Snowflakes, Angels, Bookmarks, and New Designs

Viv has tatted an assortment of bookmarks and will be sending them off to their new homes. She started the Spinning Wheel Glass mat but has a mistake to fix in it. Then she started another of Mary Konior's patterns, the large cross and needed to retro tat several times. It may have mistakes in it, but she's glad it's finally done. Some days you're on a roll and everything works out perfectly where you have just the right colours of thread for a project and you have the perfect colour of beads to match. Or you finish a design with just a couple of inches of thread left over, or the pattern works out so delightfully that is just flies off your shuttle. Other days, just the opposite occurs.
Ladydoc shows us the progress on motif #3 for the 25 motif tatting challenge done in Finca #12 variegated threads she got this summer at the quilt shop.
Vanessa tatted the daffodil adapted from Toni Storer's book Tatting Down the Garden Path. It was tatted in Altin Basak size 10. IsDihara tatted the Basic Strawberry Heart 2003 by Birgit Phelps in bright strawberry red Coats & Clarks "boilfast" size 70 tatting cotton. Mica tatted these booties in DMC Cebelia 30 in 2 shades of blue. She started the last week of August and finished them last weekend. The baby's due next week. That's cutting it close!
Krystle finished the Amusement doily in Lizbeth "Desert Bloom". It was difficult finding a pattern that worked with the colourway.

Wanda has been making snowflakes in both white and colors. The one in the bangle is Lizbeth thread size 20 in Caribbean. The white one is in DMC size 20 Cebelia and the other one is Lizbeth size 20 in Christmas Delight.

Jeanne tatted the Threes snowflake in size 80 to see how it would work as an earring. The first sample is size 30 Melamine HDT from Tarnished Tatter and the second one is DMC size 80 HDT in Tuscany from LadyShuttleMaker. It may need to be tatted with wire if she decides to add beads. Jeanne chose to tat Miranda Rensberger's design from the Design-Tat course but it became more challenging to tat it in 2 colours. It's a beautiful design well executed. The bookmark is a design that Jeanne started on some time ago and was left unfinished when she ran out of thread. She also test tatted Krystle's design from the Design-Tat course in variegated Manuela size 20 and the green is a Flora size 20 the same as Miranda's design. Barbara tatted this design from Anna magazine, September 2009 using Lizbeth thread size 20 #532 which she was hoping to use under a teapot, but the pot is too big. She tatted 2 of the Celtic Style Christmas wreath in different colours of Lizbeth size 20. The pattern is by Birgit Phelps 2001. Aileen is having a giveaway, be sure to check her blog for the instructions. She has tatted 2coasters as Christmas gifts and both patterns are from Lyn Morton's book, Tatting Patterns. Water Lily was done in size 30 Omega and Margaret was tatted in size 40 Milford thread purchased from the local craft store.

Anne has posted some pretty SSSR angel that were introduced in the online class and she has posted the link to the pattern.

Diane began tatting a coaster from Tatting Lace, one of her Japanese books but she hasn't had time to work on it. Heather is celebrating the completion of her new book, "Tatted Earrings and Things". For Tatting Tea Tuesday she tatted Susan K Fuller's Hearts Desire, then the Tiny Square Tea Pot from Martha Ess' book Tea is for Tatting and finally Sandra's Dainty Heart by Crazy Mom Tats. All these are done in size 30 thread, Summer's Day and Autumn Mountain. For interest she tried out some new techniques, a cluny leaf and interlaced picots in needle tatting.Joy created another variegated tree ornament and decorated a card with some thread her sister found at a sale. Kathy used Lizbeth in Springtime #115 thread to make and edging and a butterfly and then added them to a dark blue T-shirt. Martha shows pictures of all the excitement at Palmetto's
Sherry has returned from Camp Wanna Tat and shows us this lovely Pineapple Butterfly designed by Camelia Crapo she tatted in size 80 Majestic thread.

Crosses, Doily, Flower Motifs, Snowflake and Shamrock

Vanessa tatted Jane Eborall's reversible motif and found that it was fun to follow and she'll probably do it again in pink. She also learned a new way to hide ends. Shirl tatted on a covered button in DMC 100. The cross bookmarks were made for her cousin's mother in-law and her sister in DMC 60 white. That makes 21 of 25 motifs and Shirl's nearing the finish line.

Steph re-posted a picture of her Gerbera Daisy Doily. She also posted a picture of some of her thread stash inside a pumpkin shaped bowl. What a lovely colourful display. Now Steph needs to collect a lot more glass bowls to show off the rest of her 451,004 balls. Ummm, Steph? if you have that much thread you ought to be opening a store, because you aren't likely to use that much tatting thread in one life time unless you tat as fast as Mark.
Ellen has been working on more ATCs and created this lovely cover for her ATC file adorned with a tatted peacock and an edging with flowers and a butterfly. She is including in her challenge pieces 2 designs she created for the Design-Tat class based on a flower garder theme so she's calling them "Dream Garden"

Barbara has tatted Jon's "Quantiesque" snowflake in Lizbeth size 40 thread. The variegated is called Carousel and the other is Ecru. Heather has done a custom dyed thread in gold green and black called Ruth's Irish and tried it out on a celtic shamrock. She has been using Jon's technique for covering a ring and ran out of thread so she changed to a smaller ring covered in Mulberry. She has been trying out some new designs the first was too close to a published design so she tried again. Her daughter's doll is modelling the pieces in her hair and around her neck. The butterfly is Ellen Lai's design.

Wally has some new tatting in her shop.
