Batty Tatter's daughter suggested adding beads to each join, which was just the touch it needed, and she finished it off with a little star on the top of the Christmas tree.

Diane has almost finished tatting around 3 motifs, which doesn't sound like much, but at this size, it's a huge amount of tatting.

Fox was not pleased with the first Starlight Doily, tatted totally with Lizbeth #80 so she tried it again, using DMC Cordonnett #80 and blue variegated Lizbeth.

Lilas is thrilled to be presenting her lace jewellery at Pole Bijou Baccarat and she's packing up her treasures for the show.

Marie created this pair of earrings that remind her of the spokes of a wheel for her Garden Collection. This is another pendant for the same collection.

ClaireB has her second motif done and this one is her own design of a heart with beads made using Sunlight Polyester thread in size 60.

Batty Tatter made Jan Stawasz's Christmas tree using #10 gold thread with a strand of gold metallic incorporated in it and she's wondering if she should leave it as is or glue on some coloured beads. The angel on the lower right is made with Lizbeth Blue Ice and Arctic waters threads with the rings made with one and the chains the other. The snowflake in the middle is one from Jan Stawsz's book.

Elsa has provided some links to instructional information from various tatters on her blog. She has provided a modern visual diagram for the Tatted Diamond from Isabella Beeton's, Book of Needlework, 1870, available online at Project Gutenberg. One of her early designs was an earring based around a covered metal ring where she created a base row just like you would create a split chain which she has shown as a tutorial on her blog. Another tutorial she has created shows how to make a split chain.

Lelia just received some new gauges and had to give them a try.

Cindy made her first attempt at Frivole's Snowdrop snowflake. This one she planned to save for Christmas has already flown out the door as a gift to a retiring coworker.

Claire used 4 shuttles and 2 different colours of thread to create these interwoven rings.

Diane hasn't had much tatting time but she finally has her doily back on track.

Fox is using #80 Lizbeth to tat Mary Konior's Hedgehog edging. Mary Konior's Hoop-la, tatted with Lea's #50 thread, is coming along nicely and she thinks she'll have enough thread to finish it. She's keeping her finger's crossed that there is enough. Whew! There was enough. Now that it's done she can turn her eyes to re-doing the Starlight Doily. Perfect design, perfect measurements, and perfect thread make for a perfect hanky.

Marie continues tatting dragons and this little one is done in Holly thread. These two are made in Midnight thread. These Dusk coloured dragons are tatted in sewing thread. Two more are done in Citrus. A pair in Dawn colours.

Martha shares her design process for creating this delightful angel. It began with a rough sketch and an idea for a floral robe similar to an earlier design she had worked on.

Muskaan found Eleonore’s Angels a challenge and she shows you how she worked through the design. The troubles she had and the things she learned working through it. This kitty face was designed & shared by L Shelby as a Halloween piece. She chose to work it in colours that gave her a blue eyed tortoiseshell cat.

Sue tatted this cross, Malene, from Tatted Bookmarks -cross-shaped by Lene Bjorn in size 40 Yarnplayer's HDT Celery for a female Sunday night senior. The Cross Bookmark from Jennifer Williams, tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Autumn Spice is for male senior.

Wanda created this paperclip button bookmark with many tails for her aunt to use in church.

The Guidelines

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing me to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. The blogs are ALL checked whenever there is an update using the links list in the sidebar on the right, there is no need to advise me that you have added new content. If your new items haven't shown up, it's because I haven't had time to do an update yet.
3. I can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. I don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell me when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. From past experience I know the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let me know so that I continue to check your blog on a regular basis. Also let me know if once was enough so that I can move your blog to the list of past participants.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
6. Tatting 25 motifs in a year typically means tatting 2 motifs per month. Tatters who do not post any tatting content for 5 or 6 months will be removed from the list of participants.

