Bookmarks, Doily, Earrings, Flower, Motifs, Snowflakes, Edging, Bunny and Apple

Marta made two pendants both in hoops. The first one she found on Carli's blog and the second pattern is written by Lyn Morton, both with beads.

Kat was having trouble with a big B so she settled for a little b tatted in Lizbeth size 20 in navy blue, and a big A in Lizbeth size 20 harvest orange medium, along with a bunny from Mark Myers in Lizbeth size 20 white. She need something to go along with A and Mark's apple done in Lizbeth size 20 leaf green medium and Christmas red was perfect.

Sharon tatted Anitra Stone's Tatted Dream Snowflake taught at Palmetto 2010 and after a bit of practice she tatted this one without having to stop and undo or worse, stop and cut out. Practice is a wonderful thing. Without it, none of us improve.

Sunshinecraft was in the middle of tatting the second window picture from the Burda tatting book in DMC Cebelia 30 when she had to get out of the car. She was at the juncture of adding new thread and consequently had 3 shuttles attached to the work and she lost it all when it fell out and got left behind. When her choices were to sit and cry or go shuttle shopping, you know which one won out. See the pretty Clovers?

Wanda's has a long list of unfinished tatting to be done for Christmas like this delicate bookmark, but she still had time for a parody of The Night Before Christmas.

Ancolie tatted a doily design by Teiko Fujiko using DMC perle cotton thread size 12 and found it quite challenging, but oh, so pretty.

Fox had just enough Tatskool's Chocolime thread left to tat a Myra Piper motif. Then she trudged on through the grunt work of designing, namely writing out her pattern.

Ingrid has jumped into her second round of the challenge with her 3rd entry, with Clover, an edging by Mary Konior from her book Tatting with Visual Patterns. It's done in Durable crotchet cotton.

Lily challenged herself to tat Miranda's Angels in the Snow, in 3 colours with 3 shuttles, in Lizbeth #20 Antique Violet med, Lizbeth #20 Boysenberry dk, and Camila by Coats in Cobalt blue for a wonderful effect.

Sherry created an adorable tatted Santa hat gift tag and has graciously shared the pattern.

Sue was going through her notes and realized that the black earrings she did for her MIL should have been blue. So she's found anew home for the black ones and re-did them in blue and put them in an origami box. Hubby was feeling left out, so she made him Mary Konior's Large Cross in size 10 Navy thread. Now he wants a tablecloth. (Should she be thrilled that he likes her tatting so much? Or daunted by endless hours of repetitive lacemaking?)

Tats made the Small Cross from Mary Konior's Tatting with Visual Patterns along with some butterfly earrings from Janette Bakers "Learn to Tat" book as a request from a family member.

Wally used the dendrobium pattern from Toni Storer's book of orchids to make the flower for this headband.

Snowflakes, Candy Cane, Spider, Necklaces, Fan, Motifs, Edgings and Flower

Claudia tatted another of Terry Nimer´s spiders, this one with a bead in the centre. Another snowflake in white and a candy cane in two colours, red and white, both DMC size 8 perle cotton.

Mary saw Miranda's pretty Angels in the Snow and had to tat one of her own which she did in a colour combo she thought would work, but now she's not sure about it. I think it looks lovely. Then she did Samantha Melnychuk's butterfly snowflake which worked out very well.

Orsi is making hand made cards using hand made paper and tatted snowflakes for Christmas. She had plans to tat a tablecloth for her Christmas table, but doesn't think she'll have the time, but she did make these two necklaces that will be gifts.

Sunshinecraft has finished an awesome Teri Dusenbury design of a tatted fan which is lovely enough to be framed.

Linda has made some lovely CQ postcards embellished with tatting which will be birthday cards for some special people.

Fox tatted up this pattern that Suneeti sent her in Altin Basak thread. Her own design tatted Tatskool's Chocolime in size 40 and some thread she received from the thread exchange that she wanted to try, was made difficult because the exchange thread turned out to be larger and added to the challenge.

Kathy shows us yet another interesting way to use tatting. This segment of an edging from Ann Orr's Classic Tatting was tatted in gold metallic thread from DMC, mounted on a pin backing that had been covered in velvet ribbon and rhinestones were then glued in place. The whole thing was then pinned over an ecru edging that had been formed into an oval, to make a marvellous Christmas brooch.

