Lady, Edging, Motifs, Doilies, TIAS, Butterflies, Bookmarks and Earrings

mb duke is drawn to Victorian ladies that are dainty, elegant  and quick to tat, like this one she did in Lizbeth size 20 in Garnet and Ecru. This little lady is from Contemporary Tatting by Judith Connors done in Lizbeth size 20 in Ocean Turquoise Dark for the lady and Island Breeze for the parasol. The tree top is Jungle Greens and the trunk is Fudge Dark.
 

Jane experimented with folded ring hearts, but she ended up with a right side and a wrong side and couldn't get both rows right side up. The solution is to tat all the hearts on one side and then turn and do the hearts that face the other way. She's doing another edging for a towel and she thinks the last sample might work better. This is a simple edging, folded ring and chain, but she thinks it's quite effective.

Kristen is continuing to practice shuttle tatting, working from Easy Tatting. With each motif she sees some improvement, so she decided to try for a multi row motif and not being sure what to do with her starting ends she tied them onto a paperclip. Some dots on her finger helped get more consistent picot lengths on the second row. some of her needle tatted pieces done earlier include Valerie Square from Eliz Davis' website and Tatting Box' adorable cross pattern. All of these little motifs done in ecru will soon become a mobile.

Diane was asked about finishing the Spinning Wheel glass mat and she has shown how she does it with step by step pictures. When working in one colour she just switches shuttles as she tats, but when working in 2 colours like this one, she uses the shoelace trick at the beginning and end of each spoke. She has plans to do a video to make it clearer.

Margaret caught up with TIAS 2013 which she tatted in Lizbeth thread Pink Parade and Black no 20.

Marie tatted the Shuttlebirds challenge for last week, a butterfly done in Lizbeth, size 20, Springtime and Antique Violet Med. She has been teaching the ladies from church  needle tatting and they have been practicing Catherine Wheel Joins, using a 1" plastic bone ring to create a simple bookmark with size 10 crochet thread.  

Orsi has one large project squared away and is now able to get back to designing a necklace.

Sue's daughter is modelling her dream catcher earrings.

Wanda finished the wedding gift she was working on. The wedding colours are green, black and white so Wanda chose  Lizbeth #684 Leaf Green Med and white for the hearts. Then she  added a splash of colour with a few flowers in #613 Golden Yellow Med and #696 Autumn Orange Med and leaves in #138 Leafy Greens. The butterfly is Monica Mancenido's pattern.
