Bracelet, Necklaces, Earrings, Doily, Cross and Snowflakes

Joy has completed her necklace, bracelet and earring set, except that she has to do the earrings again because she has already given the first set to a friend. The good news is that she wrote it all down and it will be relatively easy to make another pair.

Michelle had a friend visit for a while and a lot of sitting and chatting translated into 4 rows of tatting completed. Only 18 more left to go and we can all empathize with the joy of having some done and the dread of more yet to come.

Julie managed to find time to tat a ring or two of Mary Konior's Small Cross. Watching active little one's who've been unable to run and play for a while due to extreme heat will often result in a shortage of tatting time.

Magda made a few sets of earrings she called Carmeneczki, which are decorated with faceted red and green glass beads and made with Madeira twist thread. The Queen Anne design of earrings are decorated with hematite beads in 2 sizes and tatted in silver twist Madeira. Luna is decorated with beads hematite beads and worked in silver twist Madeira.

Fox out did herself in test tatting this pattern for my upcoming book and did outstanding job with it, even getting the beads in the right order and managing the peculiar bead placement. It all worked out in spite of the thread having knots and twists in places and was way thicker than the rayon thread she's been using recently.

Gina picked up her fair entries and managed to score quite a few wins. She has also bee doing some more test tatting for Martha. This pattern is currently called the Broomstick Snowflake, but it's name may change before all's done.

Doilies, Edging, Ornament, Butterfly and Motifs

Julie was a lucky recipient of some of Anika's hand dyed red white and blue thread and she decided to use it to tat Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel Glass Mat.

Cindy has been preparing her entries for the fair, but before she could win anything there she won a hook pen from LadyShuttlemaker. Does this mean more wins are in order?

Diane has two more rounds done and each new round does take longer, but the doily is looking grand.

Fox is planning to entice her niece into tatting with an attractive little package. Tatters are so subversive.

Gina was fortunate to have a visit with Jane Eborall. On Jane's last visit she brought Gina this lovely blue bag which Gina has been decorating with blue motifs. This year Jan brought her some goodies that aren't available on this side of the pond like Coates threads, a tatted motif and a fob with Gina's name on it which was immediately added to the blue bag.

Bracelet, Necklace, Earrings and Edging

Joy has been working on earrings and bracelet to match the necklace she just completed. The earring seemed to be working as planned until things broke. A doubled over pattern of the necklace seemed like a good idea for the bracelet with a bit of modification so that it had a little character of it's own.

IsDihara was browsing through Etsy and she discovered a paisley scarf with a matching red and grey tatted edging. Ages ago IsDihara was working on a fleur de lis edging. The first attempt, in her words, "looks more like a weird light bulb filament", but it's coming and she's still playing.

Diane had a chance to get together with Sue Anna and Marilee at a central location and as you can see 3 tatters at a table means a table loaded with tatting gear.

Fox was given some wooden beads that are just perfect for the birthday girl. She's working on something she's not ready to reveal just yet, but here's a teaser.

Bookmarks, Butterflies, Doilies, and Star

Quite a few of the blogs web pages wouldn't open today. I'm blaming the heat for this unusual event and hopefully those pages I couldn't access will be available the next time I do an update.

Joy was glad to see the bookmarks Bree posted with the stitch count because that enabled her to make one of her own.

Michelle found a butterfly from her aunt Rose-E that looks like it's done in some kind of metallic thread about size 40. . Years ago she had plans to make placemats like this one she started, but hiding all those ends put her off of that idea.

Julie wanted to tat some red,white and blue stars but she had difficulty finding the thread she wanted. This is StarChic by Jon Yusoff done in Aunt Lydia's in size 10, but when t was done it was too floppy until it was really saturated with starch. If it isn't an heirloom lace you can always use diluted white glue. It will make it quite stiff.

Diane has 2 more rounds done on her doily in spite of the oppressive heat.

Gina has wanted to do the Amusement Doily by "Creations by Celtess" for years and she finally got around to it. The thread is Summer Trail size 20 by Yarnplayer with a bit of Omega Peach in size 30 to separate the rounds. I love the HDTs but that little break of solid colour really makes it stand out and shine.

Sue has done another cross bookmark from Traditional Tatting Patterns Edited by Rita Weiss, but this one is done in Lizbeth size 40 Lilac Dk. with the size 50 Fushia HDT from LadyShuttlemaker.

Motifs, Necklace, Edging, Bracelet and Bookmarks

Joy had some motifs that were curling on her and she decided to use that curling feature to it's best advantage and attached them to some pincushions. It certainly looks pretty. She sewed down one motif, but the next one she did a second motif for the back of the pincushion and while it worked it, wasn't quite what she was hoping for. Then she got distracted by the Lizbeth thread and tried a motif from Lyn Morton's Tatting Patterns. The she was working on a six point star, that somehow went off track. She finished the necklace and it turned out lovely. She found some older pieces edged in tatting while rummaging for some material that would look nicer if they were blocked, but she can't face bending over an ironing board to fix them. Simple answer, styrofoam blocking board, pin out the picots, dampen, and let dry.

Julie tatted this Mary Konior, Mark My Words Cross a while ago and the reason she still has it to share is that it's one she kept for herself. It's done in Lizbeth Vineyard Harvest thread size 20.

Marta tatted a bracelet in navy and white and a bookmark in navy and blue.

Linda tatted a sun catcher with Lizbeth 156 Watermelon using a pattern by Nancy Tracy, slightly modified because she used a 4 inch ring instead of the 3 inch one Nancy used. It's held onto the ring with nylon thread and a small bell was added to the bottom for a very pretty sun catcher.

Bree has been whipping up quick little bookmarks with centre ribbons done in a variety of threads from size 10, 12, and 20 and from Aunt Lydia to Lizbeth. She has included a diagram of the pattern on her blog.

Fox tatted this motif form Spitzen Kreationen in Olympus and Altin Basak, both about #30. Suneeti noticed that the first part of her ds was quite a bit looser than the second half and when Fox tatted Jon's little snowflake, she made it utilizing Suneeti's suggestion, and the stitches are the most consistent of any she has previously worked.

Orsi has one short side and one corner or the edging for the 130 x 250 cm tablecloth done. It's a lot of boring tatting, but the tablecloth will be gorgeous.
