Motifs, Heart, Doilies, Necklaces, Earrings, Bracelet, Pendants, Ice Drops, Snowflakes, Star, Flowers, Garland, Crosses and Suncatcher

Usha has been playing with her dot picots. Think of the dot picots as miniscule mignonette since they are tiny 1 stitch rings. Usha shows some of her designs with these tiny rings that give texture to the tatting, almost appearing like tiny beads. Rosemary Peel’s Heart was done with this technique as well as Nina Libin’s Heart for Kay. This small sample motif shows how the dot picot is done. She shows a comparison of knotted ring picots and dot picots used in the same motif.

Vera has been working on Renulek's 2017 doily in pristine white which shows off the elegance of the design. Vera has shown a close up of the last row and her doily measures 36 cm across.

Mistene is joining the challenge again and she's currently working on Renulek's Spring 2017 doily with some of Marilee's Sugar Maple size 20 HDT. Isn't it a gorgeous splash of colour?

Marthanne was approaching the end of row 9 and it didn't work! She backtracked to see what the problem was and found the point where she skipped a join 9 repeats from the end. There were colourful words and lots of snipping. She finally completed row 9 on the size 20 doily and now she has to repeat the process on the size 40 doily. She's going to start row 10 on the size 20 doily at the same time. (Can I just say, I'm already cringing because doing different rows on 2 different doilies at the same time seems like a recipe for disaster, but maybe I'm judging by my own lack of attentiveness.)

Elsa hasn't been posting anything recently, but that's because she got Lilas's new book and she has been immersed in tatting from it. She has tatted necklaces, pendants, earrings, bracelets and more from this book which has diagrams and instructions in both English and French.

Melanie tatted Diane's Ice Drop in black but she has chosen spring colours to tat some as gifts.

Cindy tatted an Ice Drop with thread that a coworker brought from India with a little metallic twist and a somewhat "mirrored" gem.

Diane has continued to start her days beginning an Ice Drop so that she'll have a lot of them stockpiled by Christmas. She finished off her day tatting another one. Diane thinks it's funny that her colour choice for Ice Drops seems to mirror her granddaughter's wardrobe. Another morning started with an Ice Drop and another evening finished off with a second. Subbing left time for just one Ice Drop. For a change of pace she tatted some Ice drops with beads. She's been sitting tatting which isn't healthy, so she decided to tat a little and walk a little just to keep her blood pumping.

Marie isn't sure where this UFO came from, but she found it at the bottom of her bag. She's been getting some things ready for Christmas and this snowflake is a design by Monica Hahn. Another of Monica's patterns. This star is also one of Monica's creations.

Muskaan has been experimenting with Usha's dot picots. She started with a simple flower, and as usual, shows her step by step progress, which I'm not including here. Check out her web site and get all the details. She went on to a more complex design, again with details. The pattern for her lovely Spring Garland is now available from her blog.

Phyllis has plans to tat 150 lucky penny pieces, tatting with pennies in the middle, and she currently has a bout 77 done. She had plans to submit this collection of tatting to the Palmetto Tatters Guild for their craft shows in April, but lost track of where they were, so they will be finished and brought to Tat Days for their auction. The tatted cats are earrings and the tan, red, and blue are necklace/earrings not finished. The snowflakes are her own design and she has plans to do another one with beads.

Sue tatted an altered version of Diane's Purple Fudge Ice Drop with 5 points to make it a star done in size 40 thread-Lizbeth Tropical Punch. She did a test tat for Elaine P. Gan, Chantilly Cross tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Pink Blossoms. This is another Elaine P. Gan design, called is Gift Cross because it looks like bows worked in Blue Ridge HDT by Tat-ilicious. Liberty Cross by Elaine is tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Pineapple Parfait. Diane's Purple Fudge pattern tatted in Lizbeth size 20 Red Burst, without the top rings, which she omitted because she didn't think she had enough thread on the shuttle. It's really pretty with the light shining through it. Another Ice Drop tatted emptying shuttles. Here are the two side by side. Sue wanted a Suncatcher for herself with a heart in the centre with a clear bingo chip/tiddly wink. She enclosed it in 2 hearts, one on each side, then tatted around the outside of the chip adding picots for later joining, and joining to the hearts. It's done in Lizbeth size 40 Butterfly Breeze thread.

Wanda took a couple of tries to make the Milan bookmark. The first time she didn't think about how to tat the arms and the second she finished but the bottom was too wide. This one in Ocean Turquoise Light turned out great.
