Jane worked the same motif eyeballing it on the first one and measuring it on the second one. She used a folded piece of paper to gauge the bare thread spaces and in the end she decided the extra time and effort wasn't really worth it, but it might be for longer bare spaces. This is motif 6 from The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito that she had a couple of false starts on but she likes this arrangement of motifs. After the one shuttle designs, these are the motifs using one shuttle and a ball and she notes that some of the diagrams in the book don't match the pictures. Motif 11 is a little daunting because the rings in the outer row are so large. She had some thread left on the shuttle after the second round, so she did some experimenting.
Sharon finished the button doily, although she joined the single rings to the chains of the previous round because otherwise they seemed to just flop around. Round 5 of Renulek's Spring 2016 Doily is completed.
Pop Maria has Days 8,9 and 10 of Lene Bjorn's 24 Snowflakes in tatting done. She has added a tutorial for a bracelet with double flowers to her blog, from the initial stages of drawing, through the intricate construction and bead placement.
Eliz has the front side of the Morfo butterfly tatted with pink and dark purple beads one size 20 Flora colour #227, a soft shade of blue. It's challenging to do this the first time especially since she didn't use the suggested bead sizes. She took pictures both from the top and the sides. Her 1st Morfo Butterfly is complete and she loves it. Round 6 of Renulek Spring 2016 doily is finished. She took some time to play with Ikuta Picots from the online class and her first effort resulted in all of the red picots in the front and the yellow in the back. The next try came out right with a little more concentration, certainly not mindless tatting!
Nikki has row 5 of Renulek's Spring doily 2014 done and it wasn't as difficult as she expected, but the edges seem to be curling a bit.
Sarah loves how the small interior rings nestle into the chains, like eggs held in a nest in Late Winter Snowflake, one of Robin Perfetti designs.
Elsa bought a lot of coloured silk old ancient rose colour and with the first reel, she made some Ankar style tatting. She tried out cold dye Procion MX adding yellow to the Gütermann 30/3 thread and tatting this small doily by Sumi Fujishige, from Exquisite Frivolity.
Diane has been tatting a lot without progress going around the corner on her Concentric Rectangles Doily, fudging the corner again and again. The Spinning Wheel glass mat has grown a little bit. The corner has ben conquered and she's moving ahead on the Rectangle doily. She did get a little tatting time in and she's enjoying working with this Manuela thread.
Fox, after all her angst over what colour to use, settled on the variegated to finish off the hearts and join the outer row to the doily centre, resulting in a doily 11 inches across in Lea's HDT size 70. The Renulek doily is now at row 6 and she's loving the way these blues look. She had some of Lea's #50, HDT that didn't match anything until a tatting friend sent her this.
Lilas made this pendant in black some time ago, but was unenthusiastic about it and forgot about it. When she finally did it again in white, she was inspired to create a bracelet and earrings to match. Then again, the pendant works well as earrings too.
Marie has only one more round to go on her doily. She tatted this pattern by Wanda Salman, called Split Ring Cross. "Heidi" made with a shuttle only, is from her favourite, and first tatting book, by Lene Bjorn, "Tatted Bookmarks, Crosses.
Muskaan has been playing with Ikuta’s Picots and shows her step by step progress. She also shows the daisy picot. She revisited Ninetta’s small Curled Rings. She managed one lone strawberry in size 40 thread with the calyx in shaded silk thread, doubled up.
Sue has Renulek's 2016 Spring Doily round 6 completed and she's thrilled to be keeping up.
Wanda made her Medallion Cross Bookmark in Lizbeth Twirlz #404 Mermaid Lagoon.
