Doilies, Edging, Bracelet, Snowflakes, Cow, Pig, Rooster, Leaves, Lanyard, Heart and Bookmark

Manisha has finished her first ever doily which took her a long time to complete, since she ran out of thread and tinkered with the last row.

Muskaan used size 20 Anchor Mercer Black thread for tatting this edging she calls Dancing clovers, which was used to decorate the collar of a caftan.

Lilas used the same pattern as one done previously in a very dramatic black making a very Goth and very sexy bracelet.

Fox hit yet another snag on the Monster Doily, finding a mistake on row 15 that she didn't notice until she hit row 18 and it required some surgery to fix. She noticed that the 9-picot reverse rings in the final row didn't lay flat so she tatted 2 ds at the beginning and at the end she posted the shuttle, which solved the problem.

Kristen is working through 24 Snowflakes in Tatting by Lene Bjørn trying to do a book review and this is the 2nd of December. The 4th of December, in process, is another snowflake from the book which is soon to be packed away as she moves from Russia to Austraia. The 4th is finished, as well as the 3rd of December, which is a lovely fluffy snowflake.

Marie tatted a cow to go with her calf from Tatting Farm Animals by Christel Weidmann, done with Lizbeth, size 20, Rootbeer Float. She received the finishing kit to make her tatted resin bezel into a pendant. her Christmas tree with it's tatted decorations has been put up. She tatted the Rooster from Tatted Farm Animals in Lizbeth, size 20, Falling Leaves. To round out her barn animals is a pink pig. Some tatted leaves done in Falling Leaves to finish off thread on the shuttles.

Phyllis keeps Smiley faces from a pattern by Jane Eborall done in DMC floss to give away to brighten someone's day, for kids at events she attends or anyone who might be interested in tatting. The doily is from Tatted Treasures by Jan Stawasz - Doily VI, rounds 1 through 4 made in Lizbeth Root Beer Float size 20 as a present for her brother who is newly engaged. Patty Duff's lanyard is being worked in Lizbeth size 20 Rainbow Splash and she'll used the short one as a key ring. She finished off the lanyard and a split ring pen insert. She's halfway done with Marilee Rockley's Unfolding Heart pattern using silver seed beads to add a little bling.

 
Wanda has been tatting a plethora of snowflakes for family and friends. Every year she tries to make one snowflake that will go in the Christmas cards like this one. Then variations are made, like the next one shown. She was asked to make bookmarks in school colours and she started with orange and black for OSU using her own, Bookmark in Fall Colors pattern.

The Guidelines

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
6. Tatting 25 motifs in a year typically means tatting 2 motifs per month. Tatters who do not post any tatting content for 5 or 6 months will be removed from the list of participants.

Batty Tatter's first try at this bell from a Workbasket pattern was done in a white thread that's readily available and she discovered that her side picots need to be longer. Now she has a request for 3 more in purple.

Muskaan has resumed her deconstruction of the magic square to show some of the many patterns with in patterns, this time looking at edgings and a cross. Her next project is showing variations on interlocking split ring braids.

Lilas received her tiny Preciosa beads and immediately set about searching for the perfect pattern. The results are these lovely earrings with a Swarovski crystal drop. She created 2 lovely floral necklace designs worked in white. The simple bracelet done in lavender and white uses a  traditional, yet elegant design.

Sue tatted a fun to do snowflake design by Robin Perfetti. Then she did Jon Yusoff's square again, but this time she added beads.

mb duke tatted this square pendant for a friend who does square dancing and was inundated with requests for more. It was a relief to tat snowflakes like this one by Renulek and this one she did in red by Jon Yusoff from Elegant Tatting Gems. This Christmas tree earring is a variation of a design by Jane Eborall.

Fox has been working on interminable repeats on an enormous round of a gigantic design and made a little "oopsie", a time or two, or three... After the crying, and cutting, and fixing, she slogged on through. There is an end... isn't there? The saga of the Monster doily continues.

IsDihara posts a remembrance of Bobbie Demmer, a long time tatter, designer, teacher and tatting mentor to many who passed away November 20th. The Christmas Berry wreath by LaRae Mikulecky is a lovely addition to anyone's Christmas ornament collection.

Kristen is working some three shuttle tatting in preparation for her next book review. The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito has motifs worked with one, two and three shuttles, motifs for the advanced tatter, motifs inspired by nature and edgings.

Marie found some brass keys at an estate sale that just needed a little something.

Wanda was pleased with the craft sale where her tatting brought her a profit this year. The Christmas tree decked out in tatting was a great success. She discovered some turkey doodles in her stash and may give them pin backings or used them as Thanksgiving table decorations.

Muskaan shares information on how she uses an auxiliary thread in 3D applications. She give two variations of how she does this working in padded tatting.

Batty Tatter has completed the Tatsy Christmas Angel that she did from a pattern that she got from Ebay. The Angel took her two weeks to tat and a day to assemble. This is the Tatsy Christams stocking and she did two, stitched them together and stuffed them with batting.

Lilas likes using beads in her tatting but it can be hard to find something suitable, especially when she has to order online. The Miyuki beads worked well on size 40 thread but when she ordered Czechs Preciosa beads they were smaller and could only be used on size 80 thread.

Sue has used one element of a mat by Jon Yusoff to make a snowflake, but not that the motif is finished she's wondering what it would look like in 2 colours with beads. These earrings were made for a friend and they just need finishing off and ear wires added before she ships them off.

Claire used Lizbeth size 20 in Falling Leaves to make this design from a cro-tat pattern.

Cigdem calls this necklace earring and bracelet set Passion. It's made with bright red colour beads tatted in silver metallic thread and she started with an antique pattern to make the necklace, then adapted the pattern to make the bracelet and the earrings.

Barbara has finished her challenge with Yakut, another of Jon Yusoff's designs from Elegant Tatting Gems worked in Lizbeth size 40, Spice Cake.

Grace shows pictures of the same motif based on a design from Anne Orr's collection which she had to modify to avoid cupping. She worked with both Aunt Lydia's thread and Garden Metallic, both with a metallic filament, but she found the Aunt Lydia thread better to work with.

Fox tried a number of solutions to get this motif from DMC's Festive Tatting to lay the way she wanted. The Monster Doily is a monster and she's hoping to have it done before the new year. This motif from Karey Solomon's Tatting Times, was done in Karey's own #40 HDT.

Kristen has done another review, this time on Tatting Patterns and Designs by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson which has a little of everything from doilies, edgings, and motifs for a mobile to collars and crowns.

Margaret bought two brooches which in the market last month and used white no 20 Lizbeth thread on both. The top one has gold seed and crystal beads, while the pink rose one has gold seed beads. This hanky edging has been her "take it with me" project for quite a while, but now it's done in Altin Basak thread no 50 white using a design from Renulek's snowflake mat.

Phyllis has put her monster doily on hold and instead is working on just 4 rows of Doily VI from Jan Stawasz's Tatted Treasures in Lizbeth size 20 in Root Beer Float as an engagement gift.

HisKid wanted to tat something interesting and decided that the broomstick lace look of the recent bookmark she tatted would look really good as a cross and while it might not have come out quite as she envisioned it, that results are very pretty.

Wanda found some novelty wooden spools with various colours of thread wound on them and by adding wee tatted motifs she now has some unique Christmas ornaments.
