The Guidelines
1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing me to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.2. The blogs are ALL checked whenever there is an update using the links list in the sidebar on the right, there is no need to advise me that you have added new content. If your new items haven't shown up, it's because I haven't had time to do an update yet.
3. I can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. I don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell me when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. From past experience I know the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let me know so that I continue to check your blog on a regular basis. Also let me know if once was enough so that I can move your blog to the list of past participants.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
6. Tatting 25 motifs in a year typically means tatting 2 motifs per month. Tatters who do not post any tatting content for 5 or 6 months will be removed from the list of participants.
---------------
Jane wants to work her way through the Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito and she's joining the challenge again to help her focus on it. The first motif appears simple, but it isn't easy to get it right and her first attempt on the left cups, while the second on the right was worse. Third time's the charm and this was was good enough to continue. Designs 2 and 3 are essentially the same, with different stitch counts, which can be joined in different ways to form larger projects. The long picots and bare thread spaces give motif 4 a very spidery look.
Sharon finished round 3 of the 2016 Spring Doily, but Round 4 looks like it may take a while. Round 4 of the Spring 2016 doily is done but it's gotten too large for the scanner.
Eliz went all white for her next round of Renulek Spring 2016 WIOSNA doily. She's had Angela Gambka's Morfo Butterfly pattern on her to do list for a while and now that she's had some practise she's going to load up the beads a go for it. A busy week doesn't make for a lot of tatting but she is making progress.
Nikki found that her doily was going to bunch badly and she should have made her picot joins much smaller so she dropped some stitches which she's hoping will help. The next row caused her trouble and she's having difficulty getting the clovers right.
Sarah's snowflake is a single motif from the "Marguerite" doily pattern in Judith Connor's book "Tatting Adventures with beads, shuttle and needle".
Sue tatted Jane Eborall's peacock in Lizbeth Pale Pink and Rainbow Splash for his feathers which she plans to attach to a bag.
Diane has kept up with tatting Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel Glass Mat and she has 5 completed for April. She started May by completing this one in Manuela size 20. So if one is completed, another one has to be started, right? Here it is in another shade of red in size 20 Manuela.
Fox is working on her blue doily and so far it's 7 inches across, so it's going to be big. One more round done and it's holding at 7 inches. The row of hearts is growing, only 6 more to go. She started to wind her shuttles in preparation for the next row, and neither of her skeins of blue match!. (Is it doomed?)
Margaret tatted Lene Bjorn's Day six from 24 Snowflakes in Tatting in white Lizbeth thread size 20. Day 7 was tatted in white and Niagara Falls (blue) Lizbeth thread size 20. She finished the Land of Laces Heart Doily in Cranberry Bush and Light Leaf Green Lizbeth thread size 20. She's not happy with the way the little joining ring at the base of the heart lays and she thinks it will need a bit more blocking.
Marie tatted another butterfly, this time using two strands of metallic gold and one strand of purple sewing thread. She loves this shuttle-only pattern by Mark Myers. She tatted another butterfly using 2 shuttles to give it a different colour.
Sue tatted Renulek's new 2016 Spring Doily in size 80 Lizbeth Summer Fun and Snow White which is about 4 inches across right now. She put it aside to tat another round on her "hide and seek" doily. Carnival from Mary Konior's Tatting with Visual Patterns is tatted in size 3 Pretty as a Rainbow HDT from CustomCottonEtc, show in comparison with size 100 Rainbow Bright HDT from Tatskool. Renulek's 2016 Spring Doily round 5 completed but the ends are not sewn in yet. Here's the doily in size 80 compared to the motif in size 3. She decided that using size 3 works great when doing a lot of chains in a row like this size 3 Pretty as a Rainbow HDT from CustomCottonEtc. Here are some other size 3 multi-chain tattings she did in 2013 as Christmas gifts.