Laura has started another challenge she and she is auditioning a number of designs to find one that she would like for this purpose.

Lily re-tatted the yellow design with inverted colours and now has both motifs ready to be sewn down on their respective headbands.

Sherry has finally finished some tatting for the baby in her own HDT colourway in size 20 silk.

Wally has created a lovely headband with a tatted hibiscus, an original design, complete with calyx and leaf.

Ornaments, Snowflakes, Earrings, Cross and a Heart

Claudia has tatted some more Christmas ornaments. The square motif was made with variegated yellow, DMC perle cotton thread size 8 and the green motif uses Ambar macrame cotton thread which is similar to a size 10. and for square motif in variegated yellow, DMC perle cotton thread #8. Violet the spider is a pattern from Terry Nimer, which was shared with the last 2010 online tatting class made in Pilar (from Paraguay), similar to a size 20, in lilac colour and added beads on the legs.

Mary tatted Melati from Jon Yusoff's Tatting with Rings except that she only did 5 points instead of 6 and she repeated the mistake on the second one because these were done to make earrings.

Bonnie tatted Julie Patterson's Hearts and Flowers Cross Bookmark in Tatskool's ChocoRaspberry HDT which she thinks is size 40, as a gift for a co-worker.

Lily showed us her 4 point variation which was a result of not having enough thread on the shuttle and not wanting to add in thread for just one more ring. We all know what that's like. Here's a picture of what the original 5 point star looks like. She also shows what happened when she rescued the beads from the pendant. Suddenly it looks like a heart. Sometimes the weight or the positioning of beads, pulls a motif out of shape.

Santa, Edgings, Motifs, Snowflakes, Flowers, Bracelet, Ornaments, Earrings and Angels

Sharon tatted this trio of snowflakes using Snowflake 7 from Festive Snowflakes & Ornaments edited by Barbara Foster. The snowflake on the left is Yarnplayer's Snowflake HDT.

 Linda has been busy crafting angels. The first one is a free pattern from Martha Ess and the second is from Mark Myers' Tatted Gathering of Angels which was done in size 10 thread to make a larger ornament. The felt angels have tatting added for the halo, edging around skirt and the heart in the center.

Bonnie has tatted Jeff Hamilton's Sine Wave Star which was done some time ago and she's just getting around to showing it.

Ancolie has two new pieces for her challenge and although they aren't difficult, they are delicate and pretty.

BSOTF has a pair of glitzy earrings that you can use for a dressy event or as pasties for an un-dressy event.

Fox has made LaRae Mikulecky's Christmas Wreath with Josephine Knots. Those little red knots really stand out just like ornaments on an evergreen wreath.

Lily completed Lyn Morton's Ring of Roses Bracelet (she thinks), it's from the book Tatted Jewelry done in Coats' Tridalia in Pink Grapefruit with tiny seed beads. Teardrop from the book Needle Tatting with Style book 1 by Barbara Foster tatted in Lizbeth Boysenberry Dk was used to adorn a plaid headband, but it needed a little something, so she added a butterfly in Leafy Swirl (?) and crystal bead. Lizbeth Antique Violet Med tatted in to a flower with crystals from Lyn Morton's book, along with Leafy Swirl Lizbeth tatted into a little butterfly with 0.5mm seed beads were added to a blue headband. The Yellow/Green motif made with Tridalia - Christmas Green and Sunshine Yellow came from an old Workbasket magazine and the purple and green variegated motif was a 5-point star from The Gentle Art of Tatting Things We Love by Ann Rizzo, but since Lily ran out of shuttle thread she only did 4 repeats. It's tatted in a combination of colored cotton/poly sewing thread for the outer star and tiny seed beads, but she doesn't like the finished results of the modified star. This design done in metallic thread with 2 pink crystal beads is supposed to be a heart, but somehow hers doesn't look very heart-like.

Mica tatted Day 21 from Bjørn's 24 Snowflakes in Tatting, using 1 strand DMC metallic floss and it was an interesting snowflake to tat.

Sherry was sent lots of tatting goodies for her new little one that didn't get re-directed as they were supposed to, so she had a full mail box when she checked. Socks and motifs from Fox, a onesie from Marty, tatted shoes and tatting decorated hat from VicTats and a hanky with tatted edging shaped into a bonnet from Kelly.
