Motifs, Bracelets, Snowflakes, Bird, Lady, Doilies, Butterflies and Bookmark

Jane decided to make some of the designs from an article about tatting in Ideas magazine and display them together at her market table. She was asked to make the bracelet design in purple and pink and with a little tweaking of shorter chains and an alternate clasp position, she has a better all around design.

Margaret tatted the Daisy Snowflake from the book Christmas Angels and other tatting Patterns from Monica Hahn Tatted in Lizbeth size 20. Her 4th countdown snowflake is from Anna Magazine December 1992 pattern number 37
Tatted in Lizbeth size 20. Another snowflake from Anna, this one is December 1983 pattern number 46 also in Lizbeth and one from December 1991 pattern no 39, again in Lizbeth.

Lelia used Lizbeth size 20 Col. 171 for her 25th motif on a pattern from Minitats; 69 Petite Motifs by Patti Duff. Now she's ready for another 25 next year. Handy Hands send a Lizbeth size 3 thread sample with their newsletter and she tatted a butterfly doodle with it. She had already been given a sample of the thread to try and she noticed that the little butterfly seemed to take a lot of thread.

Ginny is also on a snowflake binge. Criss-Cross Snowflake by Joƫlle Paulson is a nice pattern and Elmo's Snowflake by Heather Johnson is easy and quick to make. The snowflake with red beads should be Wheel of Fortune snowflake by Terri D, but it wasn't quite made to pattern. Small Star by Birgit Phelps and swirly arms. Edda Schneider designed this last one. She has decided that snowflakes go much better with little kittens than glass ornaments.

Jessica has really enjoyed rewriting some of the patterns from the old Priscilla book, but this one has just been a nice relaxing tat.

Nancy was visiting her friend the other day and just had to share her tree which is covered with over 200 tatted ornaments.

Linda shows us the Christmas post card for special people which includes Nancy Tracy's "Tweety Bird" and Martha Ess's tatted lady.

Ancolie has finished her 20th motif for this round of the challenge. It's a small design by Mary Konior.

Diane had an idea for a snowflake based on a snow crystal and the result, with the central finding of course, is an interesting triangular shape. She received two new Pop-A-Bobbin shuttles, and one of Jane's wonderful button brooches in blue that she plans to wear to school on Monday. She finished her snowflake for the day, Kira's Star by Birgit Phelps, beaded this time. She re-did her triangular ice crystal in Sherry's Country Christmas HDT and she has included the pattern on her blog since Jane requested it.

Fox bought Guterman’s Sulky 30 and she finds it really fine but she loves the look of it. Birgit Phelp's Kira's Star is done on Carons Wildflower, her new favourite thread. Renulek’s Honey Napkin is now on Row 10. Large doilies take a long time, especially as each new row gets larger than the one before. Martha sent her some motifs tatted from Angelow Crichlow designs. Val sent her some balls of Omega to try along with a darling tatted motif. Honey Napkin slowly but surely proceeds to the finish. She took a break to tat around a button, but she didn't really enjoy it.

Isdihara has Norma Benporath's Lace Mat finished. She used Lizbeth 40 Pineapple Parfait #170 for rounds 1&2, Lizbeth 40 Honey Drizzle #180 for round 3 and Lizbeth®40 Honey Drizzle #180 & Lizbeth 40 Gold #611 for round 4 for a beautiful but subtle colour change.

Jess received her PIF gift from JB and it included lots of different goodies including crocheted, tatted and beaded items and a wooden ornament.

Marie found a lovely cameo pendant at an estate sale and added a wonderful tatted border to it.

