Snowflakes, Earrings, Necklaces, Butterflies, Doilies, Bracelet, Pendant, Lanyard, Crosses, Motifs and Bag, Lanyard

Elsa has decided to join the challenge with her second snowflake from the book by Bjørn Lene, 24 Snowflakes in Tatting, using Tenax polyester thread No. 30

Dorota tatted small filigree earrings in black thread with black beads in 2 versions. The same design was made again in white, perfect for a wedding.

Mary Lena created a lovely necklace using a simple ring and chain repeat in white with seed beads and glass beads in the centre. The second version done in dark grey thread with red beads makes a very dramatic statement.

Lelia emptied more shuttles making butterflies to send off to the Tatting Corner.

Linda made this in a Kathy Shawkl class of paintings, dyes and inks and incorporated a delicate tatted edging on the parasol.

Claire took a break from Renulek's Wiosna 2014, but now she has the second row completed.

Diane has been using a variety of shuttles working on this large Jan Stawasz doily and she's finding she really likes her La Cossette shuttles. Here's this round at the half way point. She got side tracked working on this Heart Doily from Land of Laces. Just another couple of repeats for this round of the Stawasz doily. Another round completed on the Heart Doily. One more repeat done on the Stawasz doily.

Fox has the round of little motifs finished and the next started. Dyslexia strikes again and the Heart Doily from Land of Laces has her stumped. She started this Karey Solomon design and for some reason it fizzled, so she ended up adding some beads and attaching it to a t-shirt. This time she tried it again with better success. Meanwhile the Jan Stawasz doily has only 2 more rounds to go. She has the Heart Doily figured out and is starting it in #89 Lizbeth. The Stawasz doily is at the penultimate row.

Lilas is still working on her creation which isn't a doily and isn't a placemat. The variation of the Therese de Dillmont pattern was redone in Tenax thread with hematite beads added to make this bracelet.

Marie tweaked the design for this Garden Collection pendant. This chain forms a negative space heart when weight is added to the bottom. An old earring was used as a base for this pendant. She traded this earring and pendant set for some size 12 pearl cotton at a quilt show.

Muskaan chose to make bicolour motifs for the next round of the doily using cream and yellow for the snowflakes, yellow and brown for the smaller motifs and brown for the cloverleaves. She had been hoping to cut down of the ends to hide by making the snowflakes in one colour, but the bicolour arrangement what much more attractive. So she made a lot of snowflake centres then added the outer round that joins onto the main doily. Individual cloverleaves were joined to the main doily and the small motifs join to the main doily and snowflakes. She has included instructions to the tips and tricks she used on the doily on her blog.

Sue has been experimenting with interlocking rings to make a lanyand for her husband, but she hasn't come up with the perfect arrangement just yet.

Wanda created this cross for her sister-in-law who recently lost her son. This traditional cross pattern she made for her new pastor. Both were made in Lizbeth size 20 thread, which she thinks is #652 Royal Blue. Wanda snapped up Fox's books on Armenian lace and received them along with a tatted motif and one in Armenian lace. Since someone asked how big her tatted bag was, her it is shown with a ball of Omega thread and a shuttle for perspective.

Angels, Butterflies, Lamb, Doilies, Earrings, Motifs, Fair Entries, Edging, Lanyard and Bag

The Guidelines
1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing me to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. The blogs are ALL checked whenever there is an update using the links list in the sidebar on the right, there is no need to advise me that you have added new content. If your new items haven't shown up, it's because I haven't had time to do an update yet.
3. I can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. I don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell me when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. From past experience I know the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let me know so that I continue to check your blog on a regular basis. Also let me know if once was enough so that I can move your blog to the list of past participants.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
6. Tatting 25 motifs in a year typically means tatting 2 motifs per month. Tatters who do not post any tatting content for 5 or 6 months will be removed from the list of participants.
---------------

Gwen made 2 of Marie's Angels using a variation in the long chain forming the skirt called a HDD (half double double stitch)The Angel on the right, was found while flipping through Pinterest.

Lelia tatted these butterflies in response to a request for small butterflies to hand out at Annie's Craft Festival. This is a re-tat of the Leaping Lambies pattern by Karey Solomon.

Linda used the Maple Leaf pattern by Tammy Rodgers worked in Lizbeth 40 joining 8 maple leaves together and attaching them to a small white doily with one more in the centre to make a Maple Leaf Doily.

Claire tatted these earring from a pattern by Sumi Fujishige found in Exquisite Tatting in DMC size 8 colour 498.

Diane started round 14 of the large Jan Stawasz pattern. Here's the round after 2 repeats. More repeats done. And more. repeat after repeat gets boring at this size, but the reward is round 14 finished. Which brings us to round 15 started.

Fox tried out several colour combinations, but they just didn't look right so she settled on white. Why am I craving cafe au lait? she's been adding motifs to it. Then she took a break to tat a motif by Karey Solomon in very fine thread sent to her by Ninetta which made an itsy bitsy piece of lace. Included in the package with the thread were a couple of lovely tatted motifs. The Jan Stawasz doily needs a lot of boring little motifs added to it so it's lagging a bit. Ben Fikkert's Corona Doily tatted in size 80 Lizbeth measured 22 inches across and won first prize at the fair.

Kristen has her fair entries back and shares with us the judges comments on her lace which are beneficial for anyone wanting to improve their chances for a winning entry.

Lilas is working on a design, but all she'll say about it is that it's not a doily.

Marie's Mom machine embroidered a design on a towel, and Marie added a matching tatted edging.

Martha finished off some class projects from Palmetto's, beginning with Karey's Pendant Necklace which she turned into a lanyard. She tried out Karey's Leaping Lambie in class but early morning non-functioning brain cells didn't do it justice and she re-did it later. Another pattern she made after getting home was Erin's Flowery Crinoline Angel, to which she added a halo.

Wanda was participating in a round robin and used one of her trial rounds as a base for a tatted bag. The first few rounds went according to plan, but the split ring round was a bit too big, so she needs to adjust the stitch count there and she thinks the bare thread sections at the top are a little too long.
