Sarah has decided to join the challenge and begins with this motif that is part of Elgiva heart from Martha Ess' book Playing with Picots.

Batty Tatter made this butterfly without the pearls from Shabby Chick Tatting by Rozella F. Linden and didn't realize until she saw it in daylight that she'd used two different shades of white.

Julie used Lizbeth 20 White with Miyuki 6 mm bugles and 8/0 seed beads to tat Ice Queen by Joëlle Paulson. She's made the Heavenly Snowflake by Joelle before in a variegated thread, but did it again, this time in white with beads.

Sue tatted another pair of tiny snowflake earrings using Jane Eborall's pattern.

Nancy shares her tatted Christmas tree along with wishes for a Merry Christmas.

Fox has a handle on the ins and outs, ups and downs of this Land of Laces piece which she's working in Lea's #50 thread. She's down to the cross your fingers and hope there's enough thread on the bobbin working on this edging. (Been there, done that, scrounged through the scrap bin for enough to splice in and finish!) TA DA! There was enough, and now another lovely hanky is done.

Jenn shares a collage of tatted snowflakes and motifs with wishes for a Merry Christmas. She recently purchased some beading needles that allowed her to finally attempt Corina Meyfeldt's Snowflake. Now she's thinking of buying more bugle beads so she can tat more. This cute flower motif by Jennifer Williams let her finish her personal challenge of 15 in 2015.

Lilas is thinking her To Do list has become unmanageable, but she did get this white lace and pearl necklace done.

Marie made this bracelet by C-M Handmade and had enough thread left over to make a bookmark. Then a little left over thread made a zipper pull. The last bracelet was given to her sister, so she had to make one for herself. Of course what is a bracelet without earrings?

HisKid just had to get some tatting in and chose to test tat one of Elaine P. Gan's bracelets in size 40 Kaleidoscope HDT, although she may use it as a bookmark instead.

Wanda's Christmas wishes are shared with a tatted snowflake and button ornament. Wanda tatted the plane on the right a few years ago and the friend she gave it to had it hanging on the wall looking a bit droopy. This year she tatted the one on the left and mounted both of them so that they can hang proudly on the wall. She had requests for the button ornament patterns and she has posted a few of them on her patterns page.

The Guidelines

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
6. Tatting 25 motifs in a year typically means tatting 2 motifs per month. Tatters who do not post any tatting content for 5 or 6 months will be removed from the list of participants.

Batty Tatter didn't tat much on holidays, but she did get this bookmark completed.

Sue has one more motif to do on the hat and the crown is finished. Here's the finished crown being modelled, and here's the beginning of the brim.

Ancolie tatted a bouquet of cluny leaves which weren't difficult, they just needed a little practice. She tatted simple flowers using cluny leaves and the basic patterns can easily be found, but she's not satisfied with the results. Lacemakers say it takes the practice of  a 100 tries to make a perfect tally, or in the case of tatting, a perfect cluny.

Fox made Brüssel by Adelheid Dangela from Occhi Patchwork which she found fun to do, if a but fiddly. The hankie is done, although she wishes it were not so stiff. She tatted a bit over the weekend, while visiting, and discovered when she got home that her shuttle was missing, but happily it was found out on the patio, a little damp, but functional.

Kathy found Jane Eborall’s Small Motif design worked well with the six sided finding she had to make this pendant in Lizbeth Christmas Red, size 20. Another one made this paper weight with some extra embellishments.

Kristen is making progress on her pillow edging and she's wondering, should the edging go all the way around or just on one side? When attaching it, should it be attached just by the bottom picots, or all the picots. (Personally, I'd go for tatting it all the way around, unless I was running out of thread, and I'd attach by ALL the picots because it makes it easier to wash without having to block it again every time it's used.)

Marie wanted to make something a little bigger, so she used  silver sewing thread and tatted around a string of beads to make this Teal Cross. The Purple Passion Drop was made with 3 cat's eyes; a triangular dark purple, a rectangular gold, and a pear shaped light purple tatted with two strands of gold sewing thread. The green drop was tatted with an emerald-green cats eye, using silver sewing thread.

Martha has had a request for her folded rings tutorial, so she's added it to the Free Patterns Page on her blog.

Wanda had a series of problems with the computer, losing the model, losing the most recent pattern changes, but finally, here is her tatted airplane done in Lizbeth thread # 605 Silver in size 20. She has all of the white centres done for her triangles and just has to combine them.

IsDihara is playing catch up. She managed to mail a note card with the Margaret Daisy motif to Fox, finished an airplane for a baby onesie, she's test tatting Hearts Honor and working on a split ring edging in size 40 Lizbeth Mocha Brown for a project that she's been thinking about.

Fox is glad she has de-stashed a lot of thread she doesn't like using like the Cebelia, but finds it surprising that she does like the Perle size 8 that she is using for Jon's Sweetheart medallion.

Isa is using a double bobbin shuttle to work on this edging that she is designing with a blue size 50 thread and a pink size 20 thread.

Kelly tatted Eileen Staffords little doily pattern called Blue Doily in Sulky quilting thread size 12wt and not only is the doily only 45 inches across, it caused her to bend her tatting needle almost in half, so that she had to order a new one. The second doily is one that she has been working on for about 3 weeks and it measures 12 inches done in Coats size 30. The patten came in one the books she got from Jane.

Martha has a new snowflake pattern incorporating Mrs Mees pearl tatting technique, although she's not sure if there might be a similar design out there that uses regular rings.
