Motifs, Heart, Snowflakes, Doilies, Edging, Dragon, Bookmarks and Earrings

The Guidelines
1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
6. Tatting 25 motifs in a year typically means tatting 2 motifs per month. Tatters who do not post any tatting content for 5 or 6 months will be removed from the list of participants.
---------------

Dawn used Caron Wildflowers in colour 043 Aurora to make this design by Elizabeth and the thread fluffs a little but it resulted in a Victorian looking lace. Sarah's Heart designed by Teri Dusenbury is tatted in Lizbeth thread no 10 colour 154, Wildflower Garden. Lene Bjorn's Third Day of December snowflake is from her book entitled 24 Snowflakes in Tatting and was made in Lizbeth thread no 40 colour 115 Springtime. This clasp design is yet another motif by Jan Stawasz from his Tatted Treasures book, made in Chameleon embroidery thread from South Africa and is a perle 12 thickness, and the colour was Copper Kiss, no 151. She finishes her first 25 Motif Challenge with a Jan Stawasz design  found in his Tatted Treasures Book, tatted in 40 Lizbeth thread col 115 Springtime.

Sue tatted this soon to be published pattern, which she has altered with green and black beads and plans to do another one for Halloween earrings. The linking rings aren't linking very well in this tat along challenge for Jane's doily.

Claire visited the Royal BC Museum in Victoria and was disappointed that tatting wasn't represented. After some discussion with the tatters on InTatters she found a pattern representing Edwardian period lace which she has executed in vintage beige cotton so that it won't show the marks of frequent handling for the museum's display.

mb duke is still working on Renulek's Spring Doily, but she is finally on the 13th and final round. Back at about row 9 or 10, she misread the pattern and neglected to tat a thrown ring and consequently she is having to modify the pattern for round 13 by adding six ds between the scallops. She is a little more than half way around the hanky, another work in progress, but it wouldn't fit on the scanner and she loves how it's turning out, but it's so boring she loses concentration and starts making mistakes, so she has to put it aside for a while.

Lelia was intrigued by the picots in the corner of this motif and had to give it a try, first in Lizbeth size 20, colour 631, then in Lizbeth size 20, colour 631 + size 80, colour 168 and then in Lizbeth size 20. She received some interesting thread from Handy Hands and some tempting patterns in the newsletter. She found a pattern book in an antique mall, but the photo isn't clear and she has written out her own diagram and her sample in size 20 doesn't seem quite right. She did it again in Lizbeth size 80 which was closer to the recommended size 70 and she alternated the different stitch counts for a more successful motif.

Diane is finally finished Mom's Pink Doily is a free pattern from Nancy Tracy, which she did in size 20 Lizbeth, Leafy Greens, for a finished size a little over 10" across. Excited to start a new project, she pulled out Festive Tatted Snowflakes & Ornaments edited by Barbara Foster and tatted Snowflake 2 but, she made a mistake on the last spoke of the snowflake, which absolutely ruined it. SO of course she did it again. Elegant Tatting Gems by Jon Yusoff is one of her favourite tatting books, Adiratna tatted in size 20 Lizbeth, #185, is about 3.75 inches across.

Michelle post some of her recent tatting. The mini-dragon made from Lizbeth Root Beer Float seems to be a little off kilter. Cintamani, from Jon Yusoff is glorious done in Lizbeth Victorian Red. Mary Konior adapted edging cross has something weird about it and she won't be making it again. Vicki Clarke's wonderful, wonderful Simple Heart just makes her happy, so she made it again and again. She received this variegated pink thread in about a size 40 from Cindy and tatted this sweet little cross with it. She tatted this snowflake a couple of weeks ago and has no idea what the pattern is.

HisKid shows us some snowflakes she has had done for a while now and more are needed for the project in mind. These are Tatted Celtic Pumpkins from Rozella Linden tiny in size 40 which are not quite right, but just a try for now.

Wanda picked up these dragonfly beads and brought along silver beads, silver jump rings - and copper earring hooks on her trip, but since these earrings done in Lizbeth #670 Victorian Red size 20 are for her, that's okay. When she arrived hone she tried out another idea making a leaf in Lizbeth #684 Leaf Green Medium size 20.
