Edging, Motifs, Doilies and Bracelet

Phyllis has been working with the online tatting class from a vintage book "Forty Original Designs in Tatting" by Nellie Hall Youngburg, creating the designs and writing them in modern notation.

Lelia did the same edging in size 80, DMC #59 and in size 20, Lizbeth colour #164 and found she had to adjust the picot size for the thicker thread. IN this design done in size 20, Lizbeth  colour #164 she made the picots 1/4" on the ends of the acorn caps and in between the 4-rings. She tried out some tatting patterns from Sophie T. LaCroix in 2013 and after her recent experiments thought she'd try them again. Working green on one side and yellow on other was done by switching shuttles after each set of ring/chain, while using the shoe lace trick enabled her to keep all the rings pink and chains green. She used size 20 Lizbeth thread for the first one in teal/green mix and 661 teal, switching shuttles to keep colours separate at the top and bottom.   The lower is done with 621 pink and 138 greens to keep rings pink and chains green she used the shoe lace trick. The patterns are found in the Antique Pattern Library and these samples she has done will provide a good reference.

Diane made good use of the time driving to and from her daughter's to finish this round of Renulek's Letnia. Both the boys and the girls are working on their tatting and acquiring their rewards. The boys especially are making progress, while one of the girls had tied her finished piece around her wrist as a bracelet. Diane managed to tat five pattern repeats on round 8 of Renulek's Letnia but thinks she might be running out of thread.

Fox has finished the edging for the choo-choo hanky and attached it to the fabric.

Martha received some tatting treasures from overseas including a celtic style bracelet with tons of beads.
