Snowflakes, Ornaments, Motifs, Doily, Earrings, Pendant and Bookmarks

Jane shares some snowflakes she tatted last year. These are Jane Eborall's 2004 snowflake.

Ginny tatted an assortment of ornaments as gifts the tatting is draped over clear balls and festooned with an assortment of whimsical Christmas charms. Can you imagine ornaments like this featuring charms suited to the recipient like sports, golfing, baseball, fishing etc. It would be a great gift for the hard to tat for men on out lists.

Jessica picked up a box of these one inch ornaments last year and she's just getting around to doing something with them now. Pretty and petite.

Christmas preparations have left Ancolie little time to tat, but she has finished this, the inner part of Marilee's Arches doily.

Bree wasn't following a pattern when she made this snowflake Size 20, Lizbeth, ecru which her 4 year old granddaughter likes because it looks "fuzzy".

Fox had to snip out a lot of the 13th row as the beads distracted from the flow of the design. It's nearing the 20 inch mark now.

Jess' daughter is following in her footsteps, creating her own unique colourway. This one is called Livi's Ballet Shoes and Jess used it to tat her Starflower design in size 40.

Marie shows us her little 18" Christmas tree with all of her baubles and tatsmithing, from her three books. Little buttons she found at Walmart were done in pearl cotton #12. A single earring, found in the estate sale jewelry box was converted into a pendent with pearl cotton #12.

Mica's new motif for the challenge is Glittering Snowflake from Tatted Snowflakes by Vida Sunderman made with Kreinik braid No. 4.

Michelle added Elizabeth Zipay's and Decoromana's little snowflake patterns to some needle cases for her tatting club.

Wanda likes to tat a new snowflake each year, but she gets bored doing the same one over and over. The red and blue are this year's snowflake and the green one is Betsy Snowflake by Betsy Evans. The bookmarks were gifts for the pastor and his wife and the girls in her Sunday School class.

Snowflakes, Flowers and Decked out Christmas trees

Jane thinks a sisal flower makes a good tree and she has decorated it with some of her tatting. Which was when she noticed this one came with a little green snake.

Margaret tatted Grace's Cherry Blossom Snowflake in in Lizbeth size 20 although she modified it slightly. These are Fluffy snowflakes by Wally Sosa tatted in Oren Bayan Koton Perle no 8.

Diane tatted her Doodad Snowflake #5 in size 20 Lizbeth, Snow White followed by her Doodad Snowflake #4 and Doodad Snowflake #3 in the same thread. The snowflakes are tatted and hung on the tree, ready for Christmas.

Fox shares a Christmas card for her tatting buddies.

Michelle's Mom asked for tatting this year. This pile of tatting may not look like much here, but it shapes up into e Jeanne Lugert's roses and the leaves are a modification of a leaf that she saw on Singtatter's page.

Ornaments, Bookmarks, Pendants, Snowflakes, Christmas Trees, Doilies and Horse

Laurie tatted Mark Myers' Madonna & Child in Lizbeth size 40 in #652 blue, #630 peach light, and #601 white. She did "his and hers" Easy Tatted Cross bookmarks with Lizbeth thread in size 40 in #114 Sea Shells as gifts for Christmas.

Jane found that if she left a small thread space between rings she got a more linear effect, sort of like chain maille. Done in purple with Jane Eborall's pendant it has a striking effect.

Margaret's day 16 snowflake is from Easy Tatting Book called Five-inch Snowflake tatted it in Lizbeth size 20. Jonn Yusoff's Quantiesque snowflake was tatted in Oren Bayen Koton Perle Thread no 8 in white and a yellow variegated which goes from very pale yellow to gold. Snow Crystal deigned by Diane from Lace-lovin Librarian is done with a finding, but she thinks the one she had was too large, so she did it again substituting a ring of 12p separated by 2ds with a gold bead in the centre and gold seed beads on the chains.

Diane tatted Cherub's Wing Snowflake from A Veritable Tatted Blizzard by Samantha Melnychuk and that finished up her size 10 thread in lavender. She used Snow White size 20 Lizbeth #601 and the pattern is her Doodad Snowflake #7. Tatting Marie sent her a picture of her tree covered in tatted snowflakes and ornaments, accented by a gorgeous tree skirt embellished with tatted angels. With it came this beautiful framed tatted tree. Inspired by Marie's tree she's thinking that she may have to do  an entire series of white snowflakes and here is her Doodad Snowflake #6 to start it off.

Fox tried Jane Eborall's Fandango Button Snowflake using size 40 thread instead of the size 20 suggested and it worked out all right, although it could probably use more beads on the centre long picots. She persevered through row 12 of the Honey Napkin and is realizing the agony of working on a doily It begins with joy whipping through the rows, then it grinds down to slow slogging as each progressive row seem interminable which is aggravated by the delay of adding beads. She finally, finally finished row 12 and shows the progress so far, at 18 inches, compared with the Snowflake Napkin which was also designed by Renulek.

Isdihara is adding to her herd of horses. This one is tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Autumn Apple Pie, #169.

Jess was asked to create a colour that resembles the iridescent colors of the grackle bird, with colors of navy, dark teal and dark purple, except that it's very difficult to capture the colours on screen where it comes out looking almost black. Here is her Starflower design in the "Grackle Mess" which does give an idea of the colour.

Marie found this clip earring at an antique show which she modified and added tatting in Lizbeth, size 20, antique purple medium, creating a unique pendant. Aunt Lydia's Bamboo Ice Crochet Thread, Size 3 thread, green ice tea was used to turn one of Jon's motifs into a pendant.

Martha used Minuet, by La Cossette for her mass-production snowflake this year.
