Doily, Edgings, Flowers, Bookmarks, Necklace, Bracelet, Earrings and an Ornament

Prabhjyotsaini picked up some size 10 thread from WalMart and to try it out she started the Spencer Doily from Georgia Seitz web site. It didn't take very long to realize it wasn't very good thread for tatting with, so she stopped after the 4th round.
Karen has seen several shuttles made from upcycled materials and she did her own version with a convenience store soda cup and a sewing machine bobbin. As you can see it works, but it was flimsy and hardly better than tatting with the bobbin by itself.

Stephanie Grace was doing some practicing and experimenting using a small flower motif and various colours of size 20 Lizbeth. She thought she would see if she could tat 25 of them in a week and she successfully met her goal. Some of the finished flowers ended up in a framed present for her mother's birthday before she got them scanned. Some of them were added to a tatted bookmark for a friend. Then she tatted some daisy flowers in Lizbeth Victorian Red and joined them to make a pendant. She tatted a bracelet in LizBeth size 20 in Juicy Watermelon and Lime Green, but she's not crazy about the colours.

Orsi shows us the edging she has designed to be added to a summer dress.
IsDihara is showing us some of the new Lizbeth colours available, but you'll have to check her blog for all of them. Displayed on the hanky are Easter Eggs and Country Kitchen. Niagara Falls is the middle shade pictured on the lovely tatted doily.

Claudia tatted a pair of earrings from a pattern called mimosa in the Japanesse book Peikko by Takako Kitano which is both easy to tat and elegant. The second pair have beads added. Shae has also tatted more bookmarks. Jon Yusoff's Foldover bookmark in orange perle # 8 variegated thread and another using the first part of the same pattern in variegated lilac. The last bookmark was tatted in Camila variegated thread using a pattern from the internet but she doesn't have the designer's name.

Ingrid recently finished this delicate hanky edging which she can't upload to her blog because it has been removed. She has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and anticipates radiation treatment to possibly be followed by a second operation and chemo. I am certain she will appreciate your prayers even if you can't contact her through her blog. She is dropping out of the challenge for the moment because she doesn't think she will be able to tat until after her recovery.

Kat shows us the bookmarks that she received from Jon in The Tatting Forum's exchange.

Marty has been working on a Jan Stawasz pattern, split-ringing it into single rounds instead of individual motifs, but she got the stitch count backwards on the split rings. This lovely mass of delicate lace was cut to fix the problem and she's about half way around putting this row back on. Hmmm. I hate to say it, but it might have been faster to have tatted the individual motifs.

Sue finally finished this little 5 inch doily from an antique pattern done in Lizbeth size 40 Fruit Fizz thread. She also got this ornament from Elegant Tatting Patterns by Janet Carroll done in size 10 red and white thread for a friend who requested it.

Wanda finished the heart bookmark that she had been working on and it worked up pretty much the way she thought it would. Her problem now is to give it a name. So she is having a contest to name the bookmark.

Necklaces, Doily and Bookmarks

Ninetta created this pendant which is tatted in silver plated copper wire Ø 0,25mm, making it about 2x2cm, with a little piece of murrina in the centre.

Gwen is about half way through the Clover Doily. She's using DMC Cebelia size 30 in White.

IsDihara was looking at mouthwatering desserts when she came across some perched on a box with a printed image reminiscent of lace, so she couldn't help trying to sketch it out to see if it could be developed into a tatted edging. Lots of possibilities.

Gina finished the Cat and the Snail bookmarks. She was going to tat the bunny, but she wanted to try a pattern she hadn't done before.

Motifs and Bookmarks

Nancy is using a design from Mary Konior's Tatting in Lace and working in size 80 thread.

Fox was in the Big Apple and since she hadn't packed enough supplies, she just HAD to go shopping for more and found an amazing selection of DMC Perle, which she'd rather not use, but they didn't have any of the size 30 Cebelia she was looking for. Of course she also managed to pick up some shuttles. She worked a little on Mary Konior's Lupins and a pattern from Angelina's book tatted in some of Tatskool's HDT that was left over from another pattern.

Gina is in the process of tatting the cat bookmark from Dianna Steven's book, A Tatted Zoo, in some size 40 thread I got from Tatskool called Flame Lantana.

Bookmark, Edging, Earrings, and Heart

Anika picked up some size 80 tatting thread from Michaels and had to try something with it. She used a modified edging pattern to make a bookmark.

Jessica finished the belt she has been working on in time to wear it to a wedding. Here's the first side pictured with a ruler for scale. This belt has a shorter tatting section that the first belt because she liked the effect of the ribbons on it.

Orsi has finished the costumes and decided to make a very simple edging on the dress, by double thread, one is red and the other is golden.

Isabel has admired these earrings by Iris Niebach for a long time and she finally got to make them.

Kat finally found a shirt to match the tatted heart for the wee one, but sadly no one noticed it when she wore it. Let's hope they pay more attention when she wears it again.

Snowflakes, Ornaments, Motifs and Bookmarks

Shannon has been tatting the designs from Festive Snowflakes and Ornaments for Needle and Shuttle Tatters edited by Barb Foster.

Linda has received a wonderful package from Maria in Portugal which included a tatted motif and bookmark.
Isa got a beautiful motif by Elize Åkesson at her last tatting meeting which she found very challenging. It has a woven centre and took her two attempts to make it. She made it in size 20 and turned it into a pendant.
Kat tatted Kersti's Floral Bookmark Pattern in Lizbeth size 20 Country Turquoise Medium for the The Tatting Forum bookmark exchange. The second bookmark is Jon's Folder Over bookmark tatted in Lizbeth size 20 Wildflower Garden.

Jewellery Box Decoration, Hair Ornament, and Motifs

Axa tatted a 3D design by Hana Horakove from the book, Frivolitková Hrajka. It's done in size 20 Anchor Artiste and it can be use as a candle frill as shown in the first picture, but it can also be used to adorn a small jewellery box.

Karen presented a graduating student with a one of a kind hair decoration using solid and variegated blue thread and beads to create 3D flowers.

Gina got a lot more motifs done while babysitting but very few ends hidden because she hadn't packed a suitable needle.
