Cheryl created a 60's blast from the past tie dyed thread in sizes 10, 20 and 30 and then used the size 30 to create a snowflake with a finding in the middle. Another size 20 thread was dyed in black and white and called truth and lies which she used to tat this frilly heart.
Jane gave Diane's Snow Crystal a try but her finding was too big and her second try without the finding worked but might look better with smaller beads. She has challenged herself to tat interlocking rings and has been checking out a number of websites with instructions for them and little by little they are improving. Using a larger size 10 thread seems to have helped make Diane's Snow Crystal pattern work on the larger finding.
Wooroosa tatted this doily in a vintage variegated Star tatting cotton which is about size 80. Graciella is the name of this lovely oval doily by Iris Niebach which she tatted in a variegated thread in shades of blue.
Margaret is working through her countdown to Christmas snowflake challenge and this is one of Diane's designs without a finding tatted in size 20 Lizbeth. Followed by Five Pointed Star from the book Christmas Angels and other Tatting Patterns by Monica Hahn. Just the middle of Nancy's Tatted 10-Point Snowflake. From Bree's Way, snowflake No 14. The Oriental Christmas Tree from the book Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns by Monica Hahn, is not a snowflake, but it does give a little variety. This little charmer is from Anna Magazine December 1991 pattern no 37, followed by Snowflake Ornament from the Book Easy Tatting Page 20.
Lelia joined the Tollway tatters where Sue Anna was experimenting with Diane's Snow Crystal and she brought a beautiful motif tatted in Lizbeth Scottish Thistle and shared this beaded snowflake she received from Jane. Barbara was tatting Merie Lettieri's bell pattern from the L.A.C.E. newsletter. Diane gifted her these snowflakes and showed her Snow Crystal pattern done in size 10. The white star ornament on the left was tatted by CathyB's Mom, Marlene. Lelia has been enjoying Marilee Rockley's Shuttle Tatting and used some thread samples, size 3 for the flowers and butterflies to use on cards and for scrapbooking.
Kristen hasn't had a lot of tatting time but she did manage to tat some snowflakes. She loves this one with the circle in the middle, although she had to cut out a mistake and fix it. Since she was on a roll, she tatted another one.
Jessica tatted another bracelet, but where she tatted back to back rows on the first one, on this one she just added a matching row of chain on the second side. The Christmas tree is covered with tatting including tatted garlands and garlands of beads wrapped in tatting and lots of snowflakes.
Nancy's little elf seems a bit embarrassed to be posing with a tatted thong.
Diane used Sherry's Country Christmas HDT for this snowflake for her Doodad Snowflake #3. Followed by Doodad Snowflake #5 in the same colour. She participated in the button swap and here are her snowflakes. She used a larger finding for her Triangular Doodad Snow Crystal but this one kind of looks like a Boysenberry Dk Christmas tree. The trouble with using Lizbeth Boysenberry Dk #644 size 20 for snowflakes is that she's craving boysenberry pie. The empty chocolate tin is rapidly filling with tatted snowflakes. Tatting while talking on the phone results in a mistake, also known as a design variation. The Tollway Tatters took on the problem of tatting around a larger finding and the suggestion of using size 10 thread worked. Here's a picture of the Triangular Doodad Snow Crystal in size 10 Lizbeth. Sue Anna gave Diane some size 10 Lizbeth on Saturday, and she started tatting another Triangular Doodad Snow Crystal, only she accidentally used a different stitch count on the first ring and decided to carry on, but it didn't work out as well as the first version. Regardless, she has 2 more snowflakes done. The Marian snowflake is a new design by Marilee, that Diane did in size 10 thread, which made it 4 inches across, so she think's she'll use a smaller thread for the next one.
Fox started another favourite in green with red beads. Karey Solomon's design tats up beautifully in Caron's Wildflower. Here is Mary Konior's Posy pattern finished. Patchwork is another Mary Konior design, also tatted in Caron Wildflower, but this thread is fuzzy and not shiny like the first one. Row 11 of Honey Napkin is done and row 12 has lots and lots of beads.
Isdihara used Lizbeth size 20 Pink Cocoa to tat Ineke Kuiperij's Horse (on a paperclip).
Jess set up this tatted arrangement from some of her newest tattings. She has been working on her Lace Mat but she's just giving a sneak peek. This little motif is tatted in Winter Jewels, a perfect colourway for this time of year. Here is Karey Solomon's snowflake design from the November 2012 Tatting Times tatted in Winter Jewels.
Marie added Lizbeth Falling Leaves tatting to these findings to make a pair of earrings. The next pair were done in Lizbeth, size 20, Autumn Spice. Then a pair in Lizbeth, size 20, Vineyard. A pair of clip earrings were tatted with pearl cotton size 12 .
Orsi combined a stand up collar with tatting for a different kind of necklace. Here's the necklace and earring set in black.
Sue tatted Yarnplayer's Wondrous Window pendant in size 20 Lizbeth Black and Sacred Lotus HDT from Crochet4U2Dye4.
Wanda tatted this snowflake in pink for her Christmas cards. This pattern is from several years ago but this time she added beads. although it's hard to get pictures of them on the tree.
