Pendants, Doilies, Edgings, Motifs, Snowflakes, Dragons, Earrings and Bracelet

Elsa is tatting, but it's a surprise.

Claire tatted this celtic motif from Rosemary Peel's Tatting For Pleasure in very dramatic black and red DMC pearl cotton size 8 colours 310 and 498. She loves the look of the design which is just as charming from the front as the back. She made a pendant of the design using Lizbeth size 20, in Ocean Sunset # 155 and black # 604.

Diane has tatted around two of the ten sections on the last round of my Jan Stawasz Masterpiece doily. Diane loves using thread markers as it helps her keep track of the pattern and help her see achievable goals, while adding a spot of colour to her plain white doily.

Fox finished the Jan Stawasz doily and in Lizbeth size 80 it measures 8 inches across. Fox is making an early New Year's resolution to only tat patterns she likes with threads she likes and consequently the Hedgehogs pattern is gone. In it's place is Lea's lovely #70 thread using an unidentified Russian pattern from who-knows-where. She's now tatting herself happy loving the thread, the colour, the pattern and how it goes with the hanky. The teeny, tiny, one inch pretties from Ninetta are being left out to remind her of the perfection that can be attained.

Margaret has trouble tatting with really fine thread, so she had to wait for days with bright sunlight to tat the butterflies, which are done in PQ (Perfect Quilter) #063 that Fox sent her. The white part is done in Lizbeth white size 20.

Marie made these Ocean dragons using a strand each of green and blue rayon sewing thread. Her tree has only a few tatted decorations but she plans to tat more for next year. Amethyst is a pendant she made from a broken necklace.

Muskaan has enjoyed tatting snowflakes, but especially those with flowers inside. Maranta's Star was tatted in Anchor #40 White & Aqua Blue 4054-0185 and measures 3½” tip to tip. Robin’s Winter Frost Snowflake is done in AMC #50 White & #40 Variegated Maroon 4054-1206
and measures 3¼”. Nancy Tracy’s Tatted Ice snowflake is made with Anchor #40 White & Lavender 4054-098 and measures approximately 3½” tip to tip. Robin’s Design Tut Snowflake is worked in Anchor #40 White & Lavender 4054-098 measuring 3¼” tip to tip. The unnamed Coats snowflake is tatted in Anchor #20 Blue 0131 & White.

Sue tatted this design from Elaine P. Gan in size 20 Lizbeth Christmas Delight with tiny red glass beads to make a Christmas bracelet. She used a toggle and ring to finish it off because it looked like a wreath.

Wanda has plans for another table runner but the appearance of the finished lace isn't always like the thread wound on the ball so she thought she'd make some colour samples first like this one done in  Lizbeth thread size 10 in #606 Charcoal & #602 Natural. It doesn't go as well with the fabric as she had imagined. Neither did these samples she worked up, but better to scrap a few short samples than a whole length of edging.

Batty Tatter made these by special request for a friend who likes to give her daughter purple ornaments in groups of three.

Elsa made # 16 from the Therese of Dillmont book published in 1924 in the DMC Library with the original model on the left in the photograph. She wanted to change it slightly expanding the rings directed towards the centre of the pattern.

Mary Lena started with Corina Meyfeldt's design and based this set of necklace, bracelet and earrings on the design. It's worked with black polyester thread, seed beads and glass beads silvery white.

Julie used Lizbeth 20 to make Joëlle Paulson's Snowdrop, her first snowflake of the season. She has enjoyed Jane's Tat It And See making her 2015 scissors, and the 2014 model of a sailboat, so she's looking forward to the new one anticipated in January.

Sue finished her teeny tiny snowflake earrings using Jane Eborall's pattern.

Cindy tatted Jon Yusoff's Minaret snowflake and stitched it to a star on some beautiful red wool, but found that centering a six pointed snowflake on a five pointed star was a bit of a challenge.

Diane was thrilled to finish round 17 of the Jan Stawasz doily... until she noticed that she had added an extra ring on two different repeats. Time for some patching. All fixed and ready for the next row and it's already 32 inches across in size 20 thread.

Fox hasn't felt much like tatting recently, but she did get some work done on her doily.

Marie tatted around an old pin in pearl cotton 12 to convert it into this ruby pendant. Some lapis beads and silver thread combined to make these lovely earrings for one of her customers. This pair of dragons were tatted with 2 strands of rayon sewing thread using a pattern by Michelle Bottosff. Another pair of Icy dragons using the same pattern.

Muskaan saw Corina Meyfeldt's idea for fringe and had to give it a try playing around with the technique. That lead to her wreath pattern with thorns. She played around with twisted picots and shows how to make a floating twisted picot (great for butterfly antennae). She shows how the technique looks when applied to a snowflake, and when used in free form tatting. She also shows the effect when other elements are added with the twisted picot.

HisKid tatted Jane's bookmark and made it into a bracelet. Another row has been completed on her doily.

Wanda added her Kamryn Edging in Lizbeth Fudge Med # 698 & Harvest Orange Med #694 to some lovely fall fabric to make a lovely runner. This is her Christmas tree this year which is about 24 inches tall and is decorated entirely with tatted ornaments. There are more than 30 on the front and sides and thankfully they were quick and easy to do. Her original plan was to make the button ornaments with just red and green buttons, but using other colours made for a more festive tree.