Suncatcher, Butterflies, Necklaces, Earrings, Ornaments, Snowflakes, Doily and Pendants

Cheryl has tried Tie-Dyed threads and the first batch is called Easter Parade which she used to make this sun catcher. Then there is the project she started and gave up on, but her grandson, Dylan sees possibilities.
Jane made another food cover which has the larger butterfly designed by Jennifer Williams and worked in Jess's Tat-ilicious thread with Milford purple and the smaller ones are Jane Eborall's very small butterfly. The necklace she was working on should have been straight forward but the beads that all looked the same, turned out to have some smooth and some faceted, which would have been OK, but right near the end one of the beads broke and had to be replaced by a substitute that doesn't match. O darn, now she has to keep it! Of course the good thing about scrambling to find a replacement bead, is that she found several pairs of earrings she had done previously that can all go to market. These Christmas decorations have been stiffened with glue and now she just has to wait for them to dry to see how they turned out.
Margaret is joining the challenge to tat a snowflake a day until Christmas and her first one is Flocon d'Or by Joelle Paulson. Her second snowflake is Wheel of Nine Rings from Christmas Angels and other Tatting Patterns by Monica Hahn.
Nancy finds tatting for Christmas extra special and these are wreaths with and without beads that she has done for past Christmases.
Linda tatted quick and easy snowflakes for all my Christmas gifts using Lizbeth 20 with Sulky metallic threads to add sparkle.
Diane's granddaughter Lily choose the thread for this snowflake, DMC Light Effects Classical Blends, Midnight Madness #E133 and the pattern is the first round of Birgit Phelp's Kira's Star. The next one is one of her doodad snowflakes done in Boysenberry Dk. Today's snowflake is the first round of Birgit Phelp's Kira's Star again in Boysenberry Dk.
Fox ran away from it all, which explains her blogging absence, but while away she did get another round finished on the Honey Napkin.
Jess tatted Frivole's Papillon in her newly dyed Rainbow-licious size 20 HDT. She loves Frivole's little butterfly pattern and she had to tat it with beads. Left to right, Size 40 Summer Bliss, using a balanced double stitch, and size 20 Fancy fields.
Kathy shows 3D ornaments that are all the same pattern, but placing the hanger in a different spot changes the appearance.
Marie tatted around a porcelain rose pendent in Lizbeth size 20 threads. A pair of her earrings were too heavy to wear so she cut off the post tatted around it in Lizbeth size 20 thread. She decided to make this pair into earrings.
Orsi shows us a necklace again paired with matching earrings. Delicate and charming.
Wanda forgot the little Christmas tree that was to be used for displaying her tatting on consignment at the yarn store and had to return home to retrieve it, but on the way back out the door, the door knob came off in her hand and then on the way down the highway at 75 mph she was assaulted by a large tumbleweed. Which just goes to prove that some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed! While at the yarn store she picked up some rayon thread that's about a size 12 and tried it out. It's very different from cotton.

Snowflakes, Bookmarks, Heart, Motifs, Christmas tree and Bracelet

The Guidelines
1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
---------------

Laurie tatted Kira's Star in size 20 Lizbeth thread in white and she has done so well since taking a tatting course that finished in October, she has been asked to take over as tatting teacher in January. Congratulations!
Cheryl received a card with a tatted cross from her friend the Tollway Tatters.
Jane decided to use the last of her white polycotton to make baby pillowcases and after careful measuring figured that she could make 9, or is that 4.5 since they're double sided? She has added a tatted edging and the Li'l Heart by Birgit Phelps.
Lelia continues with the escapades of the Tollway Tatters. Sue Anna tatted this motif with the new Aerlit tatting shuttle using the recent released size 3 by LizBeth and the next one with Scottish Thistle colour. Lelia tatted motif #24 from Minitats by Patti Duff in Ice Blue Lizbeth size 20 and since she had forgotten her pattern folder at home, Denise let her borrow Minitats and she used it to tat this little tree.
Prabhjyotsaini is hosting a giveaway for the person who can suggest a catchy name for her online shop. The prize is this lovely bracelet tatted in red with glass beads.
Marta created a bookmark named Thymus, using up thread on her shuttles and Ozimina is another bookmark, which also uses up left over thread. Don't you wish your left overs looked this good?
Diane is wondering if she can do a snowflake a day for December and sticking with size 20 Lizbeth, Wedgewood DK #656 she has this one done. She found an image on Facebook, followed it to an embroidery page and decided to try to tat it from the picture. It turns out it's Kira's Star by Birgit Phelps, her version of which is done here with a finding in size 20 Lizbeth, Grape Splash #165.
