Chantal joins the challenge with a tatted poppy she created for Remembrance day in honour of her father, starting with a base by Jon. Then she designed a second petal and a leaf to go with it. Adding a pin to the back makes a lovely wearable poppy.

Jenn found this mountains/night time scrap booking paper which formed a perfect background for Frivole's Twinkle Twinkle Star done in micro C-Lon nylon cord in baby blue colour for her first hand made card exchange.

Muskaan continues her motif play showing how different segments of the magic square can be utilized as triangles. The square design has been done in 4 colours showing 4 triangles. This triangular sections was used to decorate the collar of a dress. She arranged Josephine rings, which are often denoted as Josephine Knots or JK in other patterns, in a perpendicular fashion to make the centre and buds of her Tiny Heart Poppy flower and she has added a tutorial to her blog.

Erisnyx started in size 10 with this critter's legs and went on from there making this excess thread project. Standing about four inches tall at her snout, this three dimensional "dragon thing" as she calls it, has a wingspan of seven inches from wingtip to wingtip. After making the legs, she began the body at the tail and worked her way up to the neck. After she made the head and attached it she made the framework for the wings, and lastly the membrane which was sewn onto the body.

Lilas drew this design and then tatted it in black thread with tiny red beads. A simple and elegant pendant with matching earrings.

Sue tatted Jane Eborall's design for the Inside Out Snowflake and she has plans to put a bead or something in the middle. The next design is from the ROT Pattern of the Month Club but she has replaced picots with beads and the top still needs doing.

mb duke made several more pendants and earrings based on Ewa's pattern with modifications. Here are the earring to match the pendant done in  Perfect Quilter in red and beige. She liked how it turned out so she did another set in size 70 vintage Coats and Clark purple size 70 and Oren Bayan colour #4433 (the dark purple). Mirabelle from La Cosette made a lovely pair of snowflake earrings in size 80 Lizbeth thread in white.

Fox thinks she miscounted, and for once it's to her advantage, as she's on the 16th round and there are only 18 rounds in the Monster Doily. It's taking forever, but it is progressing. It may be boring to tat, but it's getting lovelier by the inch. She started on a design from DMC's Festive Tatting but the pattern was a stinker to follow so she's just doing her own thing and improvising as she goes, otherwise known as designing.

Marie used two strands of Coats and Clark, silver sewing thread around a blue cats-eye to make this Arctic Pendant. The pendant needed matching earrings. Here's another variation of the same pendant, followed by a picture of both pendants and the earrings together.

Martha needed a change of pace and worked a few of Jane's patterns beginning with her hummingbird and added in a third shuttle trying to work it all in one pass. The bottom design is Jane's Inside Out Snowflake.

HisKid has over 200 motifs done for the tablecloth already!!! She has been doing some test tatting for Elaine P. Gan a motif and a necklace, both of which are interesting designs.

Wanda has made another lampshade with a tatted edging, this one in Lizbeth black, size 20, that features a button motif on the side.

The Guidelines

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
6. Tatting 25 motifs in a year typically means tatting 2 motifs per month. Tatters who do not post any tatting content for 5 or 6 months will be removed from the list of participants.

Jenn is still working on the magic square doily and she's about 1/8 th of the way through the pattern working in Lizbeth #20 thread, White and Grape Dark #645

Muskaan de-constructs the Magic Square Doily to discover multiple smaller motifs. Some square, some with irregular shapes, some hearts, some hexagons, some octagons and a possible cross pattern have been outlined.

Lilas created another pendant using interlocking rings. These designs have been worked in thread size 40 Lizbeth and DMC, Japanese beads size 15/0 beads and gems in the centre. For white pendant, she chose a moonstone which would be ideal for a bride. The gray stone is a hematite.

Cigdem tatted these earrings and the hand accessory in silver metallic thread with blue jades, blue and clear crystals.

Grace tatted both of these ornaments from Monica Hahn's Christmas book with size 10 Aunt Lydia's metallic gold but you can't see the sparkles very well in this picture.

Diane finds the Mustika pattern from Elegant Tatting Gems by Jon Yusoff is simple and elegant tatted in size 20 Lizbeth, Arctic Waters.

Fox is at the stage where it takes an entire evening to complete just one pattern repeat, but the Monster doily, while being a huge undertaking, is too gorgeous to call it a monster. She has been practicing interconnected rings for months and has only persevered with some encouragement from Ninetta.

Kristen has done a book review of Festive Snowflakes and Ornaments edited by Barb Foster. The patterns are for shuttle an needle and range from simple bare thread designs to more elaborate fluffy picot designs. Basic white is expected in snowflakes, but seeing them done in colour in the books opens up new possibilities. Adding beads also gives new dimension to the designs. Tatted Snowflakes by Vida Sunderman gives detailed instructions including how much thread is needed for the design. One pattern is 3 dimensional and all of the designs are in long notation with black and white pictures, but this is a book to grow into.

Margaret finished Renulek's Summer Doily done in Lizbeth thread no 20 in Red Burst and White. This cross pattern from Ninetta's blog she really likes and she made the two with Lizbeth thread no 20 one in white and one in Purple thread. Then she did it again in white with gold beads.  

Wanda made another lamp shade with tatting done in Lizbeth size 20 black which didn't turn out quite as she had envisioned it, but she covered up the offending bit with a bow.
