Scrunchie, Heart, Christmas and Tatting Together

Eva's tatting group is concentrating on their lace. Tatting get togethers meant food, fun and frivolite in any language.Anne has posted "En liten nuperellebrikke". Kate has found life too busy for tatting much but she did get these done for Christmas gifting and exchanges and finally had time to show us pictures of them. The first is Ben Fikkert's leaves flake made with 2 strands of quilting thread. Then there is Teri Deusenbury's Snowburst and finally Lenore English's angel pattern.
Margaret tatted Mark's Tatty Turtle for the round robin. She did want to tat some mice, but couldn't find a pattern for one. Joy has had another one of those delightful accidents that turned an uh-oh mistake into an Wow ornament. It was planned all along we knew it.
Ellen is working on the TIAS Day 2.
Tattingchic has joined the challenge. She began by tatting the Wheel of Fortune Heart designed by Teri Dusenbury and tatted in Yummy Grapefruit and Seaweed HDT. Her second entry is a scrunchie in size 20 thread although the original pattern called for size 10.
Clyde has been working on a very large doily ran out of Yarnplayer's Fern size 80 HDT. If anyone has some in their stash please get in touch with him.
Jon has step by step tutorials up on making a split ring and making a mock ring.
Marty is working on the latest TIAS.
Sherry has the "Heart Attack" edging posited with pattern. Then she went a little dimpled ring crazy with the next motif.

Flowers, Egg, Heart, Bunny, Bookmark

Iris inserted a glass ball used for floral decoration inside an earring bon bon from her book. Earring candy!
Jeff has been doing some interesting tatting recently. This item with the clipped picots looks kind of like a woolly caterpillar and there is more to come. Is he tatting his own indoor golf green? A more recognizable item is this celtic daffodil from Ruth Perry's book, "Celtic Tatting: A Design Journey on an Ancient Theme". Jeff has also revised his earlier project that needs some features added...I really can't tell what this one is going to be either.
Barbara has tatted this Celtic Egg Pattern adapted by Helen Bailey from a circular motif by Sue Hanson in Opera size 20. Now she wants to make more of them in different colors.
Bonnie has tatted the May Mystery motif from Gina's blog. Some slight inattention caused her to miscount at one point so this is her second try at it. She also asks the question that starts the never ending debate -To count or not to count? Added to Bonnie's challenge motives is "Heart's Desire" by Susan K. Fuller tatted in Marilee's size 30 "Roses" HDT.
Joy has been working from her father the late Rev. Lloyd Dice Tennies' collection of tatted patterns. One of these is a design in a notebook that was tatted by her aunt. Working from the sample and instructions in the notebook, Joy tatted this little grouping of motives that could be made into any size she wanted. Very pretty and Joy has also posted the page from the notebook so that we can see what she was working from. Ellen has posted her bookmark design called Dancing Kristine along with the pattern. She has used a beautiful variegated thread and interlaced the design with a floral ribbon in matching colours. Ellen missed out on the earlier TIAS projects so she couldn't miss this one. It looks like the new shuttles are getting a work out as well.
Ais is having a frustrating time with her email. It seems that she is not able to reply to any email, so if you are waiting for a reply, be patient.

Zarina is already on her 23rd motif. This fluffy pink bunny is a design by Heather, but Zarina thinks it doesn't look quite right. I don't know, it looks like a bunny to me.

Nita tatted this flower designed by W.M.Odum and published in 1929. Nita has added a block tatted leaf modified from a pattern for a butterfly.
Amie has decided to join the challenge and posts 18 motives to start along with a tatting edged blanket.Diane has completed "Beatrice" from Tatted Doilies by Iris Niebach and a bookmark in Marilee's "Golden Glow" thread for her mother.
Clyde has received a lovely gift of a tatted square doily and a mauve and lime green cross.
Mark has some dimpled ring experiments.
Jon shows how to tat a split ring.
I did a step by step tatted rose.
Snowy's pictures of her black bootie are on her other blog.
Marilee has tatted in the style of different composers. That's different! She finished her scrunchie in Lola HDT.
Sherry has a demo of the "dimpled yorkie".
Gina has videos of hiding ends.

