmetto Tat Days.

Sue tatted Pinkie Earrings from Tattingbox in size 40 Lizbeth Peacock Blues improvising replacements for the tear-drop beads and omitting the seed beads. She did a test tat of the Lantana pendant in size 40 Lizbeth Elderberry Jam.

Bookmarks, Doilies, Flowers, Dragonflies, Earrings, Wheel Barrow, Edging, Motifs, Heart and Bracelet

mb duke has finished the bookmark by Jane McLellan, in  Rainbow-licious HDT thread by Tatilicious. She has also finished Doily X by Jan Stawasz, using Aunt Lydia ecru and Lizbeth Garnet  threads, both size 20 and finds that tatting marathons are giving her aches and pains. She decided to try out the Perfect Quilter thread by tatting Mary Konior's Flower Fragments and she simply loves the thread even though it's quite a bit finer that the size 20 Lizbeth she's been using.

Sharon has round 3 of the Clover doily done and she's hoping it will keep her interest for another 6 rounds. Round 4 is completed and she is enjoying tatting it as each repeat is easily memorized, although each round does get larger.

Jane's latest technique tryout is a square ring and she managed to create an earring, but thinks she needs more practice before she can make something useful with the technique. She has also written out her pattern instructions for the dragonfly and it's available from her blog.

Linda is following Nancy Tracy who has begun part 1 of an oblong doily and Linda is looking forward to part 2. One of her favorite motifs on a crazy quilt is Jane Eborall's wheel barrow. This one is done and ready to be filled with silk flowers.

Cindy has done a bit of practice and thinks she's ready to try the Victorian Trellis Doily, which is an unnamed doily from the Priscilla Tatting Book which has lots of Victorian sets and SCMRs.

Diane received a sample of size 80 DMC thread along with a shuttle from Imoshen to try out. She's using it to tat Mary Konior's Leaf Braid from Tatting with Visual Patterns. She's been enjoying tatting snowflakes from Jon Yusoff's Elegant Tatting Gems and loves the way Cintamani flows.

Fox tatted this pattern from Lindsay Rogers’s Mastering Tatting using silk thread she received from Suneeti. She received an awesome gift from Sally; a charming box to hold a Silver Maple shuttle and a wonderful bookmark. The little flat shuttle she's saving for the "Boss".

Margaret tatted Sandra's Dainty Heart in white  Lizbeth thread No 20 to add to this anniversary card. She and her husband are celebrating their 11th anniversary. The Tigereye earrings pattern by Elizabeth Zipay is a current tat along on intatters. These were tatted with Lizbeth thread no 20 in white, and the beads were gold and multicolor black seed beads.

Marie tatted the Shuttlebirds 4th weekly challenge, the "5 Point Celtic Motif", designed by Sue Hanson. She worked it in Lizbeth, size 20 Leaf Green Lt, Azalea, and Springtime.

Michelle has been making progress on the runner using Frivole's beautiful Quatrain pattern. This has been a long term project and she's about half way through, but with practice, her tatting has improved and the earlier motifs show the contrast.

Sue used Lizbeth size 20 Caribbean and Lilac Dk to tat this SSSR bracelet for a friend.
