Baby Booties and Cards for Hero's

Ladydoc has posted an opportunity for tatters to share there tatting and also support a good cause by making Cards for Hero's.

Angie has learned the same lesson that I did and that is be sure to put your tatting away when you are done with it or your dog will eat it. Angie made a pair of booties for her nephew and wife using a pattern by Mrs. C.B Platt and size 20 Lizbeth thread in color 113 Jewels.

Ellen was the winner of a blog give away and she announces the two winners of her blog give away. She also shows us a piece of tatting she has done to give to an employee who is leaving where she works.

TattingChic shows us a comparison of the Ruffled Heart tatted in DMC size 20, 40, and 80 thread.

Snowflakes, Seahorses and Crazy Quilt bits

LauraRose posts motif 11 and 12 for the 25 motif challenge made in DMC Perle with verigated and solid colour threads. She has plenty of "extra" bits, begging to be stitched onto some ATCs and the length is the first piece of 'homework' for the on-line tat design class I am taking. Remember you can't attach your homework pieces to a quilt or you won't be able to use them to design with!

Christine tatted the seahorse using Debbie Arnold’s very easy to follow pattern. to embellish a cray quilt. The second piece is the star fish on the bottom left. The threads were HDT, but she's not sure which ones.
Hye-Soon uses this lovely motif to show how to sew in the ends of the thread.

Steph has decided the she wants a Rainbow Christmas Tree this year and she has started tatting these colourful snowflakes for it. The firsts 3 are from Jon Yusoff's snowflake collection and she plans to work next from Myra Piper's book.
Jeanne tatted the Beatrice doily by Iris Niebach in Melamine size 30 HDT from Heather. She made a mistake and had to carefully retro tat it. That's one of the problems with these lovely HDT threads, you don't want to cut it and ruin the flow of colour. Jeanne is making a lot of Daisy Picot stars for her daughters wedding and finger tatting motifs in bulk was getting tiresome but this little shuttle from Noreen Crone-Findlay is the perfect answer. Dianne tatted this pretty little motif from Projects in Tatting by Sheila York in green, perfect for the coaster.
Heather tatted another Victats Ruffled Heart design in size 10 thread in Bubble Gum colorway, in a different dye technique she was trying. Martha Ess' Paprika the dragon was also done in Bubblegum with and extended tail in Josephine Knots. The second dragon was made in size 10 Vanilla Mint.


Maria has finished 25 motifs, but she participated in a crazy quilt challenge that she tatted these little pretties for, so she started the challenge again. This challenge is so addicting I think we have some folks who will never be done. LOL.

Doilies, Hearts, Horseshoes and Mosquitoes

Beverly has joined the challenge and her first motif is one which she designed and it's (in case you can't guess) a Georgia mosquito. The second piece in the is an original design in the manner of a humming bird. The cute little Butterfly Snowflake doily pattern is by Samantha Melnychuk.

Madge tatted Lynn Morton's horseshoe design. Then she did a second version with beads and a third slightly different variation.

Shirl shows us her polymer clay tatting shuttle, hot out of the oven.
Hye-Soon has posted Midnight and the Spinning Wheel glass mat from Mary Konior. Ancolie tatted a new doily in DMC 40 using a pattern called Cristal. From the book "frivolité fine et précieuse". Ellen joined some ATC enthusiasts in an exhibit at the library and proudly displayed her tatting embellished ATCs.She has created another alphabet paperclip and has plans to share a pattern with Georgia's Online class. Heather has finally revealed that the mystery tatting is for a new book "Tatted Earrings and Things". She was doodling with her shuttles when she created this flower and the open ring designed flower is a variation on an edging she saw in a book. Victats Ruffled Heart design was so interesting to work on that she stay up late to complete it.

Tatting Chic tested some SummerTrail HDT that Yarnplayer did in both DMC and Lisbeth thread size 20. She used Vicki's Ruffled Heart to test both threads. Here is DMC on the left and Lizbeth on the right.
Wally used Altin Basak #10 with silver filament and without the filament for the center to make these flowers and an acrylic heart holds the tassel. Wally wasn't sleeping so she tatted up this small pendant with a pearl surrounded by red beads.

Key, Heart, Bookmarks and Celtic Tatting

Vanessa has completed a design by Judith Connors, which is now securely fastened to her son's 21st birthday card. It has been made from size 20 variegated yellow/white Coats Mercer crochet cotton.

IsDihara has been working out a nice bottom point for the second round of Birgit Phelp's 2003 SweetHeart, but in the process discovered that fixing one problem often creates several other challenges.

Shirl's #17 motifis a tatted covered button. This button measures 1 1/8 dia and the thread used is DMC 100.

Charlotte is tatting "Arlene's First Place Win" in Yarnplayer's Leafy hand dyed green thread and Flora size 20 yellow and white threads. She has one more round to get it completed. This is the largest single piece of tatting she has completed. Way to go!!

Wanda has completed a few more paperclip bookmarks. The purple one is from last week, and the green is using the same modified pattern from Debbie Arnold. It's made from DMC Cebelia size 20, green #955. The two butterflies are her own pattern; the pink is DMC Perle cotton size 8, pink variegated #116 and the blue is Manuela size 20, light blue #008. Great bookmarks.

Carol L has been busy during the summer and finally managed to add a picture to the top of her blog title. It is the Reversible Motif by Jane Eborall and used Yarnplayer's HDT, Tourmaline with matching threads. She also did a couple of Jane's earrings and is going to town with it.

Diane has been unhappy with this motif since she snipped a picot while cutting the final thread and missed a join as well. It is Round Paperweight Pattern from Projects in Tatting by Sheila York, and the pattern is on page 54. The thread is size 20 Lizbeth #691, Mocha Brown Med.

Joy is done with the rain soaked Farm Show. She got 4 blue ribbons (first place) and one white (third place). They had an error in the judging in the doilies and changed her category number on the flower garden doily, so it ended up with no ribbon. So, here are the "official" results:baby bonnet - blue ribbon; ornament - blue ribbon, vintage case - blue ribbon, purple oval doily - blue ribbon, eagle pillow - white ribbon, flower garden doily - nothing, hanky - nothing. Way to go Joy!!.

Interview, Snowflake, Booties and more....

Isdihara posts a link on here blog for a interview that Noreen Crone Findl did with Jane Eberoll. This is definitely worth a look.

Mica has posted motif 17 which is from Tatted Snowflakes and is made from Kreinik braid #4 and although she did not think she liked the colour when she tatted it up it became one of her favorite.

Shirl's 16th motif is Chantilly border which is featured in the May/June 2009 Piece Work Magazine and is made with size 80 DMC white.

Angie shows us a pretty pair of pink baby booties that she has made and she has already had a family member place an order for a pair.

Wanda has tatted a really cute horse head on a paperclip from a sea horse pattern that she modified. Very nice Wanda.

Barbara has finished motif #19 and it is a Celtic Doily using a pattern using a pattern called Lenore English 09/05 and using omega size 30 colour 1336 and Marilee/YarnPlayer's HDT Pistachio and Spring Grass.

Joy is ready for the Farm Show and has an impressive array of items that she is entering. Good luck Joy.
