Dragonflies, Bookmarks, Doilies, Motifs and Earrings

Sharon tatted the dragonflies to go along with the flowers for Palmetto Tat Days 2013 where the theme is Tatting Takes Wings.

Jane was asked by one of the ladies in the craft group she belongs to, to use a bookmark pattern to make her a bracelet and this was the results.

Julie ordered some HDT from Jess and was delighted when Jess included one of her Motifs on Buttons.

Cindy started Round 5 of the Jan Stawasz Doily XI with the plain ecru thread. She plans on using it until the last 2 rows and then going back to the Latte Foam.

Jess finished the wedding doily and with great trepidation gave it a bath. The vibrant pink dye had run on an earlier batch of threads, but it came out looking bright cheerful and colourfast.

Mica used DMC special dentelles No. 80 in ecru to tat these motifs from Patti Duff's Mini Tats.

Sue turned a hanky edging into a fancy elegant bookmark done in size 40 Lizbeth Purple Iris Fusion. A cross earring pattern posted on Facebook was tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Island Breeze. This is a really quick pattern and all she has to do is add the earring findings and they will be complete.

Pendants, Flowers, Crosses, Edging, Motifs, Lady, Angel, Basket and Doily

mb duke was privileged to win the Juicy Watermelon pendant from umintsuru.

Sharon has been tatting lots and lots of flowers in response to a request from Georgia Seitz for a fundraiser for Palmettos.

Diane found this Workbasket cross, strange to tat because the centre is added last. She worked it in size 20 Lizbeth #170 but if she were doing it again she would design a different centre.

Fox attempted a pattern by Kirstine and Inge Lise Nikolajsen that appears in Tatted Handkerchiefs. The new thread, which turned out to be about #100 was a perfect colour for the project, but much too fine, making it hard to close rings. She went on to a size 40 Lizbeth in ivory using the Frauberger Crown pattern, but she's not sure she likes it. This motif done in HDT by Yarnplayer in a pattern by Susanne Schwencke will head off to Peru.

 

Marie tatted another Sunbonnet Sue from the Big Book of Tatting in Lizbeth, size 20, Green Orchid Med and Blue River Glades. Rita's Angel was made with  Lizbeth, size 20, Grape dk, White, and Gold, with a flower instead of a candle.

Michelle made this basket again because she just wanted to do split chains using Romanian "macrame" thread which was kind of stretchy and weird to work with. One of the teachers brought in some framed tatting from her family. The tatter, Aaron Kraft, pictured in the corner, tatted it when he was 90, and continued to tat until he was 95. The motif is her younger daughter's first piece with rings and chains.

Doilies, Edging, Earrings, Necklaces, Butterflies, Collar, Flowers, Motifs, Lady and Bookmark

mb duke just  finished round 2 of Doily XII from Jan Stawasz's Tatted Treasures, which took her about 2 weeks to tat.

Carrie started Janette Baker's Star of David runner from Learn To Tat in the wrong size thread, which meant running out for more supplies, so this was as far as she got. She switched to something she can accomplish with the thread she has on hand, Janette Baker's Josephine Ring Edge.

Jane made earrings to go with the Diana necklace and managed to get the colour variations mostly in the same places. She  made a little muslin bag for each necklace and earring set yesterday so they are ready to be posted.

Wooroosa has used spectacular colour combinations to make this Jan Stawasz doily from his Theory and Patterns.

Julie was sifting through a box of treasures and came across a card which contained some lovely flutters made by her grandmother. She'd like to tat them from the pattern, but doesn't know the source.

SunshineCraft tatted this vintage pattern from an Anne Orr book, but she's not sure she'll ever feel girlish enough to wear it.

Ancolie tatted two small flowers suitable for a "moo" (mini) card.

Cindy was glad the Round 4 of Jan Stawasz Doily XI was simple rings and chains which made it easy to tat sitting outside in beautiful, sunny weather. Even unblocked, it looks beautiful so far.

Fox tatted this motif from Aunt Ellen’e Treasury of Tatting using Olympus leftovers in size #40. The next one is the beginnings of an oval vintage pattern that done using ”Knitty Gritty", #40, from Yarnplayer. She is sending some motifs and shuttles to her son, who is about to leave for his trip to Peru, so that he can take pictures of them there.

Marie received these goodies from a tatting exchange with Maria, in Portugal. This little "Sunbonnet Sue" from the Big Book of Tatting was done in Lizbeth, size 20, Blue River Glades and Green Orchid Med.

Michelle made this motif from a pattern in Angelina Crichlow's book.

Sue tatted this motif when she first started tatting 4 years ago in size 10 cotton crochet and her daughter wanted it added to a pair of pants. It's a great way to add a splash of colour and style.

Wanda taught a tatting class at Odd Balls Yarn Shop and you can tell from the concentration of her students that they were determined to persevere. Large thread really helps to see individual stitches.

Necklace, Pendant, Snowflakes, Crosses, Doilies and Motifs

Jane finished the Diana necklace pattern by Gunhild Fette which adds beads to a single shuttle split ring and gives her one more technique mastered.

Ginny loves Marilee Rockley's Rotation pattern which she purchased on Etsy.

Julie has tatted 4 of Diane's snowflakes that use a centre finding and sent them home with her sister as a belated Christmas gift.

Diane is making slow progress on her latest cross, being careful to follow the pattern line by line. Starting with a partially filled shuttle meant having to stop and add thread.

Fox was ready to throw in the towel, but with a little encouragement she was persuaded to persist and the results were certainly worth it.

Michelle has tatted several of Lene Bjorn's Camilla bookmark as gifts for graduating students. A lovely surprise package from Fox included some of her delightful tatting.
