Easter Egg

Administrative Note

I have just gone through the link list and removed the tatters who haven't had any new tatting content since November, since, if there isn't anything to show for the last 6 months, you've probably lost interest.

Barbara completed Egg #8 in the book TATTED Easter Eggs by Kirsten Wind Hansen in Lizbeth size 20 in white and #104, Summer Fun but the number of twists to use in different sections was not very clear in the book.

Bookmarks, Motifs, Bracelet, Heart, Cross, Tulip and Headband

Prabhjyotsaini found Saundra Hameed's Mom bookmark which is perfect for Mother's Day.

Shannon has made 2 tatting presses following Ann's pattern and she's keeping one but will sell the other. Here's hers with her current WIP, a doily that she's doing in size 30 thread.

Ancolie has found the perfect design to end off her challenge. At least this one, she may be back for more.

Fox has also made it through another 25 with this marvellously masterful motif. To prove her point that her stitches are not as uniform as they ought to be she posts a picture of the old, and the new improved side by side. She has also posted a picture showing how she holds her work.

Isa has designed a bracelet that she plans on wearing for Easter.

Kat has been tatting and giving her lace away before she had a chance to take pictures, but she managed to get these two. Jon's Hearts Entwined was done for yet another wedding present in Lizbeth size 20 Lilac Dk. The Maria cross was also needle tatted in the same colour.

Kathy tatted a very vivid tulip in size 20 Lizbeth Jelly Bean thread by joining vintage triangles together. She first joined the triangles together into a circle in a random manner, and then she did it again in a controlled manner deliberately starting with the purple colour and joining the purple rings in the middle. Add a few more triangles with the purple on the corners and a tulip emerged, so she added some leaves and a frame.

Sue found an online edging that she used to make this double heart headband. It's tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Rainbow Taffy and paired up with a blue headband which looks charming being modelled by her granddaughter.

Motifs, Easter Eggs, Snowflake and Edging

Journey bid on an auction for a Milward shuttle and won the shuttle and some balls of tangled thread. When the thread was untangled she discovered a couple of motifs with a lot of loose ends.

Jessica tatted at Shuttlebird's till she bled and had to bandage all her fingers, but did that stop her? What do you think?

Wanda has the pattern for her Elcie pattern up on her blog now.
Barbara used Lizbeth size 20 thread and beads on this Easter Egg. No. 15 in TATTED Easter Eggs by Kirsten Wind Hansen was made with Lizbeth white and No. 124 called Spring Garden and the butterfly was included in the pattern. The solid colour egg was made with Lizbeth size 20, No. 621 called Dusty Rose.

Diane is participating in the One Snowflake A Month Challenge at The Tatting Forums and made Motif #7 from DMC Tatting for Today in size 20 Lizbeth, color #662.

Fox has finally finished her edging and here it is on the hanky.

Motifs, Easter Egg, Doily, Edging

Sunshinecraft is learning some new techniques including finger tatting which she found wasn't too bad except for handling long tangling threads. She has been using a netting shuttle for working with beads and she finds they hold an amazing amount of beads.

Barbara has tatted # 14 from TATTED Easter Eggs by Kirsten Wind Hansen. This one is in Lizbeth thread size 20, #104 called Summer Fun. She used a roll stitch on the top, bottom and both sides which she has only done once before.

Bev aka BJ was astounded to receive the amazing surprise in the mail. She had arrange with Marty to receive a little something tatted, but what she got was the spectacular doily that Marty just completed.
Fox tatted Myra Piper's pattern in Heather's Sweet Peppermint #30 HDT and the colour was a bit too busy. She had wanted to tat the middle in Suneeti's red metallic, but it kept breaking. She only has five repeats left on the edging, then she has the tough part left of sewing it on.

Seahorse, Edging and Mask

Carol is tatting Jane Eborall's Seahorses. These are the Medium size Seahorse made into a pendant. Her daughter needed a costume and Carol added some tatting to decorate a mask for her.

Sue made a headband for her daughter using a stretchy headband and Jane Eborall's Fandango Edging. It's tatted in Lizbeth size 20 Lilac Dk. and size 20 Iris Bouquet from Crochet4U2Dye4, and tiny purple beads.

Bookmarks, Seahorse, Doily, Edging, Heart and a Flower

Tattabugg tatted the small cross pattern from Mary Konior's book Tatting With Visual Patterns in Lizbeth thread Peacock Blue in size 80.

Garyou used Lisbeth #40 Sherbet Delight to tat this Floral Bookmark by Kersti.

Journey has finished the Seahorse designed by Jane Enborall and wishes she had a bead for his eye. Sometimes one little bead can add a lot to a design.

Patrycja has been inspired to create another doily, this one is done with Aida 20 in brown.

Cindy has been tatting a lot of cross bookmarks for her friend to give as Easter gifts. Mary Konior's large cross may be a bit too big for Bible bookmarks done in size 20 thread Lizbeth Springtime and a Variegated Blue. So she did a couple more in Lizbeth size 40 in Mocha Swirl and Mocha for a slightly smaller one. She also made two of the Hearts and Flowers Cross by Julie Patterson in size 20 in Yarnplayer's Summer Trail and Lizbeth Turquoise Twist

Diane tatted the Forget-me-not edging from A Pattern Book of Tatting by Mary Konior in size 20 Lizbeth Juicy Watermelon color #156. She started another in Hens and Chicks also from A Pattern Book of Tatting by Mary Konior in Sulky 12 thread. She's still working on the hanky she started months ago but the pattern just isn't holding her interest maybe because it's just too simple. It's Handkerchief edging #1 from The Craft of Tatting by Bessie M. Attenborough and the thread is size 30 Lizbeth, Marble, #121.

Fox tatted her Misha heart again in pink and she's trying to draw it but having issues with using the software. The hanky edging is still also giving her aggravation, but she keeps on trying.

Isa is into tatting flowers for spring like this pattern she found a picture of on the internet and did it in cotton thread size 10 with 4 different colours.

Earrings, Easter eggs and Bookmarks

Magda tatted these earrings in Madeira No 20 with glass, sapphire beads in memory of her cat, that will be sold to raise funds for an animal shelter. The set in red is made with Madeira No 20 and white, synthetic pearls.

Barbara used bright white Lizbeth thread and tiny, very pastel lavender beads and although she hasn't used beads for ages, she really likes the way they look on this egg. Lizbeth thread size 20, #129 called Purple Splendor was used for this one and she thinks she needs to made her picots smaller.

BSOTF used DMC Traditions yellow & Flora Red and made this bookmark that glows in the dark.
Fox emailed Sally Kerson inquiring about the wood used in her Pop-a-bobbin shuttle and received a reply along with a tatted cross. These crosses are replacements for the original which was accidentally confiscated due to a misunderstanding.