Batty Tatter is having a ball with the Christmas ornaments. The tree in the middle is her first try at a Jan Stawasz's creation tatted in size 30 and not the recommended 10. The two on the top left and right are Betsy Evans. The bottom right is one she bought from Etsy, from Romana Stelmach. She's still making Eileen Stafford's angles which she added a 3rd row to and put some beads on the bottom halo and wing tips. The two in the middle outer edge are Lene Bjorn's 24 Snowflakes in Tatting, Eleventh day of December. And The top middle is the same book, the fifth day of December. The last is the bottom left, which is a mistake, as she was was trying to make the eleventh day of Dec. This ornament is an idea copied from a fellow tatter.

Julie was honoured to be nominated for the Craftree Awards in the Category "Best project : Jewellery".

Sue shares a bracelet done from that pattern that that Jane Eborall shared, which started life as a bookmark.

Diane wanted to give her wrist a rest but she still managed to complete 7 pattern repeats. Being busy means the she only has 12 pattern repeats done on round 17. Of course the lack of tatting was fortunate as she realized that she had missed a bit and didn't have much to snip off.

Erisnyx hasn't posted for a while, but now she's back with a vengeance. This puppy is from Inga Madsen's Tatted Animals, done in size 20 Lizbeth thread, #601, #603, #604, and #691. Kersti's Tatted Bookmark pattern was made for her uncle's birthday in colours a Denver Broncos fan will love. Aislyn's bookmark, by Carrie Neahring was tatted for her great aunt's birthday in size 80 Lizbeth thread, #138, #670, and #671. Another friend of hers had a baby, so she tatted her little girl's name in  size 20 Lizbeth thread, #620 and #621. When she was looking for a motif to put on some letters, this design from Tatting Patterns and Designs by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy Persson was just what she wanted, done in size 20 Lizbeth thread, #618, #625, and #680. The cousin she tatted Jane Eborall's Fandango bookmark for, asked for 5 more so she went on a tatting spree and made them in  size 20 Lizbeth thread, #146 and #603, #132 and #620, #184 and #657, #124 and #684, #122 and #633. She tatted some Beaded Butterflies from Tatting Patterns by Lyn Morton in size 20 Lizbeth thread, #124. Tatslife's Two Round Bookmark was made for her brother-in-law's birthday in size 20 Lizbeth thread, #100 and #638. Carolyn Groves's Simple Straight Bookmark was tatted for her aunt's birthday in size 20 Lizbeth thread, #132 and #680. Ruth Perry's Snowflake 2008 was made for her aunt as a thank you in size 20 Lizbeth thread, #163. The Coaster or Centre for Main Pattern from Tatting Patterns by Lyn Morton was done in size 20 Lizbeth, using up left over thread. Penolopy Bulnick's Tatted Pumpkin Earrings pattern was done in size 20 Lizbeth thread, #138 and #694.

Fox was getting frustrated trying to get the streaks off her glasses, and in a brainstorm, pulled out the lovely hanky Umintsuru sent her to help keep them clean. Fox has challenged us to guess what this one is. It's Starlight, one of those free vintage online patterns which she tatted in Lizbeth size 80 to use up the thread.

Marie tatted Michelle Bottosff's small dragon to go with the larger version done in Vineyard thread. Then she tatted another with a double tail. Then one in a plain green. Anne Bruvold's Flying Minor Norwegian Dragon done in Aurora. Another done in Holly.

Martha revisited some favourite patterns from past Palmetto's classes. This is Erin Holloway's Dinky the Cat from 2012 with floating chain legs. Doodle the Poodle from 2010 is also by Erin and a bit of a challenge to tat.

HisKid tatted a lanyard for her husband in size 10 Lizbeth Angel's Love and Turquoise Twist using interlocking rings which should make it durable especially since he wanted 3 rather heavy crosses put on it. This is Three Blind Mice pattern from Tatting Patterns by Mary Konior done in size 40 Lizbeth Fruit Fizz, just to empty some shuttles.  

Wanda made this apple bookmark to go in the apple themed basket for an auction for a church fundraiser. She created it with layered rings, a technique that she hadn't used before.
