Bookmarks, Motifs, Necklaces, Cat, Flowers, Doilies, Bell and Pendants

Dawn has joined the challenge again and made this bookmark for her friend Norja's sponsored African child as a gift for her birthday using a pattern is based on a butterfly by Janessa, in Lizbeth size 10 Butterfly Breeze and Coats Virtuoso in white.

Jenn participated in a Tatting Tool Exchange and among her gifts was a mini crochet hook with a gorgeous motif.

Muskaan began with Kersti’s Anastasia Tatted Bookmark and added some free form tatting to fill in the open areas. She tatted this edging a while ago and turned it into a bookmark. However she wasn't really happy with it and decided to do it again in Aqua Blue (4054-0185) in AMC size 20, but it still needed something, so she added flowers and coiled chains. Here you can see both front and back.

Lilas wanted to remake the Ondine bracelet using speckled obsidian pearls  and black Lizbeth size 40, but the change in the bead size meant tweaking the pattern and the result is this charming necklace.

mb duke tatted this cat from Inga Madsen's book, Tatted Animals, in Lizbeth 40 Tropical Punch. She wants to give each family member a tatted cross bookmark for their Bible and this is the third one she has almost finished, done in Lizbeth size 40 Sea Coral Citrus and Lime Green Light.

Grace tatted Mrs. Odum's Daisy twice, doing it the second time with beads. Her instructions on Renulek's doily are continuing, although, as you can see here, she added beads which aren't part of the original pattern.

Diane hasn't been doing a lot of tatting, but she did get some work done on her doily.

Fox started this doily, but the outer rounds just aren't behaving the way she wants them to so she cut and started again, and again, and it's still not working the way she wants. She set it aside to tat something more encouraging and brought out the Japanese book to tat one of her favourites. She started it again in size 70 Venus thread and the join separated in the centre. GRRRR! She did however manage a small motif in the Venus from a Russian book from Kristen.

Kristen is home for a while and managed to tat another of Nina Libin's necklace designs with some matching earrings created by using the first few rounds of the pattern. She also made another bell, using a Jane Eborall pattern.

Margaret has been on holidays and found this little tatted doily in the hotel gift shop and it's the first tatting she has seen on sale anywhere.

Marie made this coppery pendant with two strands of copper sewing thread around a purple cats-eye. The scroll work tatting around this stone is done with two strands of Coats and Clark, silver sewing thread.

Mica finished this Italian doily in April but has just scanned it now. It's one of 3 doilies that all start with the same centre and was tatted in DMC special dentelles 80 in ecru.

Snowflakes, Bookmarks, Flowers, Brain Cell, Octopus Alphabet, Cupcake, Dragon, Necklaces, Earrings, Bracelet and Doilies

Muskaan has been tatting away and made  the Isis snowflake, designed by Robin Perfetti with size 40 AMC threads, in white & lavender 4054-098. Kersti's Anastasia Bookmark  was tatted with size 20 AMC in Dark Blue 0131 & Purple 0101 and she used Art silk/rayon threads in Blue & Purple shades for the tassel. Victat’s Roses are Red was combined with Martha’s Shamrock and the Rose was made with AMC size 20, Pink w/White 4054-01201 and the Shamrock was made with AMC size 20, Green w/White 4054-1213.

Erisnyx has been tatting at least seventy-five of Martha's brain cells in Lizbeth size 20, colours #620 and #621 for her ward's Young Women to put on their camp hats and shirts. For her own hat, she added a chain made from pink size 10 thread, which she tightened so that it would curl, then sewed it onto the hat. For her cousin's birthday she decided to tat his name using patterns from A Tatters' Paradise, in five different colours of size 10 thread. For her aunt's birthday she made the cupcake pattern by Be-stitched, with the frosting in two different blues. For her father's birthday she tatted Jane Eborall's 3D Octopus pattern in size 10 thread, with sequin eyes.

Lilas has a project in mind using these tiny individual tatted rings.

Sue altered Anne Bruvold's Minor Norwegian Dragon with a very long tail to make a Book Dragon in Red Burst by Lizbeth. This pendant set was almost a full kit from the Ring of Tatters in the UK, done in blue and silver some of the young lady's favourite colours. She found a bookmark pattern of Celtic knots which she plans to use as a bracelet. here is the front and back of it so far.

Grace is continuing her step by step instructions on how to work Renulek's Spring Doily.

Fox finished Renulek's Serwetka Letnia 2014 making the last row in a lovely caramel DMC and it's just under 10 inches, tatted in #80 thread. She persevered tatting with Cebelia, and after 5 rows she decided the thread was just not going to work and cut it all off. Now, she's using Anchor Mercer #40 which seems to be working out.

Marie took this little cab from an old clip earring and added tatting around it to make a unique pendant.

HisKid has been test tatting for Elaine P. Gan at Test Tatters on Facebook and this is the Hanging Garden Cross 2 from DMC Tatting Book (Elaine designed the cross) worked in size 40 Lizbeth Sky Blue Med. The Tina Motif Cross also designed by Elaine from Schiffchenspritze by Tina Frauberger 1921 is  tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash.

Lanyard, Doilies, Bookmarks, Motifs, Flowers, Teapot and Headpiece

Stephanie used a lanyard designed by Patti Duff and tatted several  in Sulky #12-wt cotton and one in Perfect Tatter #17-wt cotton both with size 11 seed beads. She had some to give and some to keep for her glasses. The first 3 rounds of Renulek's Spring 2014 Napkin turned out to be just the right amount of tatting for her to enjoy playing with colour. The purple version is size 50 thread, a vintage DMC and the green doily is Sulky #12-wt (Lime Sherbet) and DMC 80 ecru.

mb duke managed to complete a bookmark, designed by Jane Eborall, done in Arctic Waters and Sky Blue medium, size 40 for a teacher gift for the end of the school year. She also did a Grace Tan adapted cross pattern from a bookmark designed by Jane Eborall and Jane McClellan in Grape Pomegranate size 40.

Ginny set up her tatting table at Ward Ohara Good Old Days 2014. Renulek's Spring Napkin is now pictured at row 11.

Diane is making slow progress on Renulek's Letnia, but she is making progress.

Fox was hoping that when she added the next row that this doily would lay flat, but no such luck. The pattern already challenging and having to change the stitch count just makes it worse. Driburg from Occhi-Patchwork by Adelheid Dangela was tatted in Rosarios #20 which she has a lot of, now that she's decided not to use it for the Russian challenge. However the white version wasn't satisfying so she re-tatted it in #40 Lizbeth and it came out much better, which just proves that good thread can make the design.

 

Martha's personal 25 Motif Challenge is to complete motifs from vintage patterns from prior to 1925 like these from Priscilla Tatting Book No. 2. The bottom one is a part of an edging in Buttericks Tatting and Netting (1896). This is her current vintage WIP. The Palmetto's Tat Days 2014 feature Tatting Tea and Toffee.

Michelle wanted to make one of those beautiful headpieces she has seen for her niece's first communion and was quite miffed when she mailed it off and got no response. It seems she was a year early for with her offering! Lots of little flowers with pearl centres, painstakingly sewn onto the band. Oodles of pearl beads tatted around to make a trail and lots of plain tatting for the looped trails.

Wanda went on vacation and had shuttles wound with Perfect Quilter 085 ready to go, except that tatting in the car with kids and fine thread, really don't mix. She made stitch count mistakes, broke the thread, and kept making a bigger mess, so it looks like it's time to retire this piece all together.