Sea Horse, Bookmarks and Dimpled Yorkies

Between medical problems and planning for some showers Tami had to take some tatting time to make Jane's seahorse.
Bev received her Brown Rose HDT including a sample bookmark tatted by Marilee.
Barbara tatted this heart from Rosemary Peel's web site in Manuela size 20 thread.
Carol L. received a Leprechaun from Pamela and she has named him William. It seems that William loves tatting.
Ellen has received her GR8 shuttles and tried them out using some of Sherry's HDT on a pattern from one of the Japanese tatting books. Lovely shuttles and beautiful tatting. She has also handwritten the instructions for her Heart Destiny which is on her blog. Look for the pattern or a simple bookmark next.
Ais has been have a terrible time tatting. None of the patterns want to co-operate, or maybe it's the thread that won't co-operate. Black Magic bit the dust and then the Tudor Rose gave her a headache. Ummm Ais? Did anyone ever tell you shuttle throwing out to be an Olympic event? We've all had moments when we'd like to pitch our tatting in the garbage, but we keep at it and eventually we have beautiful lace. Mistakes are always gook for embellishing CQ blocks, and covering bags, or some tatters have a "boo boo bear" for keeping all of those bits that aren't quite right.
Zarina received this lovely bookmark from Jon. Zarina tatted the Floral bookmark in Fuchsia the other bookmarks are the Sweetheart pattern. She has found that the ceramic shuttles hold a lot of thread. She tatted all three of these bookmarks in Coffee and Cream size 20 and the shuttle wasn't even fully loaded. Then she switched from HDT to some left over crochet thread and tatted 3 more bookmarks, Birgit's Suncatcher, Sweetheart and Peacock Heart. The Pink bookmarks are a Fan bookmark, Birgit's Butterfly, Sweetheart and Li'l Heart.
Diane has been working on "Beatrice" by Iris Niebach.
Arlene has a new podcast ready.
Jon finished work on the Anne Orr square and she has mailed it to someone for a surprise.

Laura has completed another starfish in Sulky size 12 thread.
Melissa tatted Irene Woo's Butterfly Heart as a birthday present.
Sherry has dimpled rings and a dimpled "Yorkie".
Gina has links for lots of How To Tat resources and the May mystery tat has been revealed.

Angels, Leaves, Bookmarks and Hearts

Elizabeth had an awesome show with visits from other tatters that were the "frosting on the cake". One of the items she had for sale and taken by another tatter, was this romantic pin called "Flora Victoria". Bev's blog is filled with angel wings, a tatter's group hug to remind her that she's not alone in her sorrow. She was thrilled to see that her daughter won 3 awards at the WNMU Studen's Art Show Opening Reception. Bev has started the challenge over again with "Tatting Turns Over a New Leaf", leaf motif designs by Karey Solomon. Dimensional Dutch Iris Designer Marie Smith created this beauty that Bev tatted in yellow and blue. The Oak leaf and acorn also from Karey's book were tatted with size 12 Valdani.
Jeff received a pretty bookmark from Karin in an exchange. The bookmark is Karin's own design done in Coats Eldorado size 10 colour # 4288. Jeff is working on this piece but he isn't sharing what the finished project will be.

Aileen is stocking up on threads of all kinds which should give her lots of tatting options.

Barbara tatted this motif from a book called "TATTING DIMPLED RINGS" in Manuela, Country Blue 021, size 20 thread. Dimpled rings can be a bit of a challenge especially if you tat tightly.

Joy was working on a small motif while visiting with her niece in the hospital. The motif doesn't lay flat, but with the addition of a handle, it now makes a perfect little basket. Joy doesn't think she's a designer, but that's how a lot of designs are born, you just have to think outside the box. The pink edging was a little too heavy so Joy tried another variation. This one is much more delicate. Any thoughts as to a corner treatment?

Carol L. used Marilee's HDT "Nectarine" to tat this delicate little heart designed by Sandra.
Ellen's Lucky Sequin Clover pattern is now up on Jane's website under Guest Designers.

Ais has been stuck in a rut trying to work with finer thread than she is accustomed to and has had to cut it off and start again 3 times. We've all been there, done that and it isn't fun. It sounds like it's time to put that project down and try something different for a while.

Zarina has just received her shuttles and thread from Sherry and she is eager to get to work with them. Sherry's HDT thread colour Marina, is a gorgeous blend in colours.

I know I said I wouldn't do anything more than a link to the pages of people who have completed the challenge, but I couldn't resist!

Diane has finished the "Forget me not" edging.
Pamela has "Pumpkin Juice" in heart and starfish.
Jon has both a bookmark and an elaborate motif to show.
Snowy has square motives and booties in black.
Marilee has "Rhubarb Pie".
