Heart, Motifs and Doily

StephanieGrace took another run at the heart using Twilight HDT and black and made the same mistake on this second one, then when she tried to carefully undo it, the thread broke.
Marta tatted these motifs that remind her of poppyseed cookies.

Wendy tatted Jon's Merryment doily as a Christmas Tree decoration in Tatskool's Rainbow Bright HDT size 60.

Motifs and Edgings

Kkommy used the time on the train ride to tat Masquerade by Mary Konior from Tatting with Visual Patterns.
StephanieGrace had plans to tat another heart using Twilight HDT paired with black, but made a slight mistake. She quit and used the rest of the thread to tat a different motif.
Wanda managed to finish up all of her Christmas tatting and received a gift from her swap partner of Yarnplayer's Layered Ring Christmas Tree pattern and a beaded Christmas tree ornament.

Fox tatted this motif from The Tatted Artistry if Teiko Fujisto using some thread from the Lace-lovin' Librarian that was included in a package along with a tatted motif and other goodies. She tried one of my snowflakes in size 40 Mercer thread but had difficulty getting the tension right on the Josephine knots. So she tatted Corn and Chaff from Mary Konior's Tatting in Lace in the remaining thread and then re- did it in size 20 Cebelia.

Bookmarks, Pendants, Hearts, Motifs, Doily, Butterfly, Flowers, Snowflakes and Angel

Hattalahutta made this little bookmark using one of the flower fragments from Mary Konior's A Pattern Book of Tatting for one of her boyfriend's sisters in Lizbeth 20 in Dark Boysenberry and Medium Leaf Green. The tassel is the variegated Leafy Greens. She also made the "Grand Aura" pendant from Yarnplayer's book in black Lizbeth 40 with red beads.
Stephaniegrace has been tatting Brigit Phelps L'il Heart, wreaths and flowers from the book "Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns" by Monica Hahn. She's so hooked on the hearts that she has done one in DMC Cebelia, Size 30, in Victorian Rose (223) and Ivory (712) with "Rose Glow" beads (size 11/0) and to add the beads, she changed the first chain to B3p4B3 and the last to 3B4j(through bead)3B and all other chains she changed to 3B4B3. The one with the green border was done with two HDTs from trappedinabead.com and the pink-bordered heart was done with Lizbeth, size 20, in Denim Whisper and Dust Rose Lt.

Kjellaug used size 30 thread on this trial of Debbie Arnold's doily and she got further on this attempt at the pattern.
Corina tatted a 3D butterfly designed by Sharren Morgan in Lizbeth 670 and 136. She also did Georgia's Heart Doily and then went on to do a flower from Ruth Perry's Celtic Tatting which her husband called a Christmas Rose and can be seen in sections and assembled.

Nancy tatted Mary Konior's baby bootie pattern, but omitted the second round so that they'd fit the preemie baby they're intended for.
Sunshinecraft worked on this elegant design from Elisadusud called Rose du Noel, done in DMC perle 8 and the clunies were really coming along nicely until she tried to tat in public, and then it all seemed to develop a mind of it's own. In this trio of snowflakes from Jon Yusoff's snowflake book, the first is Oasis in Anchor perle 8, the second is Floret in the DMC perle 8 and the last is Astral done with 3 strands of metallic embroidery thread, 2 blue one silver.

Fox tatted Myra Piper's design again with fewer beads in size 20 Olympus and the effect was much nicer. More isn't always better. She has also checked off making celtic knots a la Ruth Perry from her to do list this year. Then she designed a new little doodle, which was easy and fun, but then she has to write it out, which isn't. Her first design was tatted by Beelizabeth, who worked it from the photo not the pattern.

Sue has a lot of tatting to show as she wraps up her challenge. There's Ellen Lai's Angel Paper Clip done in size 3 sparkle thread, and Snowflake on a Paper Clip done in the same thread and my Heart Bookmark turned ornament for a small tree, followed by a cross designed by Mark Myers tatted in Lizbeth Royal Blue size 40 mounted in a snow globe. Best of all, everyone that she did tatting for loved their gifts.

Angels, Snowflakes, Motifs, Heart, Crosses, Ornaments, Edging, Bookmarks,Teapot

Claudia just started her second challenge round, and here she is finished again with 2 of Ellen Lai's lovely paperclip angels tatted in DMC perle size 8 and 2 little snowflakes, in variegated DMC perle cotton size 8.

Marta has proved that you can tat around the neck in 80 days. So this collar which was begun in October is finished before Christmas.

Orsi saw this design being done on some of the other challenge blogs and she had to try it for herself. It looks lovely mounted on a hand made paper postcard.

Kat used the letters, apple and bunny to decorate a child's fabric book. Laura Bobay's wreath was tatted in Lizbeth 20 leaf green medium and clears beads and given to neighbours and Birgit Phelps' heart tatted in size 20 Christmas delight will go into next year's cards. The Easy Tatted Cross posted at In-Tatters by xstchntat was done in Autumn Spice, Leafy Green, Spring Garden, Caribbean and Tropical Punch. the necklace pendants are tatted in size 20 in Lizbeth Vineyard Harvest and black and size 40 Lizbeth Turquoise Twist.

Corina cleaned up her craft room and found a motif that she doesn't even remember tatting let along what thread was used, but now that it's found it can go on the Christmas tree along with Birgit Phelps Celtic heart tatted in white Altin Basak 50 with a gold filament and an unknown white thread. For Christmas there is a wee angel with tatted wings.

Sharon had such fun tatting the ornament from a pattern and kit by Debbie Arnold that she ordered several more kits.
Sunshinecraft saw Mary's modified version of Jon's Melati pattern turned into earrings and that inspired her to use 3 of the design done in DMC 80 tatting cotton on a 1.5 cm ring and mount them on a ribbon to make a choker. Now that she has them done she's having trouble deciding whether to mount them on green or on black.

Bonnie tatted Miranda's Angels in the Snow for a tatting exchange. She has been tatting lots and lots of little stars.... And they're going on cleverly made Christmas cards.

BSOTF shows us a unique and practical way to show off your tatting, but inserting it inside the thermos glass. It has the added benefit of distinguishing your glass from everyone else's.

Cindy has Christmas snowflakes to show.

Diane received a surprise tatted gingerbread house from Carol. She also received Jane's wonderful magnetic butterfly bookmark. She's working on an edging from The Craft of Tatting by Bessie M. Attenborough that will go on a wonderful linen hanky she won on ebay. The bookmark was one she started when someone on InTatters was having trouble understanding the pattern and she wanted to see if she could do it. It's being tatted in what she thinks is size 40 Lizbeth, color #116, but she's not sure because she lost the tag.

Fox tatted a small Myra Piper design using lots of bead and size 80 thread. The colours are lovely, although they do seem to overpower this wee motif. The charming beaded tree is one of Sue Fuller's designs just like the familiar Hearts Desire and the good news is that there are plans for a reprint of her book. The Celtic cross is Ruth Perry's design tatted in Olympus size 20.

Kathy shows the interior of her Victorian doll house with all of it's tatted accessories.
Lily has mounted Jeff's Sine Wave star on a jewellery finding and added a flower-shaped crystal bead to hold it in place.
Martha admits that this didn't start out as a Christmas pattern, but the colours worked together so well to create a wonderful Christmas teapot and the pattern will be in a future Tatting Times.

Sue started this snowflake, but wasn't quite sure how to make it until she learned how to work with ring only tatting. This one is made in size 10 thread and is about 6 inches across and looks lovely on these fancy hangers.
